  • Model tunnel liners easy and low cost in segments. Suitable both for retrofit in existing tunnels as well as in new. The method is valid for any scale of model railroad. "See the light in the end of the tunnel, not in the tunnel!"

    Great use of disposed material.
One of the things that is Dissapointing when people do a cab cam video of their railway is the inside of the tunnels.
This method can help with that problem, however if you don't at least paint the inside of the rest of the tunnel with some grey paint then the rest of the tunnel looks out of place with the rest of the layout.
The inside of the tunnel when using a cab cam is important too.
    Great tutorial. 👍

Hi, Love your videos!!! Another method is to use the green scrubby backing on sponges for your liners. You can get these green pads without the sponge. Cut to fit the tunnel liner and the proper length of the mountain. Paint black or whatever. If you use foam tack glue, which grabs very fast, you can work them into your tunnel and stand them up. Works well. Bob - -Brecksville Ohio - US

Works well and is important having a video camera running along the track. Make the
liner removable incase derailments. Regards Harry

Would it be better to make the piano wire long enough to go all the way through the foam and through the holes in the other portal?

I just use some paper and curve it after I painted it black or dark brown. So you get something like a turned U. Than I glue it on both sides. It is much more easy I think.

to have a smoother cut on stirofoam, you should have a thinner wire so it gets hotter, but be careful with the amperage, you don't want to exceed 4-5 Amps

Hi! There is a video being published next Friday on how to both carve and paint portals. I have a poll active right now where you can vote for the type of portals I will make in the video. There are currently only 9 votes so yours will have significant weight. Check out the Patreon page for information and poll (Link is upper right hand corner, in the banner of the channel page).

  • @HenrikSweden1
