What happens if you release a bomb in space?
Not a theme..lol
A paint scheme on an aircraft or spacecraft is called a Livery.
Where do you buy more bombs?
Can't wait to start testing at the proving grounds. And by proving grounds I mean major cities.
Glad I didn’t melt my CCU, going to CCU my carrack to A2 and my m2 to Perseus
That's a good idea lol I have one think for a loaner for my Polaris.
I am sorry did I just nuke your outpost! sucks to be you...hehe, I love this ship!
gonna be funny at orison
What most don’t realize about the Hercules is that the VTOL is so powerful it’s almost impossible for any ship to comfortably stay above you. A triple crew A2 has become my favorite VHRT/ERT and PVP killer.
In the PTU at 500m above sea level, a single bomb destroyed my A2 and at 750m a single bomb took out my A2 shields all 4 sides of it. I wasn't doing a bombing run, I was hovering in mid air and I just dropped the bomb, so the bomb is pretty powerful.
ok so safe range is about over 800, noted lmao
@@raigaLCC you might want to re-test it as this was 1 year old news and is PTU
@@red_fox1140 i might if i have the chance lmao, waiting for invictus to see if there's any new starters ships for me to pick, haven't brought 1 yet lmao
@@raigaLCC if u dont mind you can use my referr code if you like
very helpful even years later, thanks man
Good video, thank you STL - good to see you back in the game! And many of those laser cannons, to me, for hitting turrets and other hard targets on the ground.
For an update on what it kills, a near-miss will one-shot everything except an 890 (which takes two in quick succession).
You can drop two at once!
@@buzzfightbeer8023 hot
I was able to get a cyclone MT, a Nova and a ballista inside an A2 well enough; you just have to keep the cyclone in between the narrow bomb areas. It's not a lot of room but you can do it with room to exit the vehicle. Outside of the pledge cost, I'm not seeing much reason to keep my M2 anymore, I can squeeze more or less the same amount into this one and still have an obscene amount of air to ground firepower. I love that you can shoot the bombs down; I wonder if anyone has tried stopping it mid-air with a gravity gun yet (pretty sure I saw a guy catch a missile somewhere here on CZcams once, it was hilarious).
I appreciate the guide. I have an A2, that I'm planning to CCU, but thought I'd check it out before I do. I don't see much point of using it currently, but I'm sure that will change.
Nova Tank/Tonk fits fine; use P key to turn off/retract the long main turret gun and it will wheel in just fine; haven't tried two yet.
Came here to figure out how to use the A1 bomber and it helped a lot thanks!
Any plans on an A1 video?
It’s the Starcitizen equivalent of the AC130 Spooky gunship. It’d not meant to even think about a dog fight. It’s meant to roll in and make parking lots. It’s meant to turn infantry into soup.
correction those fins are in correlation with the actual moab bomb which has been around longer than space x
The fun part is that those bombs are high-drag bombs. The fins aren't there to guide them to target, but to slow them down. High-drag bombs are used for low altitude drops, to give you time to gtfo.
And yet if you drop them as low as you'd think you should, you will pretty much always nuke yourself. Because the blast radius on those things is absolutely absurd.
Let me tell you, all that putting most of the firepower on the bottom does is provide hostile pilots a false sense of security. The last thing a shameful number of pilots will see is an unexpected twist unmasking the turret farm on the bottom.
This is basically how dogfighting a liberator in Planetside goes if the crew is at all competent and this thing is just a pretty liberator with a few more people onboard.
Does the physics of the planet play into it, so high gravity planets will the bomb fall faster versus a planet with almost no gravity will it fall lighter, or would it bounce before it goes off?
Hey citizens! Just my take in regards to all the underside firepower of the A2, in addition to ground attack support, the falling bombs are vulnerable to destruction from ground or air fire. I'd propose those turrets can lay down considerable fire to deter fire on the falling bomb(s) until they reach the target. Then the secondary mission of delivering the tank, equipment or supplies after the ground resistance has been neutralized. That's how I've begun practicing tactics with my A2 at least, bombing runs, then quick😀insertion approaches and landings. Seems like a good tactic until first contact with opposition probably. 🤔Fighter cover above as needed would definitely enhance effectiveness and chances to last long enough to land the armor and vehicles. I got my A2 for the tactical and strategic teamwork aspects and it's multi-role capabilities. Great vid as usual Youngblood, keep up the great work!👍🏽
thanks
I have seen people put two tanks into the A2 even though it’s a tight fit. That means it’ll also at least fit one Ballista with the largest ship it can carry still being an Aurora.
How big are the tanks?! The loading area seems so big.
@@lystic9392 the tanks in this game is massive it's not like an M1 Abrams
You also need to take into account the time required to release the bomb from the clamps. So if you wait until you are dead center, you will miss the target if it takes a second or two for the bomb to leave the ship.
