Yep, that’s the thing though. Yusei was designed to be a very inspirational character, and they succeeded with that. Simply watching as he goes along fills you with hope. He knows he has limitations, but tries and find creative ways around his limitations. Where the other protagonists generally focuses around a smaller point, Yusei always thinks larger. It isn’t about him, it’s always about someone else, the smaller ones that does not get heard. He doesn’t aim to be the best duelist, but the best possible person he can be, and passing that off as lessons to others. He’s a very driven and hopeful character. Hence why his summoning always is inspirational, it is because it’s a reflection of himself. 5D’s did excellently to dive into truly heart clenching moments, the more realistic aspect of things. The duels definitely felt second nature, and the character and story felt first.
Not only effects but also the bonds between low levels/ATK monsters, to synchro summon more powerful ones. And much like Yugi, the fact that Yusei never sees a card as worthless or useless, because every card counts in his deck.

My favourite part of yusei’s deck is that you can see why people may have thrown the card away because they believe it to be useless and then to see yusei match all opponents with that in mind is just awesome

Yusei almost always finds a way to use the same cards creatively. Upgrading his deck along the way, but generally the same thing. It is refreshing to see just how many different ways one can win a duel with the same deck, or similar deck that is. There really was only a few cards added just like that, but well, Yu-gi-oh has been clear from the start, that those cards are not ordinary ones. That they do possess a will of their own. Also, it is a Fantasy, gotta expect these things to happen lol

Of course that means he has much more strategic Options. I would love to see a Movie or OVA with the old Protagonists with the new Mechanics

Literally been listening to this song as well as the soundtrack since it first got posted back in 2010, but never actually bothered in commenting, but this soundtrack literally made my childhood and carried it. Whenever I had something important or a task coming up, or a challenge, like Cross Country for example I would play this, and whenever I did, I would always win a medal in a sporting event. I remember even late at night before I went to bed when this first came out, I would sneak on my phone, sneak my headphones and listen to this before I went to bed. This was literally my motivation, I would even dream about a bunch of stuff with this theme, as well as plan out things with this theme. Such an underrated soundtrack, top tier, and a soundtrack that literally made my childhood and carried it. Truly legendary, and truly underrated. Like I always get childhood nostalgia whenever I hear this soundtrack. Even now as I'm writing this, I'm remembering a bunch of childhood memories with the amount of times I've listened to this soundtrack during my childhood. So unforgettable, and so iconic. Honesty means a lot to me as well. Like they just don't make these soundtracks anymore. That's how good it is and how legendary it is. I would even listen to the piano version of this theme as well, and every version of it as well. I even have this liked from the day it first came out as well and on my playlist. Like holy.
I don't know how, but I'm sure if Yusei would duel Atem he would find a way to beat all three god cards on the field at the same time while this plays in the background, he is that badass for me, well Atem is too, but Yusei is just different...

Yusei was literally the GOAT of all yugioh protagonists. All the rest were bumbling kids who didn't know what the fuck they were doing and Yusei was some genius super scientist motorcycle racing Batman engineer who was actually good at the game.
now as much as i love Yusei, you gotta admit he's a bit too perfect. I mean the other yugioh protagonists are kinda only good at duels. But Yusei? He's like a fucking engineer programmer physician scientist duelist who can build a fricking motorcycle from scrape. Yusei is like the batman of the yugioh protagonists.
RaidOfStorms Well Grandpa didn't really die. Like Solomon was kind of there... and was still there in GX. Only time he died was Bonds Beyond Time which was completely in-universe retconned due to time traveling. Yusei's kind of takes the cake for depressing, like yeah Yugi had to go save the world multiple times, but things worked out during his youth. Yusei... not so much.
+Bukacake Well, to be fair, Yusei had a reason to be that way from the beginning of the show. Just the fact that he grew up in satellite justifies lots of his proficiencies imo. Another thing: 5Ds had a different focus than the shows that came before. The protagonist needed to be proficient at more things so they could show more things apart from duels. Action scenes and character development and whatnot. Yugi and Judai, on the other hand, didn't need to do a lot other than play card games, since that was the focus of the original and GX. The real mistake the creators made was giving all those proficiencies to Yusei. The smarter thing to do would've been to split up the proficiencies among different characters. On the other hand, most people like Yusei, so whatever.
Fact: this is the only Yu-Gi-Oh series that makes yusei overshine so much as a protagonist, and the fact that this series' backstory was very immersive and epic fadens away any doubts of 5D's being the best Yu-Gi-Oh series ever made, at least for me ❤

I don't like 5ds' execution post-Dark Signer Arc, but I have to give them credit. By far, Yusei was the best protagonist. He had, design wise: - A well balanced and themed deck that reflected his personality (Judai/Yuma-ish) - Style (Yugi/Atem) - Stereotype personality yet meaningful moments (Yuma) And of course: not one, not two, not three but FUCKING FOUR THEME SONGS, in which one of them HAD LYRICS! HOW COOL IS THAT!

