What makes Cowboy Bebop such a brilliant show, imo, is that the writers did a great job of making Spike feel invincible until he wasn't, and integrating that into the story. Throughout the entire show you don't really fear for his life because he's the protagonist, and he even explains that he doesn't fear for his own life because he's not even sure if he's even alive. But as we reach the finale Spike wants to go and he explains why. Normally we wouldn't worry that he's facing a platoon's worth of mobsters, but because he said he's ok with dying, now we know he can die. And even though he's ok with it, we the audience are not.
There is a Cowboy Bebop film, that is close to 2 hours long.
If you watch it, think of it as taking place around episode 15 or something.
The whole crew is back together, doing what they Did best.
its actually on CZcams for free
i remember hearing it took place between episodes 23 and 24 or something. i have no idea but it's still an even more rewarding watch after the final episode. certainly a pretty good send off the the characters with some of my favorite animation ever
@@barackobreezy I also believe its between 23 and 24.
The movie actually takes place. I believe two episodes before the end of the series. Itâs either two or three episodes before the end of the series. I canât remember which but it is supposed to take place right at the end of the timeline thereâs actually an official position of it if you look it up online.
I love the "bang" callback to the immortal kid who in the end was happy that he was finally free to die.
Couple of small bits of trivia for you: in this one, Spike tells the story of the cat to Jet and the story of his eye to Faye. In 1x20 (your reaction @11:55) a catâs eye flashes as Spike hurls the dagger. Dunno how much it means, but itâs i assume itâs a thing of some sort.
But my favorite bit of trivia, possibly from the whole series, is this: Steve Blum, the English voice actor for Spike, has a tattoo on his forearm of the audio waveform for Spikeâs final line in this episode.
You're gonna carry that weight. đ
at the very end: "Life is just a dream ya know - it's neverending. I'm...ascending." And then it says "You're Gonna Carry That Weight" as the sign off
Thank y'all so much for the time and effort put into doing a Cowboy Bebop reaction series!
Whereâs the âYouâre gonna carry that weightâ!?!?!?
i know....so many people don't savor the credits or expect anything from the end
@@no1guy825 youd think ppl told em but then again they did do 25 and 26 seperately.
What makes the series so great is all three main characters go through a similar character arc...each is haunted by their past (or in Faye's case, lack of one), each is confronted by or has to decide to let go a former love, each has to come to grips with their nemesis from the past, and each has to make a decision regarding their future going forward. Along the way they all explore the same kind of philosophical questions, with each taking a different perspective on how to love and what code to live by.
Canon lyrics written in Juliaâs POV
Don't care for me, don't cry
Let's say goodbye, Adieu.
It's time to say goodbye,
I know that in time
It will just fade away
Canon lyrics written in Spikeâs POV that play in the final act
Love never dies
Love never fails
Love never, ever fades away
He doesn't ever let go.
Round of applause for the wonderful music in this series. It made us much more well rounded people.
I think you guys will also enjoy another classic, Trigun. The original from 1998.
Thanks for the suggestion đđž
Hope you guys are able to do the movie! Either way, it was great to revisit this show with you two, it's one of my all time favorites. Thanks for the reactions!!
Bang đ
Edit: please tell me yâall are gonna watch the movie! I think it takes place before or right after the brain scratch episode I canât remember

Now you guys should watch Samurai Champloo. Same creator.
It's definitely on the list đđž
11:44 Shruti was not having that Biggie joke đ on to Samurai Champloo now!
Great reactions! Similar to mine when I first viewed the series back in 2000 (Adult Swim). Just FYI: "Cowboy Bebop, the Movie" (2001) takes place between episodes 22 and 23.
Still carrying that weight. Thanks again for giving this show its due. The End credits, with Blue playing in the background, are Spike's POV after he died.
"Everything is clearer now
Life is just a dream, you know
That's never-ending
I'm ascending"
missed a big bit at the end. it happens :(
Vicious finally begins his coup, positioning himself to assume leadership of the Red Dragon Syndicate. Gunshots ring like the sound of a choir of angels, a premonition of damnation. Knowing that the Red Dragon's civil war has begun, Julia breaks her long silence and tries to contact Spike, who drops everything to find her, the only woman who could complete this hollow man. At the fulcrum of a fragile balance, Spike is possessed by the spirits of his past. Jet and Faye can do nothing but watch over him.
-Cowboy Bebop Guide, Book 6, Page 28
After a long time apart, Spike and Julia reunite. But their happiness is short-lived at best. That which Spike has longed for slips through his fingers as easily as it came into his embrace. This is one man's fate, converging unto death as it were a predestined circumstance of his young life. Having lost his future, Spike is left only with his past. He confronts Vicious in a battle that should have taken place long ago. What does that right eye, left in a wounded body, see at the very end?
-Cowboy Bebop Guide, Book 6, Page 44
The right eye which sees Spikeâs present sees Julia as his present at the end, as was foreshadowed to happen in Jupiter Jazz Part 2.
what a great reaction channel you guys have
Thank you guysđ. Please watch the movie

Watch cowboy bebop the movie (2001) and Samurai champloo
You guys really shouldnât be talking over blue itâs kind of the endcap to the series and itâs filled with emotion and you ignoring it. Itâs kind of disrespectful.
