- -There are actually many thoughts on the meaning of Seventeen. But i used this one as it is the most general and many predebut fans thought like this too. But as i mention at the end of this video abt the new meaning svt gave to us, so let's just stick with that one, ok
-Also these 4 guys never debut with 'Seventeen'. They left one by one during trainee era, I used the word 'former member' as they are called Seventeen too back then :)
-There were 16 trainees at most at the same time, not 17 (which excluding Minghao at that time)
-Also this video's purpose is to update on the 4 members/ trainees, not to debate about the whole svt history, so pls dont fight in the comments :)

He wasn’t there just to support Samuel though. He was there also to support Nu’est members aka the guys he trained and almost debuted with, people really to stop leaving out bits of info just to paint whatever narrative they want and enhance the “uwu” factor of “aww he went to root Sammy on” story. Scoups is very close with the Nu’est members, more so than Samuel. Also Seventeen never had 17 members at once, throughout the years in the lineup changes there never was a single moment where Seventeen had 17 members someone always came and left.

2. Mingming is talented but I think being in a group with two other chinese members will be hard on ALL THREE OF THEM. Being slept on by pledis that is.
3. Dongjin was a careful kid so I don't have much to say. It's sad that if he was kicked out because he was in a relationship. He was 13. That's playful love. Nothing serious. I hope he did well in his studies and doing well wherever he is.
4. Sammy.... They all treated him as a baby. Our baby 😭 i don't blame him for leaving seventeen as claimed he did so because his mother said "He's too young for it".... _(Even though he debuted first and disbanded not long after)_ Our boy could've been so successful had he just stay in seventeen... I kinda feel sorry cause he's so talented.

@@highcarat1506 Idk if it was intentional, but you also missed the fact that shortly after MixNine, Mingming was added to the group BLK, thus "debuting" as a Kpop idol. He performed with them at a few events and concerts (mostly in japan I think). But the group suddenly disbanded a few months later before he made an official comeback in the group.

I believe Samuel could have easily debuted with Wanna One through produce, (he was in top 5 twice) if it weren't for M-Snake. That would have been _wild_ considering W1 was _the_ most popular group in Korea in their days
i'm still salty about this till today like fuck msnake, samuel deserves to be in wannaone (no hate to w1 members though, it just I really think that samuel deserve to be part of it)
@K.G I believe post the scandal it was reported that apparently 1/2 people in the _"orignal"_ line up were replaced with two others who made it. I'm 200% sure one was Jonghyun and the other had to be Samuel.
But it's likely that Pledis pulled some strings to keep Jonghyun with them so that Nuest would work, given that he was the most popular (it surely worked). And about Samuel, I think the news that he was half Mexican came out days before the finale so mnet must have done something to avoid future controversies.
P. S Don't get me wrong I absolutely love everyone who debuted, I'm just not happy about these 2 's unfair treatment
@K.G I myself heard the Jonghyun theory quite recently when the first hearing took place. And I know that officially 1 person in the W1 lineup was swapped but there's a very high chance that it was either of them. Actually multiple sites stated different things thus confusing many like me. I apologize if my comment is misleading

Like unfortunately, his father was m*rdered a while ago which is why he isn't active right now. Also had he been in w1, he obviously wouldn't have debuted as a solo when he actually did.

I believe in what Minghao said before, everything happens for a reason, may it be good or bad. The things you did before is what makes you what you are now.
That's why I believe SEVENTEEN were really meant to be just 13 members. If they hadn't left, Minghao wouldn't have been part of SVT.

It is not having something against them, as with Samuel, many of us support him during the program and now outside of it. (using SHINee as an example does not seem appropriate)
The number of trainees that are part of the preparation of each group is enormous. The the worst to say is that the group that surpassed everything is not enough just for what they saw in some videos or their appearance.

