    Some information:
Babymetal did not break up, they lost one member because of health reasons. And they had temporarity solutions not all fans could appreciate. For now they have 3 other girls fill in for the spot of the member that left.
This video doesn't show the band, but they are still the same musicians they've always worked with (well, one had a fatal accident in late 2017 and died in January). You can see them in other videos.
For a niche band Babymetal does pretty well in the US, their second album was on the billboard chart at number #38 which is almost a record, because it's the highest charting album by a Japanese artist in over 50 years.
They are playing their first arena show in the US this year for the 3rd album release, at The Forum in Inglewood. And still do an other 20 or so shows in the US to support the album as well (the rumor I saw is if The Forum gets sold out fast enough, they might add a second day).
The song is about the fruit papaya, the Thai rapper raps about a Thai papaya salad. :-) So this was definitely not their most interesting or deep/lyrical song LOL
This song is definitely meant for people to join into at the live shows.
Babymetal also has some actual progressive metal songs (one is more a progressive metal balled), the best example is: Tales of the Destinies.
Please react to more Babymetal, for example Road of Resistance Live in Japan, Ijime,Dame,Zettai at Sonisphere,UK 2014, Karate at Download,UK 2016 Babymetal Death at Legend 1997 show.

You guys are correct. Definitely more Pop song style but with a DJ MC as well. Now mixing 3 genres into 1 song. Only Babymetal could get away with that. Just adds to the amazing variety you get with this group.

As you can see... they aren´t 10 years old
But they was at the beginning of Babymetal, 10 and 11 years. Now two of the three girls are as you read below are still in Babymetal. Sukuza (the singer) is now 21 ans Moa (que alternative singer for some songs and chorus) is 20
The Kami band appears in other concerts, but sometimes they put a corridor in the middle of the hall and "travel" on a moving stage. I think because this way the girls can be near a lot more people, not only the first rows. An expensive solution but a nice one. In those concerts the band have less presence, but in others concerts like the ones they do in the Tokyo Dome or in the Tokyo Budokan the band have a strong presence.
Babymetal have some songs a little repetitive like "Give me Choco", "Karate" and this "Pa Pa ya" but also others a lot more complex. Maybe Akatsuki (in live) can be a nice experience or even "no rain no rainbow", a true "metal ballad" or "Rondo of Nightmare"
Also, if wanna hear some "hard rock" band from Japan you can miss "Band Maid". A true experience (better in live). They are a group of girls (about 25) who play drums, two guitar, bass and voice dresses as french maids. Looks weird but they rock... seriously. They play like a hell, fast and hard at a very high level
For metal bands in Japan you can miss X-Japan of course, in "modern times" there are some bands like Galneryus or Versalles who deserve a view (among others)

one thing you gotta understand about Babymetal is that they are very much idols, so the girls will always be the focus. but when they are performing live kami band is always with them and they effin' rock! specially when it's a brand new song being performed the cameras will be on the girls so the fans can them dancing too

    • @autohmae

    • @ThefattestCatOnMars
      @ThefattestCatOnMars Před 4 lety +2

autohmae Definitely. If you read a lot of their interviews with Japanese magazines where they can speak a lot more comfortably in their own language, they are so much more involved in the whole creative song writing and production than people think. They are very much artists. With that talent from Suzuka especially, they are better than the “idol” title regardless of them being signed off as technical idols.

Hey guys! Interesting reaction! I had to VPN to Germany to watch it, it's blocked everywhere else. Unfortunately their label Amuse is really draconian with copyright takedowns on their new stuff. A couple pieces of info for you though:
    1. BabyMetal didn't disband, one of the Kami Band guitarists passed away tragically due to a fall at the end of 2017, and one of the girls had to leave due to health reasons and they performed without her for over a year, now they have three rotating members to fill her spot.
    2. They are backed by the Kami Band (God Band) which is made up of some of the best metal musicians from Japan, and in my opinion the world. They're in behind on the far stage, you can kind of see them at times but the girls were the main focus of this video.
    3. This song is quite pop-ish, it's a fun summer festival song that they're singing about, to shout, make noise, and dance. F.Hero raps in Thai about Papaya salad and going to the beach, heh.
I'd highly recommend you react to "Road of Resistance Live in Japan" to really get a sense of what BabyMetal is all about! That reaction won't get copyright blocked.

You seem like an interesting bunch. :-) I like how Dad starts to smile right on the first note. :-)
Unfortunately, the focus seems to shift away from the band a bit this year (edit: band as in instrumentalists). But it's not as bad as it looks in this video, the video just concentrates on the girls. They are there, and they are awesome!
BABYMETAL have never been gone, but 2018 was a tough year, because one of the girls left and one of their guitarists died after an accident at age 36. They decided to go for a somewhat darker look for a while, which didn't sit well with all fans. But 2019 started off way better, the smiles are huge again and watching them is pure fun!
If you want to see more of the awesome band, perhaps try this performance of "Rondo of Nightmare", you won't regret it: czcams.com/video/QxYAcIyk2Co/video.html

@@charlesedwards2856 true, the audio is a total mess and the crowd pretty static, though the girls won at least a part of them,
still it was the first broadcast of them performing Shanti and it's their first serious test outside Japan after the not so glorious 2018 world tour. There were a lot of expectations, haters were pretty sure they were done once and for all, they proved otherwise nailing it even on a not so friendly ground.