We're getting closer to the Banu Merchantman 😁. The family that's a loaner for the BMM. And arguably a merchant of death.
from my testing all ships die to the bombs that are currently player flyable. idk about the idris as it is npc control only in space and the bombs don't work in space(they need gravity). i thought this ship would have more bombs and more bomb bays(like 4 bays not 2). was hoping we would also get carpet bombs with the ship but this is fine. As for shooting them down, yeah it works and if the enemy does it fast enough you die to your own bomb. nice vid
I wonder if you were strafing down, towards a target, if the bomb would deploy with inertia?
The A2 is actually really good in space combat. Even just having 2 people man the single S5's and the pilots S5's, a hammer head blows in seconds. The turrets have enough inclination that they can fire where the pilot is aiming.
That's until someone gets above it
I don't understand what use are the weapon racks if we can just dump weapons in the ship inventory?
Quick access: guests on the ship may not be able to access ship inventory
This is a mixture of the real world B52 and the AC130
those fins are more akin to high drag guided bombs
Crosshairs dont show for me
The cost to repair, refuel and re arm this is going to break the bank in the economy
Nah, I just get my Orion and go out for an astroid run to pay for my bombs!
Will we ever have an opportunity to buy an A2 with AUEC in game? Maybe in 3.17 or 3.18?
Now that shields aren't operational when moving in quantum mode, ships with armor are looking even better.
11:25 Boooom!!!! I Was waiting for your thoughts on this! ...and Booooooom!!!! :)
BOOM!
Hey I need some help. Whenever I switch to bombs. My bombing crossbar only flashes for a second then goes away. I've tried resetting the game and everything it just won't stay there. Is there a setting or something?
Seems pretty OP right now.
Not sure how to defend e.g. an outpost against such a bomb at all
I would guess that there will be structures in the game at some point to defend against these kind of things. point defense guns, antiaircraft emplacements, and shield generators for example. but for now, not much.
The bombs are easily managed by fighters, if they are watching for them. Plenty of org battles on CZcams now showing this. Once an A2 is spotted, 1 or 2 fighters are detailed to bomb watch. They can be targeted like anything else.
@@Cornpone So you need to hire someone to protect your outpost 24/7 of the potential threat of a bomber?
Yes thats a design flaw
Cool ship but they do even have a gameplay loop planned where this would be useful?
Rotating jump town event that’s coming for sure
The Milsim community will have a use for it.
If you are inside a building, will it still damage someone?
Hold T to turn the light blue circle green...since keybinds vary, are you referring to the default target lock T?
Might have to have an org-night to test this out. A2's vs Ballistas :)
Clearly the shining engine is showing because that's how Cij roles. If you don't need to cover it, don't. Just like the wires that show in various places.
Thank you for the new gameplay content.
Is there a maximum altitude to drop those things? Other than the top of the atmosphere. Could you drop it from 100,000km above lorville? How long would that take to hit the ground?
You mean being able to drop them from above the armistice zone onto a planetary base? I haven't tried it...I wonder if the gravity is too low at that height to reliably deploy? Interesting thought!
Great video. You can also dive bomb if you are brave enough. ;)
lol truth!
8:50 if you came here to findout how bombing works -.-
Where can I purchase in game?
Can you instruct the ship computer a.i.? to fire the remote gums
It should able to be missile carrier though. TU 160 and B 52 can do it and you tell me a future space bomber cant do it. Imagine this A2 has escort and doing anti capital missile maneuver run
Is there even anything to bomb in the Verse right now, or is it all kind of role-play for self-organized shenanigans? Like… even if you drop a MOAB on a FPS bunker mission building, it’s not like it’ll register mission objective kills, right?
You can bomb ground vehicles, or ships landed at an outpost, but mostly RP
You can take the defenses of the bunker missions. As well as grief anything landed in an outpost (*sigh*).
There are no legit targets for any of the warfighting ships for now.
Glow is cherenkov effect??
Anyone know what planet/moon he's doing the bombing at?
Did they fix the black square issue with the smoke ?
From what I've seen, yes
Does anyone know how to reload the bombs on the A2? I check online, I asked people in the chat and no one can point me in the right direction
Not having top turret coverage was a bad idea. Bombs are there for destroying stuff on the ground. Fighters will attack from above while landed/unloading vehicles.
They just need to move the rear cannon up Abit and it's all good
It's supposed to double as a sort of AC-130, hence all the bottom guns
8:42 bombing portion
I bet this thing can light up the landing pads at Port Olisar though. Lol.
luckily it can't, bombs will not release if there is no gravity
I found the hud to be buggy, doesn't always show the locations of the target. also don't always get an explosion
MOAB BABY YEAH!
Analytics!
The SpaceX fin are usually called grid fins and are made of titanium. On the ptu I have been able to fit a tank up the back ramp.