Honestly, I never bought the whole "There used to be 17 members but some left Pledis before debut" reasoning behind the name, here's why: If you watched 17TV, they were already adapting to the name Seventeen, despite not having 17 members from the start. Then throughout the next few years, more boys joined the lineup and some left. And during those times, there was never a single period during predebut were Seventeen actually had 17 members, the most they had in the line-up at one time was 16 and that was when Jeonghan joined and shortly before Samuel left. In the end, by the time Seventeen debuted, there was a total of 17 trainees who were in the line up at one time but never together. But like I said, they were call Seventeen very early on. I did read somewhere once from someone who’s a long time follower of the group and this theory for the name makes more sense: Pledis initially did plan for the group to be a 17 member group from 3 nations and for them to be one team. This would make sense because around the time of 17TV, Pledis did seem to be making a lot of moves towards expanding globally, with them shipping off their then rookie group Nu’est overseas and promoting Orange Caramel and After School heavily in Japan. I think they really were looking to do a multinational group with the idea of promoting overseas. But with the company struggling financially and being unable to find 17 boys who fit the group (though Pledis definitely did have more trainees than shown on 17TV), they scrapped that idea. In the end, they technically did get a group with members from 3 different nations and the whole 13 members + 3 units + 1 Team = Seventeen does work out fine. Personally, I’m glad they didn’t end up being a 17 membered group.

Another explanation that I've listened too is that the 17 was like the average age between all the members' age, but because Pledis kept delaying and delaying the debut and the group line changing too when they debuted they haven't 17 average years. With the one that you told, they're the two best explanations I've heard.

also dont forget pledis was broke asf so svt was basically a last resort with their last of company money. so if svt failed, they wouldve disbanded early anyways bc 16 mouths is A LOT to feed.
but anyways, international carats don't know much about the dongjin situation bc most of the outrage of carats are from kcarats in korean and they dont even mention his name bc thats how bad the situation is.
so don't hate him but dont defend him, i dont care that he was young. he still put 16 lives in danger, including his own. if he didnt leave, the situation would only have gotten worse, so im glad he was kicked out. it was for his sake but also mainly for everyone else that he inconvenienced.

Now that I watched this video I get to understand why all seventeen members feel like a whole chaotic middle child line, and it's because 2 out of the 4 former members were the oldest and the youngest of the group 😭 Still seventeen hyungs and maknaes are absolutely amazing and wouldn't change them at all but little Samuel as the maknae would have been so freaking cutee
As much as I feel like it's a waste that these members left... Seventeen looks perfect with 13 members for me now, with Seungcheol as their oldest and the best leader in the world, and with Dino as their maknae and the Future of Kpop.
But I do hope that they achieve their dreams and find success in the future, even without being in Seventeen.
Actually, Dongjin didn’t get fired from dating only... He spread private information and talked behind Seventeen members to the Sasaeng fans. This is not a rumour, this is actually what happened at some point before he left and after he left as well... He was the source of bringing so much of hard time to Seventeen during trainee days so no one shall mention his name.

It was in Korean and it only happened amongst the small community - I got to see it bc followed this particular person who was online and retweeted the twts like crazy...It was weird but seeing those ppl fighting over and even explaining what really happened to Dongjin seemed real to me... If I rmb right, Dongjin was outcasted bc he was unpunctual and eventually lost motivation to even try harder for the team.. so he ended up fking up things by seeing Sasaengs and spreading privacy abt the Svt members

I became a carat lke 3years ago. as time passes by i started lking them more than before. i really wish that i know them from their predebut era but i was just 9 year old! what can i do, but im happy that i found seventeen. they are really great and amazing.
actually dongjin got pretty bad image within the korean fans, bcs it is said that not only dating fans, he also sent the fan (or some of fans, i forgot) nude photos of seventeen members at that time, so he was immediately kicked out then. like to the extend they (korean fans) dont even mention dongjin’s name in the ex-trainees (they happily acknowledge doyoon, mingming, and samuel).
i saw one of the predebut videos where the members was playing around, and one fan thought dongjin was mingming and calling him cute, but other fan pointed out that it was actually dongjin, so she was like “LOL I TAKE MY WORD HE IS NOT CUTE”

