I Prevail - Every Time You Leave ft. Delaney Jane
LYRICS:
All I ever wanted was to find someone
But holdin' it together is the hardest part
No one said life gets in the way
That our plans may change but our hearts remain
You stand in the doorway holdin’ me
Feeling the tension, you beg and plead
Not to go away again
And then she said
Every time you leave, I lose a little piece of me
And every time we speak, words don't do it justice
It's just us from here
Here, here
And that’s when she said
Every time you leave, I lose a little piece of me
All I ever wanted was to find someone
But finishing the puzzle is the hardest part
Everyday wishin' you could stay
'Cause our minds may change but our hearts remain
You stand in the doorway holding me
Lost in the moment, I can't believe
You gotta go away again
And when I say
Every time you leave, I lose a little piece of me
And every time we speak, words don't do it justice
It's just us from here
Here, here
And that's when she said
Every time you leave, I lose a little piece of me
'Cause if you ever start to hesitate
And you feel the weight, it starts to break
We’re the not the same
Know that this means everything to me
Oh to me, oh to me, oh to me, oh to me
Every time you leave, I lose a little piece of me
And every time we speak, words don’t do it justice
Every time you leave, I lose a little piece of me
And every time we speak, words don't do it justice
It’s just us from here
Here, here
And that's when she said
Every time you leave, I lose a little piece of me
All I ever wanted was to find someone
But finishing the puzzle is the hardest part
(I lose a little piece of me)
No one said life gets in the way
It's just us from here
Here (I lose a little piece of me)
Here, I lose a little piece of me

Hey man, as coming from military along with my family, your all good, we don't hate everyone just the ones wh seek to do harm unto others
I hope you're staying safe, this world has changed for the worse. All the violence and destruction needs to stop, people don't want to look at others as fellow humans that have families and lives. It's disgusting.

Man this paints a picture of what goes on over there and how fragile human life can be. The man who’s over in the Middle East looks like he was forced into a war he wanted nothing to do with. He gets killed trying to escape back to his family but the American soldier gets to go home to her husband. That is a powerful message that speaks volumes. You guys nailed it.
I agree but it also shows there's bad people over there too. Personally I'm pro-military but I'd just like to see it get used in a way that helped the oppressed in other countries instead of what happens a lot, where they just make things worse. There's heroes and villains on both sides
Yes. It's a very powerful message, but if the guy didn't try to escape, he wouldn't have gotten killed. Of course, it begs a question like, "What would they have done with POWs like him if he stayed?" or "Would they have killed him anyway even if he didn't try to escape?" If the script was flipped, and the Iraqi guy got to go home to his family and the American woman was captured, she would have most likely been killed with absolutely no mercy because they don't have a set humane guidelines for POWs like the U.S. does. That's not to say all Iraqi POWs are treated humanely and American POWs are always killed. I'm just saying, in general, he would've had a better chance at getting back to his family if he didn't try to escape.
@@sethbowling Or a one way ticket to Guantanamo Bay. It's also worth mentioning many foreign soldiers are told that the US are monsters and will kill them just to make them fight more. In North Korea soldiers are actually brainwashed into believing that the US are as bad as the Nazi

I spent 10 months in Afghanistan doing Detainee Ops. I saw multiple scenarios like this. Many of the prisoners under my control did not choose to be involved. They were forced by threats to their families and friends. Many of them were innocent and just got scooped up because they're were with the wrong people and the wrong time. Buy I believe we did a good job filtering them out to their local justice system, and most of them were released back to their lives. It's a sad situation over there. This video pretty much sums up my life for that year.
@SRO thank you for your reply and your support
I think that is part of the complexity of war, perspectives are lost in the actions. Violence brings out our worst but the reflection of after it you see humanity at it's most vulnerable - I would also like to thank you for doing what many others would not choose to do man.
Yeah that's called a draft
You said it brother.
I was in Kandahar and saw the huts right outside the perimeter. Those people are just farmers. They want nothing to do with the war.
Please hit me up if you need to talk.

