- I am going to show you how to do an oil & oil filter change on this 2006 Saturn Vue this Saturn Vue has a Honda 6 cylinder engine in it. The reason I am telling you that is if you have a different engine in there you will be using a different filter & it might be in a different location.

Thanks for this video. I forgot where the oil filter is since the last oil change. I only have 119,000 on my Saturn. It was a gift from a dying father last year. I love my Saturn and it is very special to me. ❤ I’m a 55 yr young lady and am not getting ripped off again. So do my own oil changes like I did. When I was younger!
Sorry for your loss. The Saturn is a a nice car all around. Great that you are maintaining it yourself. Beside saving some $$$ it is very satisfying. It does have some challenges when having to make repairs. Here is another Saturn video if you would like to watch, this one is changing the alternator & belt czcams.com/video/4BGgY2GVwrM/video.html.
LadyJedi3, I am glad this was of help. And thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. LadyJedi3 I have other videos on my channel that cover many different subjects, several on the Saturn and new videos added weekly that may also be of help or interest.

What about a 2009 Saturn vue
Thanks Joe, I have a twin to your Vue and had the oil changed yesterday at a PepBoys. One time deal. When I got it in the garage at home I put a clean sheet of cardboard underneath to watch for leaks. This morning there were spots in quite a few place toward the front but none near the filter or drain plug. Guess the tech must have spilled oil when refilling? Started to do a cleanup and then do a recheck when I decided to pull the dip stick. WAY WAY over filled. Past the full level by about a good 1/4" up the stick. Ended up sucking almost 40 ounces out to get the level down to the full level. Guess I'll be like Joe and resume diy. Cheers, Richard
Sorry for the late reply. My computer came
in contact with the garden hose about 9 days ago. I tried everything I heard of & could think about. Nothing worked. I have the back of it opened, attached a USB keyboard & have to disconnect the original key board once it is powered on. Just sharing. It would have made a good DIY video. ( what NOT to do, what to do & what worked LOL) May still make a video if I venture on changing the org keyboard myself, it is a laptop. I will be sharing this with other comment reply as well. Anyway back to your experience things like that & what I went through always happened as occasional but now it seems to be the norm. Sad, many people are stuck for one reason or another & have to rely on these shops, That said there are many good shops that turn out great work with reasonable pricing but you have to search them out.
40 ounces too much 🤷♂️ wow. I have gotten a few ounces less but never extra. You may have saved your engine finding this out early.
Stay safe my friend, Joe Z
Nicely done
Thanks for the visit.
Stay well, Joe Z
Im glad you put a link to the rubber strap wrench. I haven't been able to find mine for over 2 years. Its about time I ordered a couple new ones.
These work great. Like I said in the video they were sold as jar openers.
REUSE RECYCLE REPAIR REPURPOSE theme of my channel.
Stay well Victor & say hi to Carroll.
I used to take the oil for all of the Southside in Chatt TN because I had a big waste oil heater that I used to heat 10,000 sq ft shop for almost 20 years. It was a 350,000 BTU Shenandoah brand. It was worth every penny of the $8,000 it cost to purchase.
I have a trailer that I am considering to make into a work shop. Do you know if they have a smaller version of these heaters that are safe to work with in a smaller area? I known it has to be vented but a little concern about any fumes in such a small space.
@@JOEZEP54 I know they make Diesel Parking Heater. I use it in my semi truck. I’m not sure if it works with waste oil but you could give it a try.
@@markm0000 Thank you Mark.
I just did my son’s Vue today and boy did the shop that last changed it over tighten that plug! I also had to use my breaker bar. The filter is a mess to change also. I used Valvoline 5/20 high-mileage and a bottle of high-mileage Rislone additive.
This is lack of training, know how or just don't care unfortunately is more common today. Years back it was the exception. Best we do what ever repairs we are able to. I try to get this done during the summer months. All my work is done outside. But every once in a while when it is due and there is snow on the ground I take the chance.
Stay well, Joe Z
@@JOEZEP54 Take care Joe. Your video is one of the best how-tos on YT!
I prefer using the mobile 1 synthetic high mileage oil and a Purolator filter
Thank you for stopping by. This is what the previous owner used & I continued using. Not sure if it would help any to change at this point.
Stay well, Joe Z
Nice, I’d love to see how you change the transmission oil in the car.
Thank you. I haven't changed the transmission oil (yet). Depending on the age & miglage on the car changing the transmission oil "may" do more harm than good.. I do not have a video on this topic but reasearch it before you have it changed. Hope you get to visit again. Your support will be appreciated.
Stay well, Joe Z
If those rubber filter wrenches start to slip then sand them down a little and you can get a few more years out of them.
Good tip!!! Thank you for sharing.
Joe. You were in fact turning the oil plug in the wrong direction in order to get it off.
Good eye! Paying too much attention to the camera I did in fact start to turn in the wrong direction but quickly realized that & corrected. It did not show in the video due to a little mishap with the camera. Thank you for stopping by & commenting. I appreciate your input.
Stay well, Joe Z
How’s your injury? Doc recommends single malt scotch or some variant of domestic beer - as needed. 👍🏼
Thank you for asking. It is healing ok. All the swelling is gone along with the scab that formed over the puncture. Still not up to full strength or able to make a tight fist but getting better. Your recommendation will be taken under serious consideration 😊😂🤣
Hope all is well with you
Wow whoever put that oil pan bolt on must have had a bad day and wanted to get fired. That’s crazy
Or he was working on commission & looking to upsell. Instead of a $6.00 oil pan bolt a new oil pan 🤔

Well I'm not English fluent
I understand you perfect
Man that filter is such a piece of junk. The Fram filter is alright it does the job. Those oil change places use the worst quality bulk oil they can get and the cheapest filters. They make their money on replacing oil pans and up selling new air filters, windshield wipers, and servicing for the other drivetrain parts.
I agree, it looks like I am just going to keep doing the oil changes myself.
