Journalist Philip Sherburne, writing about ‘Sheet One’ in 2011, states: “The first Plastikman album was ‘Sheet One’. Its title suggests a new beginning, a clean slate - that’s furthered by the record’s spontaneous origins.
The majority of the album was recorded in a two-day span in early 1993. It went on to become one of the most iconic albums in electronic music, and introduced Plastikman to a public far beyond the Midwest.
Right there on the cover, it was represented in the splotchy Plastikman symbol, an avatar that was soon to become ubiquitous throughout the global electronic music underground. And it was represented in the CD sleeve, which appeared to consist of perforated acid blotter. The blotter paper underscored the psychedelic nature of the music."

One of the best albums ever. I bought it 30 years ago and last year my wife bought me a record player. So nice to listen to all your old classics. Minus Orange is my all time favorite techno track.

Remember hearing Plastikman for the first time cruising around in my car late one weekend night on the late great John Peel Show, I was thinking f#ck me this is too good, went out and bought the album the next weekend, been listening ever since. Wow 30 years though, makes me feel old.
Me too, I'm 60 next year and still love it. Vinyl dwindling but it's still there...
I had a strobe light that fitted the cd covers art work. U could see the acids and the cover at same time.
This album has set the mark for acid techno, was my fav' album back in the days been a vinyl dj for more than 30 years but in every set I play I always put a couple of plastikman choons. This album is legendary thanks Ritchie

After years of not listening to this album straight thru, I'm finding myself mezmerized and enchanted just like the first times listening to it. Richie captures a certain blissful vibe that is not easy to do in so many ways, but he has the IT factor for doing it again and again. It also makes my brain think about the music that Stephen Bodzin makes. There are some emotional parallels between the two, interesting. It's a sweet pocket to lay in for a bit.
Hawtin is for me in a tiny group wich delivers something special emotionally... such as painted art... yea you can print the masterpieces, even in high quality, but if you see the original live... its different and you understand why its so special ,unless you arent ready to understand
The included blotter paper turned out to be useful. 8-) Great album, brings back memories.

Having the front cover of the CD look like 4 sheets of acid was some ingenious marketing. It definitely got people talking about Sheet One, pthat’s how I originally heard about Plastikman when I was in High School.
Anyone ever dip their original cd cover in anything good? It’s very tempting 😂

Bought the cd in '94. Lots of memories associated with every track. That moment when one of these got played at 5am .. the party was going deep when a sheet one track dropped. 👾

I bought this CD new when it came out. I appreciated the minimalism then, and do even more now. I remember seeing Kurt Loder on MTV news saying some kid got arrested because the CD cover looked like blotter paper! That is how I discovered you and sought out Sheet One. 👽👍🏼