Easily the hardest part of the military right here (Army for me), saying goodbye to my family. I'm stationed on one coast and they live on the opposite. Roughly 3,000 miles apart. I got to visit with them for a small bit of time and we just had to say our goodbyes again. My mom's tears. My sister throwing on her tough girl face to try and be strong. And my niece, confused why I can't stay with her, wishing that I wouldn't leave her again. NEVER gets any easier. You can become numb to many things but not everything. Shit really rips apart your soul. Apologies for the little rant, but venting helps. Many blessings to everyone who took the time to read this, and an extra blessing to everyone that's lived this (or something similar)

Having served in three tours to Iraq this video hit me deep. Although I did come home in one piece physically, I came home in a dozen pieces mentally. To all of those men and women who live with the fear of uncertainty regarding their spouses returning home, that fear, for a lot of soldiers on the front line, is magnified ten fold. It's crippling mentally for some, a little less for others, even experiencing the same events side by side. Hold each other close and embrace your soldier when they return, they will most certainly need it
And if you need help Fucken reach out! There are two sides, both trying to survive to make it home to their families.
You are exactly right! First, thank you both for your selfless act of service! That means a lot. My dad was in the Air Force and my brother is currently Army Reserve. If you live in a world that forces you to make hideous choices to survive, doing those things it not your fault. It's the fault of a world that put you in that position in the first place. I used to be a junkie right? I started doing this shit to deal with childhood abuse and trauma and shit I couldn't handle that left me fucked up. and I had this woman I was friends with get into drugs with me and her son. I would literally shoot her up cuz I was better at finding a vein. She almost died on me a few times. I got clean, but she didn't, and she died. I carried that guilt for a long time, like if i'd never started doing it and brought her into that world, if i hadn't gotten clean and cut her out, i could've saved her like i did the other time she OD'd on me, I could've, I should've... on and on.
But it wasn't my fault. Wasn't my fault i couldn't handle my trauma, wasn't my fault she couldn't handle hers, wasn't my fault she'd go too hard, wasn't my fault i had to save myself and get clean. It wasn't my fault. the world was a fucked up place that i couldn't handle and some bad shit happened.
And it's not your fault that people you've never met sent you to a war you never decided to have, to fight against people who never decided to fight you either.
It is NOT your fault that you were put in a position that resulted in death. You didn't set any of those wheels in motion. The world did. Don't blame yourself, blame a world that so fucked up that these are the choices we have to make just to live in it.

I'm not a female soldier, but my husband is in the Marines..him being away is the hardest thing I've had to deal with; he's not in active war currently, thankfully, but I've never been away from him for so long before and he's the main person I have these days..I rely on him so much. We call regularly but it's not the same as being able to physically hold him and stare into his eyes, this song is exactly how I feel everytime he has to go. Him being gone from me is taking a toll on him too, I hope to see him soon.

