I just listened to Maria Callas trying to sing this aria. I say trying because she merely screeches (briefly) the top notes, which Dessay sings with incomparable beauty. This is by far the best performance of The Bell Song that I have ever heard.
Léo Delibes is surely looking down saying to himself - 'Dessay's voice matches so exactly my music that I could have written it just for her, I am so happy to hear it sung just as I always imagined it to be sung , merci beacoup Natalie'.
This is the beauty of perfection in the human ( or perhaps I should say divine ) voice for all to cherish. This performance is beyond any words , but if I were to choose at least one , even tho it is feeble in it's summation of this performance .. it would be **SUPERB!**

I haven't heard anyone else do the Ab7 in this piece (after 5:36). She's truly the queen of the 7th octave.
That's not an ab7. That was a very resonant ab6 which make it sound so overtone.
@@shipincognitoandanonymous609 i was wondering this! thought ab7 was pretty high but was too lazy to walk to the piano lol
Yes my Dear!!
Éblouissante!!!
Simplesmente a melhor versão de Air the clochettes. Verdadeira soprano coloratura. Maravilhosa!!!
So much power,so much refinement-incroiable merci!!
I just listened to Maria Callas trying to sing this aria. I say trying because she merely screeches (briefly) the top notes, which Dessay sings with incomparable beauty. This is by far the best performance of The Bell Song that I have ever heard.
Watch the Callas fans freak out at this (accurate) comment.
Perfect and effortless wow
Какой великолепный голос! Представляю, какая она прекрасная Лакме в гриме.
Bravissimo Natalie Dessay.👏👏👏....
You are an amazing singer and your tone is so warm and sweet to listen to anytime, anyday....
5:37 is AMAZING. wow.
Béatrice a what are those notes she hits in whistle voice? That’s far higher than the F (at the end)
@@mosheberk8243 Not whistle voice. Pure head voice. That was a G#6. A G sharp above soprano high C.
To say this is wonderful would be an understatement.
Une vraie délice ❤ Bravooooooo
Callas freaks say Dessay didn't sing it ugly and harsh enough. She hit all the notes.
😂
Léo Delibes is surely looking down saying to himself - 'Dessay's voice matches so exactly my music that I could have written it just for her, I am so happy to hear it sung just as I always imagined it to be sung , merci beacoup Natalie'.
The second time I hear perfect French in this particular aria. Perfect!
Hehe, maybe her nationality helps a bit...
Well for one thing she is French
She's like out of this world❤
it's because of many years hard working and singing.
Really love her timbre, so emotional and pleasant
This is the beauty of perfection in the human ( or perhaps I should say divine ) voice for all to cherish. This performance is beyond any words , but if I were to choose at least one , even tho it is feeble in it's summation of this performance .. it would be **SUPERB!**
Lakme needs to be performed more often so I can hear this aria.
Jose Hill this aria is the reason lakme is almost never performed.
If it isn't sung this well (which one soprano in a million can do,) it would be painful rather than gorgeous. I think I wouldn't want to hear it unless Dessay were Lakmé -- and alas, she is not singing this rep anymore. :( (okay, slight exaggeration. I know there are good coloratura sopranos out there -- but none quite like Natalie at her best!)
This sounds incredibly beautiful & difficult.
Qué voz, que técnica... Què forma de camtar. Fantàstica!!!!!!!!!
Angel Antonio Burgos
'' Qué voz, que técnica ...''
capisco il tuo gusto molto raffinato nella materia ...
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahah !
viva il pop moderno !
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahah !
Still can't believe I can listen it 😭. Majestic 🥺. I feel something familiar to my feelings, listening to her. And i like it