Are defence turrets going to auto shoot these bombs down? I don’t like the size of the AOE - is one bomb going to destroy my homestead is 10s flat before I even get to react?
Point defense and missile turrets will be an option for player outposts, as can be seen in the Citzcon video. Hopefully they will auto-engage any bombs, torps, and missiles flying into their envelope.
you make no sense haha not many homes have ciws. thats were protection from greater orgs or settlements come into play.
@@agent7426 Dev words, dude, not mine. Look it up.
as long as the vanguard doesn't fly below it. No-Go zone.
The amount of firepower this thing can put out even in space is awesome!! This will be the Belle of the ball in the next xenothreat or similar event.. I just don't think it's going to be a keeper for me. I'll upgrade it to the Polaris or the pending Anvil capital ship that's still TBA.
The Liberator? Or is there another Anvil capital ship? Not being /sarcastic, I haven't been keeping up nearly well enough with new ships lately.
@@SubduedRadical at the last fleet week I believe, there was a transmission that was either leaked or released pertaining to Anvil teaming up with a ship making facility. This place is well known for making capital ships. At first we thought it was the Liberator but that isn't a capital ship at all. This means there's still an ship in the air for Anvil that's comparable to either the Polaris or Idris.
@@durtyred86 :O
Well...put me down as "intrigued", then. :D
I love RSI's "Ford" (car company) aesthetic, but I love Anvil's "gritty, earthy, but not as low budget as Drake" feel.
And I don't mean that as a shot at Drake, but Anvil reminds me of the NX Enterprise, UNSC (Halo) ships, or the Human ships from Stargate. All of which I love the design of a lot.
@@durtyred86 Is there an Aegis capital ship? Aegis is my favorite brand due to the gladius and would be nice if they do have a capital
@@momakkjj9502 there are a few capital ships under Aegis. The Javelin being the largest flyable ship in the verse is the most expensive. Then there's the Idris, a frigate. There's also the Nautilus, a minelayer and lastly the Hammerhead, a sub capital heavy gunship. Aegis has the most out of any manufacturer but soon Anvil will pick up the slack.
Yeah the 890 can take 1 hit, but will die on the next bomb drop. We had 2 890s at a ship show and we both survived. But ALL the other ships got blown up. RIP 🪦
Would have appreciated an actual bomb sight... with crosshairs and all. Be much more accurate if this was the case.
What it's using is similar to how modern fighters like super hornets or f-16 drop their munitions, and it is significantly more accurate than old fashioned bomb sights
Do we know the minimum gravity well necessary to drop the bombs? What altitude with what amount of gravity is necessary for them to make planet/moon fall? What happens if you drop them in space, and is there a failsafe to keep them from deploying if the minimum conditions are not met? How do different atmospheric densities effect the drop speed, if at all?
I realize it's likely no one knows this, but I'm not sure if anyone has tested for these factors yet.
Those are stabilizing fins. Bomb makers have been using them before Elon was born
Ship needs to ditch its cargo area and fill it with more bomb bays, there no reason for a bomber to carry cargo especially since there are TWO other variants of this ship for cargo carrying
The USAF AC130 follows this idea and has no cargo space
BASS BOMBER
This thing will be very scary for anyone on the ground, assuming the pilot can hit anything lol
Hit me up with your Discord Name and # so I can get you into the server for supporters!
1 nova and 1 ballista will fit
a balista, a tank and a dragonfly will fit together in a2.
I like Big Bombs and I cannot Lie..
Colossus bomb... yes, this is a CR game.
And at one point, we will blow up a planet/moon, for sure. xD
Where are you located during this video???? I need to go here wtf
Eh this is OK for first implementation but we really need something like CCRP over this poor man's version of CCIP that we have. Watch a DCS CCRP video and you'll quickly know why I say that.
This would have been better had you not shown all these different angles. Show what everything looks like from inside then you can pan out after bombs dropped.
Its called the Starlifter because its literally carrying and being powered by small star. Lol.
btw...........is carpet bombing doable?
It is obviously more bombs can fit in those racks. Mediocre CIG...
People using this in ghost hollow now. thats what i call pvp. not
We have spaceships but have to use dumb iron bombs? LMAO. Weird game design decision
Incredibly destructive, but hard to use. Unrealistic, but makes sense balance-wise.
It's weird at current state, but once they put more reasons to entrench and use heavy ground forces, it may make more sense. Overall though, it's a SUPER niche 750 buck ship
Agreed. I think it's a weird balance decision. Not sure how it will survive the AA/Sam's though
@@STLYoungblood Heavy ground forces? Cruise Missiles. Lots of guided missiles, a nuclear missile / torpedo. Anything but slow-falling dumb bombs dropped from an overhead flight adding unecessary risk to the ship/crew.
And we probably will get a profession where you climb on top of the bomb magazine and punch the jammed bombs with a sledgehammer until it unjams...