Agreed! I was a military husband (my wife is now retired) and this video just broke me.
I thought it was gonna be the guy at first since hes built like a tank
I also love how a black man was her boyfriend/husband. I love seeing interracial couples!
This song hits very hard especially for every veteran it’s a war nobody wins but causes more division in this world and my dad is a veteran being a former marine so he knows what wars can cause especially for the Middle East I just pray for everyone that serves for our country and hope everyone comes home safely
Very Beauitful Song and perfect you can hear the guy yelling in the back.
Always a marine
@@OMACMedicFiveZero yea my bad
I’ve been in this amazing relationship. She’s been everything I’ve wanted in someone and more. I fall for her harder and harder every day. She’s out of town at the moment but damn do I miss her . Between the glasses of whiskey and this song I can’t help but get choked up. She’ll be back tomorrow but damn do I cherish her
❤
I loved the song before but bringing light to the fact that we are all HUMANS we all have a FAMILY that we love more than anything is what is needed. We don’t always think about the fact that our “enemies” are just trying to go home to their families too and they don’t always have the worst intentions. I commend you guys again, this was a beautifully sad and realistic video
So true we all Human afterall everyone needs to respect each other
My husband is military and yall have me sitting here crying so hard. Yall are so amazing and are so powerful with your music and your videos. Thank you for all that you do. Me and my husband love your music!
Becca Lang Stay strong, and thank you for your service. People like me are out there praying for you and your family all the time.
Can we just take a moment for those whom we have lost, to the vets who didn't make it, and to the ones who did, thank you so much for your service!
Such hate on the thumbs down but the true power of our love and appreciation for the cost of service.
This brings humanity back into it. It’s easy to say that our side is the only side that counts. At the end of the day WE ARE ALL HUMAN. We need to start loving each other again and stop letting other agendas take away our compassion
Amen! 100% neither side is good or bad. Understand both sides of the story and understand not all choose to. 🙌🏻💯
humanidad no, estados si.
I couldn’t agree more...people are constantly begging for a war and I never understand why. It’s just gonna take away human life and it kills me every time I see someone exited because it just shows how divided people love to be.....
@@FireFoxGaming_
Its due to humans greed and how the governments are fighting a losing war between each other. I have a friend in the army reserves and he said the similar thing. Through human greed anything could happen and it could cost others their lives. The government doesn’t really care about us they are just greedy and would do anything to win or something of the sort.
Well, unfortunately war is always going to happen as long as this world goes on. I'm with those that wish the world could be a much more loving environment and people could just care for each other more, but I just don't see that kinda thing happening ever. It's unrealistic.
I PREVAIL = REAL TALK
There's just something about this song that is so relevant to any person
Ive watched this a million times and cant hold back the tears when she catches him looking at that picture and pulls out her phone, were all human is that so hard to understand ugggghhhh
As I’m serving right now. This shit hit different. This band is and will forever be my favorite Metalcore band!
As a Vet myself, this song hits hard. Stay strong brother. ✊🏼
@@MateriaWolf you too man! Thank you for your service.
Same here man.
I feel so heartbroken for those soldier's family who have been left with nothing but to wait whether or not their love ones will come back. I really wish we could live a peaceful world where no one has to fight and no one has to sacrifice or risk their lives. Salute to all the soldiers out there!!!! We're all proud of you.
I Prevail never fail to amaze me, I'm so inlove with this band. 10/10!!
Humans as a species have a knack for destroying ourselves don't we.
Being Muslim and being a Marine, I’ll tell you this video really hit 😪
Oorah brother man!!
Being a marine and engaged to a Muslim
Hooah to that from an Army brother 🙏 mad respect for what you must go through
Bro this shit made brought me back to the days leading up to deployment, idk if you've been yet but that week before is a roller coaster of emotions.
@@zixxer_bro it really is bro, especially if you were on GRF and knew it was likely for months beforehand
Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear this. Powerful, meaningful and very real. I met some of the greatest people while traveling the world to fight for the USA. I spent 10 years fighting in and out of Afghanistan and although I am out now, I am still fighting. My experiences made me who I am now. I cant take it back.
This song came on the radio as I’m mentally preparing for my boyfriend to ship overseas for a year... I have less than a month with him. I’m so happy I still have so little time. Cherish your loved ones, guys.
Please for the love of god stay faithful, im not assuming. However as a male that is compassionate and a fighter, he is alive for you over there. As you should be for him here.
@@BanndiiT424 wouldn’t dream of breaking that trust. I’m so lucky to have him and I’d never want to hurt him like that. Internet stranger, you have my word.
Powerful video. Not what I was expecting, but great. Anyone else think that looked like Eric at 2:23?
It is I think haha
Oh that’s definitely Eric
Y i also think it is him :o
I’d guess they are all hidden in the video! 0:58 the soldier hyping her on the right with the full sleeve tattoo is Brian
@@arikioteiwi7954 I think they might all be in that scene but it's not the easiest to tell. Think Eric's behind her and steve is the closest person on the left.
"Every enemy you kill was someone else's mother, father, friend, cousin, brother, sister, grandfather or grandmother."
Thats precisely why I don't hesitate, because I'm thinking of my own.
@@themacksimum7540 the point of the song clearly went over your head.
@@jwomackandcheese73 Not all enemies are "that friendly". regardless of the country. This is a video, guy. There are good people and there are bad people as well. but why take the chance. If they are shooting, most likely bad.
Good
@@ltdantayl0r679 I never said "take a chance" I never remotely said anything close to what you said in your comment.
Keep watching the video until you figure it out, I don't have time to educate you.
I like how the mrs has been in the desert for 6 months and the guys still finding her hairs all over the place. I can relate to this! At 1:50 he still has one of her hairs on his shoulder lol
Maaaan. I'm getting ready for work, and this video just stopped me dead in my tracks.. Tears streaming down my face.. Ooof.
Sobbing my heart out, jesus Christ. This hits different
I listen to this song everyday and let me tell you these music videos I prevail have been coming out with has been INTENSE!
Job well done!
This video said " Fuck stereotypes " in the sweetest way possible.
