She sounds great here! My singing teacher used to tell us that the voice isn't fully warmed up until 10am, so I can understand Kelly's frustration!
WORD! And that's if you get up at about 6 or 7 AM! Get up at 9 and you won't have a fully warm and functional voice until more or less 2 PM!
There's way to warm up efficiently during those morning times, but you have to be SUPER intentional about it and still have the time and resources for it. The human voice isn't like the orchestral instrument...we don't just warm up our voices, we have to warm up or body too and that takes time, and it gets frustrating when people view vocalists as high maintenance and 'divas' when that literally how the human voice works...it takes time to do!
I've been following Kelly since Season 1 of American Idol. I've seen her live many times. She is absolutely amazing! Her voice and abilities are absolutely insane! She truly is one of the greatest vocalists of our time. Furthermore, she is genuinely one of the sweetest people out there. She is truly beautiful inside and out! Oh, and her new album. Is flawless! One of her best!

Kelly Clarkson is easily the greatest vocalist of this generation! I agree Graeme. I have always said that if there was a 4th to join the Vocal Trinity (Mariah, Whitney, and Celine) it’s Kelly Clarkson. Beyoncé too. I think my problem with Beyoncé is that there isn't enough texture to her voice. Technically she is an A+ but there's just something about her voice that isn't engaging to me.
For me, this is one of the best performances ever, not just by Kelly but by any artist. And knowing that it was recorded at 7 am is just mindblowing! I just hope that she can become kinder to herself, seeing how she's all like "nah, this wasn't perfect" breaks my heart

Man, reading the title, I thought Kelly was going a bit evil with her song but watching this made such more sense.😂 She truly is incredible. Hitting the high notes is hard but doing so, so dang early in the morning seems excruciating. Kelly rocked it!

What I like about Kelly's singing is 1 it's in tune, 2 there's a lot of suggested turbulence in many of her songs that drives an ability for buy in from a wide intuiting or sympathizing audience, and 3 she really extends to really squeeze every ounce of merriment out of her performances- she really wants to fill up the room with the audible, and possibly fill up a small space in your mind for the next day as well. There's a stake/ there are external stakes asserted I think sometimes, or often. And I think it feels like it winds folks up to be catapulted with her as she vocally transverses through whatever stakes are asserted. I don't usually compare artists super directly though; everyone has their own lane and forte- I'm not RS mag.
Usually when artists orient toward tackling more turbulence, pitch is a problem. This has always been something that has made Kelly stand out for me in that she hasn't had that problem. It really is no small feat

I have never met the woman in person i have watched her since season 1 of American Idol. She seems so sweet and down to earth. I like the fact that she is very complimentary to her back up singers and band mates. That hour of the morning i can see how it could be tough on a singer. I mean you have to take into account that they need to be up at probably 3 am to get to the studio by 4am to start rehearsal and sound check then getting ready with hair- make up to be ready for the live show by 7am. I think she did really well even though she really is her hardest critic.

The show has its times. Kelly doesn't have to appear if its too early for her. In the entertainment industry its quite normal to have 4am pickups to get to set. So, although it is an understandable complaint, one which I myself have made numerous times, entertainers choose to be there. They could be programmers, doctors, lawyers or work a 9 to 5, but this is the lifestyle they've chosen.
Kelly sounds and looks amazing!! She seems happy and is SO popular and busy. Maybe that awful sponge she was married to was just pulling her down!? I'm so happy for her!

The voice has to warm up. Early morning singing is not the optimal time because the voice is still waking up so to speak.