I don't know but I guess not everyone knows this, SEVENTEEN was never ot17!!! They were ot16. When 3 of the members left, Dongjin was the only one left with the current members, that's when they added minghao. Before project17 was aired, they were 14. I guess in the last minute before the debut project, dongjin left. The reason why they are called SEVENTEEN is that, they were supposed to debut with the oldest members are 17 y/o (the hyung line) but their debut was being pushed back as always, so saying that "they had 17 members supposedly that's why they are called SEVENTEEN" just doesn't make sense. Yes, all-in-all, they have 17 "supposed" members in total, but the company never planned to debut a group with 17 members. Also, I think minghao was just added as a filler but I'm glad he debuted with them.
I’ve been a casual fan of Seventeen since debut. Knew all of their name and loved their songs but I had no idea that they had 17 members originally for the lineup.. I though there were only 14 members because I’ve only seen Samuel in their predebut videos back then. It’s very interesting how the lineup changes throughout the years and how they changed the meaning behind Seventeen to keep the name. I love the current combination but as a fan of Samuel and SVT, it would be really touching to see Samuel join SVT again because the boy has gone through a lot since he was 10 and then, his conflict with Brave Entertainment :( I think he deserves a stable career with or without SVT..

It will never happen if these four debuted with svt. The8 will not be part of svt if that happened. Svt actually had 2 postponed debut, oct 2013 and may 2014. 2013 debut never happened because of pledis does not have enough money to debut them.2014 debut never happened because 3 members left ( doyoon,mingming and dongjin)

For eissa and mingming I think they interact behind camera I guess. Because eventhough eissa had enter pledis, he did not being added to 17tv yet, maybe after mingming left they add eissa into 17tv. Please all support Yao Ming Ming, he is so kind-hearted and talented. Although he was just 1 place short in MIXNINE as he ranked 10th instead of 9th, he managed to successfully debut under UNINE after Idol Producer 2 (Youth with You). Now, he is a solo artist as the temporary contract expired, but he is doing great!

I remember their pre-debut days and my bias was Dongjin (since i was still 11 that time and i just legit chose him cus he's 2 years older than me and i find him cute lmao) and then Jun would always grab my attention so i went full on bias on Junhui but then got a little bit hurt when Dongjin got kicked out cus of the dating rumours 😔👊
aww samuel's part was really touching !! I love how it seems he's kinda like the one who stayed the closest with the seventeen members, and the fact that he's done seventeen dance covers !! it's like they're still dancing together :')
Okay so I just went ahead and skipped on Dongjin's part but since there was no info much to tell I'll just go ahead and tell you guys what I know.
Please take this as a grain of salt because I won't be giving out his information and details about how I know these stuff because I still have like a knack of respect on Dongjin's privacy since he's no longer a public figure like he was in Seventeen.
1. Dongjin is in college right now and he's doing well like hella well. He's a dancer and also a part of their school's dance team which won several awards, he's doing great with that and he's really proud. He improved a lot too since 17TV.
During highschool he performs occasionally on their school like for festivals or events. He sings too during those times and he really improved a lot. His voice got really deeper I say I think around Wonwoo's range of voice and he's much more stable than what he did before.
2. Dongjin has an IG account but his username is hella weird even I still laugh about it. Anyways he rarely post anything, LIKE RARELY. Maybe once a year or twice, he doesn't post much but he does post like for IG stories. Most contents are from his friends who tags his IG accounts, several update like performance videos, photos from their performance, practice and other down times like going on a date or smth.
3. He really grew well and he's happy now, focusing on his school and dance team. I don't really think he has plans on going back to being an idol coz he seems contented on what he does.
I wanna say something more but I think I said enough. Rest assures he's happy though 💕💕

I could neither deny or confirm the rumors about why he left. I did ask about it once but he and his family didn't gave me any response which in respect I didn't push further with the said question. Let's avoid speculating further especially since what I have said, he's no longer a public figure and looks like he doesn't have plans to continue to do so. He's happy and contented with the life he has as a college student and a dancer so let's let it be as it is ☺️☺️