YES right!!
@Lexi 93 You are referring to the fictional white female soldier. What about the 149 real servicewomen that didn't make it? I'm certain that if the screenwriter(s) for this video had deployed the husband, he would have still been the one to return.
@Lexi 93 what u talking about homie
@Lexi 93 Dude it's literally military combat. I don't think either side is looking at the race of each other and being like "Oh they're white so even though they're American and Americans are our enemies, I'll just let em go because they're white." She could have easily been the one that was shot when they were on the move instead of the random dude.
@Lexi 93 That was... more or less the point
I absolutely love how they depicted that the female went to fight for the US and the man stayed home. A lot of people would've made it so that the man went off to war. A lot of women fight for the US and aren't represented enough. I also love how they showed that not everyone who is fighting is doing so willingly - especially from other countries. And the fact of the matter is, they showed the truth; some people get to go home to their families while others do not. That's the sad truth of war. And it's the sad truth of reality. I Prevail is amazing and cannot make a bad song/music video. You cant change my mind.
Thank you for this comment. Women are never recognized for it.
Wow soooo progressive......
I heard this on the radio and went to go send it to my husband in Japan. I was not ready for this video. This shit hits so hard, especially as a long distance military couple. Thank you for also recognizing that it’s not just men wearing the uniform. I couldn’t love this band more
This video really brought me to tears. A lot of people can't think outside the chains of their own minds. It's sad honestly. I am glad they incorporated both sides in their video. It was lovely to have the opportunity to think about others and what they go through, besides ourselves.
You have to remember when we join the military they break you down, and build you back up how they want you to be. You put blinders on to focus on what they tell you to do and how its right. There's alot to think about though in a war situation.
Nobody really wins war. They just try to survive.
This song and video gets me every time.
Helped me shed tears I have been holding back for awhile... You guys made a masterpiece with this one.
Showing both sides of their story is really heart breaking but, thank you for showing the both of them. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve heard this song, you guys are one of mine and my son’s favorite bands, he’s 8 years old and we’re both hoping to be able to see y’all in concert one of these days! ❤️
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT HAS SERVED AND TO ANYONE THAT HAS HAD A PARENT, SPOUSE, BROTHER, SISTER, FRIEND THAT HAS BEEN APART OF THE MILITARY! Ive had family and friends serve, and the hardest thing is waiting for them to come back. I can only imagine what it feels like for them. Thank you for your sacrifices that you make so that people like me are able to live.
Murilo Barcelos Corrêa thanks ig
Flavius Invictus you’re so different from everyone else 😜
@Flavius Invictus Then what are real warriors?
I love this. Everyone has their own story! So often people just believe someone is evil, an enemy, because that's what they're told to believe. But most of the time, they're just people like you, told the exact same thing about you. This was beautiful and tear jerking
Every time you leave I lose a little piece of me. Damn. Right in the feels.
I was privileged enough to have my dad come home safe from Iraq, physically intact but not mentally.. he fights demons I will never see and he saw things I’m lucky to never have witnessed or ever will. I was only a newborn when he left, but was lucky to have him come back when I was 6 months old, and he’s been with me ever since. To all those still serving and retired, I salute you. And to those who’s fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, and whoever else died in combat, I salute you too because you are a soldier as well. Grief is one of the worst things any person can go through, and I salute you for getting up every single day and facing it without your loved ones, you are a warrior and your family is I’m sure watching from the clouds above and so proud ❤️
Mate, I had 3 cousins die over there, and my way of honoring them was following in their footsteps, I enlisted right out of high school. I’ll never get to see them again… a lot of us service members suffer more than we would like to admit… more than we care to admit… and more than we would like to ask help for… we all have our demons, and a lot of us struggle with fighting them…
As a army veteran the lyrics and visuals hit a little different.
It sure does brother
Navy active duty. Lyrics hit a lot different to me
Same here OIF 03. It hits hard remebering how it feels. leaving everything you love to fight
Thank you all for your service
Thank you for your service sir !!!
I've worked offshore since graduating high school 12 years ago. It's absolutely destroyed every relationship I've been in since. I know being away from work for a week every month is a far cry from what some people have to deal with, but it's still so hard. In fact, knowing that people do deal with worse makes it even harder, because at least some of them manage to have a successful relationship. Every day that goes by makes me feel more and more like I'm running out of time, and I can only really blame myself, since I'm the reason I'm still doing what I'm doing instead of pursuing any chances of a different life.
This hit hard. I just enlisted and I know I’m going face some hardships while I’m gone away from family.
2 years ago you made this comment and i hope all is well and you're safe my dude.
You're just one of those bands where you could release a new album every month and I'd still think it wasn't enough. Your music is amazing but your message is even more beautiful. Can't wait for more.
Finally a video of a women Soldier! I've been in the military 12 years and going strong. This literally explains my husband and I relationship. My husband deals with me going off to training for months at a time. He is my rock, my world. Love him with all of my heart but I would do anything for this country. I love my career.
Thank you for your service and sacrifice. 🙏 for you, your family, and all military personnel. God bless you.
Thank you for your service!
I feel this. My wife did her 20 and I am forever proud of her! Stay strong and thank you for your service!
check out wrong side of heaven by 5 finger. They hit it hard too
I totally agree. And not a model pretty one either. I was the one who deployed when my husband and I were in and it was hard.
this really touches the heart of an allmost 50 year old 80ies melodic rocker!!!! there still is hope for good music with heart soul and a message !!!

This song really gets me as i lost my b3st mate 11 years ago serving our country. Since his death apart from meeting my soulmate and having a kid i still feel alone. We grew up together from the age of 3, they say blood is thicker than water l, and to me, jethro you was my brother. I wish you was here and could hold my son my man.
