    When I had just started learning how to paint and draw and was expressing my fear of what if I do it wrong, my teacher used to say: " You will. So what? It's just a paper., you will do it again." It's just a paper and it stuck with me for years. But sometimes, if I do not want to spoil an image I want to do something out of, I will make a copy of it, and do it with the copy, and then go with the original. That also takes the edge off. I'm watching your playlist; your videos help a lot; thank you so much.

      Great idea! I also like taking pictures of my (unglued) collage with my phone and then looking at it that way before deciding if I want to add something else.

    Thank you, collage is something I’ve been wanting to explore for some time now. I checked out an embarrassing number of books from the library and I then became overwhelmed with an overload of info. The advice and tips in your videos demonstrate that it is not complicated and to keep it fun!

    I am happy to see that you don't ink and tear all your pieces, I have just done my first ever collage. I like it, it isn't any thing that I would try to sell,it is especially for me, I did show my daughter because she spotted it and asked about it so I told her to pick it up and look at it. She said she really liked it, I feel real good inside when she is happy about something that I have created, she is a teacher of high end math for 7th and8th grade students. Anyway thank you so much for sharing. When I finish I would love to send you a few of the.pages.

    I love these videos. Thank you so very much for putting these together. I have a love/hate relationship with scraps of paper. I will collect and collect, then get overwhelmed and purge. Or, I find something I like, then I save too much of it and don't use it because it becomes precious. Glue books are so relaxing...I find that I do a combination of paper scraps, painting, stamping and inking. Your guidance on no-pressure is great - make things just for yourself (that's how it should be with most everything because it turns out better that way). I like your gardening three-ring binder for a quarter! I rescued a Pantone color chip book from the junk pile at work a few years ago and am inspired to get that out and starting gluing!

    • @MargareteMiller
      @MargareteMiller  Před 7 lety

      Hi Dawn, You know, I find it to be a really slippery slope with the saving of paper scraps. It's so easy to get overwhelmed. Even when I restrict myself I get caught up in saving and then end up with too much. But I LOVE your idea to use that Pantone color chip book. That would be awesome!! When you start it you have to post some pictures. I'd love to see it :-)

It's A bit daunting sometimes to fill up this size page. I think I would enjoy a smaller size for sure. And using postage stamps, index cards and playing cards are also appealing to me. • @andreajohnsMyPotteryBliss

    My understanding of collage has been that the images included combine to make a meaningful statement. In other words I thought “meaning” was a prerequisite to creating. Consequently, being unable to conjure up an idea with sufficient gravitas, I have avoided collage art. It’s funny that I have let that narrow definition prevent me from making, what is to me, beautiful imagery. I see, after watching your channel, that the only rule to collage is that you put together images you like in a manner that’s pleasing to your eye. Thank you for helping me to discover a wider understanding.

    My problem is after I make this, what do I do with it. Sure, it's great in the process but after I finish this and go on tothe next one and then teh next one...soon I will run out of room. My minimalize card has been removed since I started paper crafting. I love doing it , but what hangs in my mind is where I am going to put it. I started to make what I call "Jokes, Quotes and Other Notes" using junk journal/glue book techniques. In these I glue cartoons and jokes I cut out of books and magazines. I give them away to people who are having a hard time (using physically or emotional). I like doing those and will continue but I'm really looking for something else. I feel stuck. I have a ton of scraps and embellishments and all that but no idea what project to do that will use them. Sorry...I'm going on so much. Thanks for your videos.

      It’s like that with all art, isn’t it? What to do with the painted canvas. What to do with the coloring book page. With collage you can keep it, give it, mail it, exchange it, etc. I never run out of ideas of what to do with it.
