      @Hitchslapjjp Před 7 lety +3

      It has nothing to do with being a gunsmith. It is rather disconcerting that a full grown man and a gun owner cannot differentiate between a clip and a magazine much less need instructions to load the weapon. Knowledge of this sort is rudimentary, to say the least.

    This was one of the most helpful videos I have ever watched.
    I have owned my Glock 22 for 3 years now and had not been able to figure out how the "speedloader" worked.
    So I have struggled with my clip loading using my fingers.
    I am not very strong so it is a pain for me to load the last 3-4 bullets when I am at the range.
    Found this instructional video and it just explained very simple for me how to use the loader. Thank you for posting this for me (not very experienced shooter) and doing it in a way that did not embarrass me for not figure this "simple thing out".

      +Jarod Morris, Only because he's holding or pointing to the actual object. I could hold up a map of the United Kingdom, and say, "Here's a map of England," and those familiar with European geography might know what I "meant" (because they can see it's actually a map of Great Britain, not just England), but those unfamiliar with it might be led to believe the whole of Great Britain is England. You could argue, "Big deal; England is part of the United Kingdom," but I doubt those from Wales or Scotland would appreciate the lack of specificity ;-)

      When you have a civilian that hasn't had much training or was trained by another civilian with no fire arm experience, they say things like clip, bullets, cock the slide, those sort of things. I correct them to teach them but I DO NOT blame them. I blame their instructors for teaching them wrong. My dad always said as long as you know and understand what some one is trying to say, leave them alone. If they was taught wrong, teach them right.

    Yeah I sure appreciate you posting this video.Now I can work with that speed-loader since it came with a gun I recently purchased.It's no-joke rough packing a new magazine with bullets for a Glock so it's handy having the speed-loader here to help out.Thanks!

    • @The_Dave_1776
      @The_Dave_1776 Před 9 lety +1

      Mack Lack They still called magazines clips well into the 90's, TV and movies still call them clips. If the video is aimed at new shooters they'll know what a clip is.

    • @mayito714
      @mayito714 Před 9 lety +2

      In 1965 during drill exercises in Paris Island I was introduced to a Colt 1911 magazine and a clip for an M1 Garand. Not sure much changed in the US Marines since then....

    • @The_Dave_1776
      @The_Dave_1776 Před 9 lety

      And in 1965, when my father had joined the Army and was at Fort Lewis, Washington, the terms were interchangeable with the M14. If someone says a clip for a gun, you know EXACTLY what they mean. Also, M1 Garands weren't standard issue in 65. The M14 was already fazing out.

    • @mayito714
      @mayito714 Před 9 lety

      The M1 continued to be used in large numbers until 1963 and to a lesser degree until 1976. The Marines did not see a M14 till 1965. Many soldiers were not issued the M14 and headed to Nam with the M1. If you follow Hollywood scripts they call a magazine a clip but I assure you that no officer in the US marines who packed a sidearm callede a magazine a clip or vice-versa.. Ask your dad....

    • @The_Dave_1776
      @The_Dave_1776 Před 9 lety

      Mack Lack I did. My father who was in the Arm, served in Nam, and was a police detective, and then in corrections (over all a time of about 25 years in law enforcement). The term was interchangeable.

      +SOUNDWAVE's K6GsxR1K, Just because we know what he meant (because we can see him holding or pointing to the actual object) doesn't mean it's the same thing. A clip doesn't feed rounds into the chamber; a magazine does. Being accurate and consistent with terminology, especially when it comes to things like guns, is an important habit to develop.

    Really shitty terminally you used. You're teaching people new to guns the wrong names for the weapons parts. It's not a "10 round clip" it's a 10 round magazine and GLOCKS come in .380, 9mm, .357 Sig, .40 S&W 10mm, .45 ACP and even .50 GI if you buy the slide kit aftermarket.

    I cringe everytime he says the word clip. I know what he means, the world KNOWS what he means, but its not because he is right but because he is so friggin wrong! Its like calling the trigger the hammer, or the barrel the receiver. A clip is different than a mag. He's using the wrong word, and the only reason we know what he means is because of mass ignorance and media!.
    Sure, this is for beginners, thanks to him for his good intention and information. But SINCE its for beginners, lets start them off learning the right words? Lets reinforce good intellectual practice and education instead of perpetuating ignorance by ingraining it into beginners?
    Side note: this guy just SOUNDS like a beginner himself. using the word "clip"
    - "Most Glocks are 9mm"
    - "No they aren't"
    - "9mm is one of the more popular calibers of Glock firearms".....wtf
    When he was new to "Glock" he didn't know how to load the "Clip".
    Its really no different than any other pistol mag out there! It was probably his first gun.
    The worst part of it all? He's got over 100k views and his target audience is beginners! Great, another 100k people using the wrong word.
    EDIT: He's done a lot of videos since then. He needs to just redo this video.
    ARRGH!

      As a side note: This was 2 years ago so I can't remember what frame of mind I was in when I wrote it, maybe I was having a bad day, maybe a day filled with people messing up the terminology - I have no clue. Long story short, I have no idea why I felt I needed to write an essay about it either. :)

      As ex US Navy, a magazine is a compartment below decks and therefore a clip is the device that holds small caliber ammo.