OMG, I'm already tired when people keep asking why 17 don't have 17 members. But the thing that CARATs believe 17 supposed to debut with 17 members but 4 lefts is the biggest mistake ever!!! Pledis had never tried to debut a group with 17 members at all, because they set the debut day for 17 twice in 2013 & 2014 and postponed it until 2015 when they sure that the boys in the line up were good enough to debut.17tv was created for Pledis to see which members that fans enjoy watching and who was potential for debut under "17". The members who showed up on 17tv were not consider as 17's debut line but were still training to get to the group. The official members would receive the rings later on. So the title should be "Where are "17TV" former members now?", since they have never been SEVENTEEN once.
They never had 17 members during 17tv at all, the name 17 had the meaning of their average age of debut time (Young, fresh and passionate). That's why their title song were Adore U, not Shinning Diamond. Pledis added Joshua and Minghao to 17 to make sure that they can promote successfully in different countries. SEVENTEEN with 13 members are their fate, their destiny! When other boys out of patience and gave up, the members were struggling even more but still chose to stay. The fact is that Doyoon was a betrayer because he said that 17 won't be successful and his dream was being an actor. He left 17 to follow his dream (which was hurted Seungcheol deeply) and attend a idol survival show after that!!! Like wtf!!! Thanks that because he left, Seungcheol's soul got healing from Jeonghan and Jisoo. Until Seungcheol says that he forgive for Doyoon, I don't think that I'll never let it go. It hurted me badly at that time! Dongjin too! MingMing was an unfortunate, but he has debuted now so it's good! The only boy that I'll support is Samuel, because he still give great support to 17 as much as he can and the members are still adore him as part of their families. 13 members of 17 have the strong bond because they have been gone through hardship together, and they only have 13 members so don't say that you wish that this or that members had stayed! I want to clarify that the 17 members were not true, because they started 17tv with 11 members, some members left so they added new members in.
Please don't say that it will be better if they debut with 17 members, excuse me, these 13 members we have right now have the same dream!!! That's why they have stayed together for 5 years now and even longer in future. We don't need to debut with large number and then people will leave the group soon like Suju or EXO. So don't be ridiculous! Staying at 13 members for a long time are the boys ultimate goal so don't say your careless words, it'll hurt them. During BoomBoom era (?!), a fan told Hoshi at fansite that she wished Samuel stay with 17 to debut. And Hoshi said that "Samuel's dream is to be a solo artist, which is different from us so I glad that he achieves his dream now. 17 with 13 members for me is perfect, I don't want to change anything. I'm a super new carat and watching samuel's story is making me bawl! I just finished watching his drama this morning as well as his music videos and listening to his albums. He's so talented! I feel like he would be so perfect with seventeen. Aaaaahhhhhhh! I'm so sad!!!
Oh and about seventeen name, It was just a concept that pledis present for 17TV to debut 17 member with average 17 years old members. It just a concept to present a boy group that is fresh, loud and crowd. but at the later stage before debut. they didn't seems to focus on number and maybe has some thought that if they stick with 17 members will be too much to handle (they postponed debut several time which made fan so hurt to see old members left one by one).All the member trained so hard years go by. This is my friend guess from roughly listening to live at that time (she start to learn korean to fallow 17TV and direct korea zone live was so lag, spare us if information is wrong)
i believe seventeen is meant for 13, but the thought of all 17 debuting will always haunt my head considering they were all talented kids who had the chance to be known globally. I love Seventeen and though the 4 boys are happy doing their own things now.... I believe they have wanted to be in Seventeen then. It could be seen by them still pursuing the IDOL life even after leaving Seventeen. Maybe Seventeen debut was never a sure thing then and they left because of the long training period. I still felt a sense of regret that they didn't debut with Seventeen. I cant imagine how loud and messy they would have been and how that would change the group dynamics. I still hope they are happy in their own choices now but the tinge of regret that they should have waited....I just couldn't brush that off.