@@Iamthegreatestofalltime Blame the western culture for the dub. Everyone jumps on 4kids, but the anime is just fancy advertisement for a card game. Card games are typically associated with being an activity for children, especially ones with colorful monsters. So of course they gotta make the advertisement friendly for the target consumer. One way to do that is honestly lame catch phrases. I have nostalgia for things like Pokemon's "Gotta catch 'em all" and "Get your game on" from GX, but they just became annoying with each new dub as I got older and was especially upsetting when I found out about summoning chants for just about every extra deck monster and not just a couple cards in the entire show. At least the writers for Duel Links tried to make a decent compromise when it came to summoning chants. Not perfect, but it's pretty cool to hear them, especially for the manga cards.

Dude, 4Kids do generally do some good music. Of course, 5D's raised the bar much higher than before, but there are one or two themes. For example, the English Dub Yusei Synchro ditty, I always happened to like that. Just because it was done by 4Kids doesn't mean it's awful.

I heard this music in my head when i was playing against a mermaid deck and my opponent summoned calamities and a bunch of monsters in his first turn And i started with a garbage hand Then in my draw phase I draw psy-gearframe gamma, negated his calamities and somehow manged to whip out his board I was like I made the impossible possible! I almost shed a tear everytime i remember that duel because it was a tie already and i would have been out of the tournament if i lost
I was playing this song while on the Duel Network. Somehow, I pulled the right cards at the perfect time when this song started and won just when it ended. I'm not kidding. o_o

Yusei made me a believer when Yusei defeats Harold and all of the Norse Gods. He left the Whole Norse team in tears, in the most believable turnabout in YuGiOh.
I can't play this video on my computer but it works on my phone. I have been having this issue for years and I still cannot find a solution. now as much as i love Yusei, you gotta admit he's a bit too perfect. I mean the other yugioh protagonists are kinda only good at duels. But Yusei? He's like a fucking engineer programmer physician scientist duelist who can build a fricking motorcycle from scrape. Yusei is like the batman of the yugioh protagonists.

RaidOfStorms Well Grandpa didn't really die. Like Solomon was kind of there... and was still there in GX. Only time he died was Bonds Beyond Time which was completely in-universe retconned due to time traveling. Yusei's kind of takes the cake for depressing, like yeah Yugi had to go save the world multiple times, but things worked out during his youth. Yusei... not so much.

Well, to be fair, Yusei had a reason to be that way from the beginning of the show. Just the fact that he grew up in satellite justifies lots of his proficiencies imo.
Another thing: 5Ds had a different focus than the shows that came before. The protagonist needed to be proficient at more things so they could show more things apart from duels. Action scenes and character development and whatnot. Yugi and Judai, on the other hand, didn't need to do a lot other than play card games, since that was the focus of the original and GX.
The real mistake the creators made was giving all those proficiencies to Yusei. The smarter thing to do would've been to split up the proficiencies among different characters.
On the other hand, most people like Yusei, so whatever.
Fact: this is the only Yu-Gi-Oh series that makes yusei overshine so much as a protagonist, and the fact that this series' backstory was very immersive and epic fadens away any doubts of 5D's being the best Yu-Gi-Oh series ever made, at least for me ❤

I don't like 5ds' execution post-Dark Signer Arc, but I have to give them credit. By far, Yusei was the best protagonist. He had, design wise:
- A well balanced and themed deck that reflected his personality (Judai/Yuma-ish)
- Style (Yugi/Atem)
- Stereotype personality yet meaningful moments (Yuma)
And of course: not one, not two, not three but FUCKING FOUR THEME SONGS, in which one of them HAD LYRICS! HOW COOL IS THAT!

Literally been listening to this song, since it got posted out back in 2010, but never bothered to write a comment, but this song was literally top tier, literally carried my childhood. Extremely underrated, and legendary.
I personally loved 5Ds for the music. It was inspirational and made you have hope in yourself. Even now, with me over Yugioh in every way, I still find myself coming back to 5D's soundtrack.

@@Iamthegreatestofalltime Blame the western culture for the dub. Everyone jumps on 4kids, but the anime is just fancy advertisement for a card game. Card games are typically associated with being an activity for children, especially ones with colorful monsters. So of course they gotta make the advertisement friendly for the target consumer. One way to do that is honestly lame catch phrases. I have nostalgia for things like Pokemon's "Gotta catch 'em all" and "Get your game on" from GX, but they just became annoying with each new dub as I got older and was especially upsetting when I found out about summoning chants for just about every extra deck monster and not just a couple cards in the entire show.
At least the writers for Duel Links tried to make a decent compromise when it came to summoning chants. Not perfect, but it's pretty cool to hear them, especially for the manga cards.

I heard this music in my head when i was playing against a mermaid deck and my opponent summoned calamities and a bunch of monsters in his first turn
And i started with a garbage hand
Then in my draw phase
I draw psy-gearframe gamma, negated his calamities and somehow manged to whip out his board
I was like
I made the impossible possible!
I almost shed a tear everytime i remember that duel because it was a tie already and i would have been out of the tournament if i lost
I was playing this song while on the Duel Network.
Somehow, I pulled the right cards at the perfect time when this song started and won just when it ended.
