    I am intending on rebuilding my father GSV190 engine which is probably the same as the engine on the video because it smokes up a fair bit when the engine is cold on startup which is due to bad piston rings in that engine, it's also coming into spring time here in Australia & the grass really gets away on us if we have some rain in the warmer months..
    Three's no remachining in those engines despite my dads having a steel bore liner,it's just simply replace the cylinder which also has the cylinder head cast onto it as well.

      sure, take off the car cap, look for the the 4 tiny holes on the bottom edge and clean them with compressed air. If these get dirt in them, they will prevent air from getting into the tank and allowing fuel to leave it.

    Isn't the extreme shaking from an unbalanced blade? If not an unbalanced blade then a slightly bent shaft. If you gave your customer this repaired mower and he went and hit a root that'll bend the shaft. And you couldn't remove the 2nd bearing from the shaft so the bent shaft might be keeping it from coming off.

    • @HomeGaragechannel
      @HomeGaragechannel  Před 3 měsíci

      the shaking you're seeing is due to lack of oil, and years of running it that way. The upper support for the crankshaft was too much play in it allow the rotating assembly to be off balance.

      @@HomeGaragechannel I think you misdiagnosed this one guy. I saw the shaking that isn't from a lack of oil. Your customer hit something with his mower and either the blade got skewed and off balance or he bent his shaft. And I didn't see you check for either one.

      Did you know the State of Tx has initiated a "EV" tax ? It seems that with all the EV's on the road, that it is affecting the gas tax the state collects. Their solution; $400. initial purchase tax, followed by $200 yearly tax on EV. It won't be long till they do the same for electric mowers.

Just like the 85 Snapper is for the Stihl battery job and the Craftsman opposed is for the Craftsman battery job. Got to be prepared. well for me i,d wait until the engine meets it,s maker and by the sounds of the rattling that probably tells me and it does look like it might be overreving but that,s a very easy fix thought just by lowing the engine speed as it looks like the person before them may have tried increasing the speed to make it run faster and harder but yeah i could be wrong on that one.

    Could a dull blade cause a mower to stop? It will stop after about 5 minutes of cutting. I was going to run it to empty before checking the carburetor. It's been running for 15 minutes. If the blade is dull, and I'm cutting high grass, could that be the problem?

    • @HomeGaragechannel
      @HomeGaragechannel  Před 4 měsíci

      so it depends. Yes, if you're cutting more then 2 or 3 inches of grass on a single pass, and the blade is dull, it will stop your engine. The other would be if it's stopping after a certain amount of time, with it just sitting there running. If it's the second case then you have a fuel system problem.

    I have had this exact mower for the past 15 years, runs great with regular maintenance. Replaced the carburetor with an oem one about 5 years ago. The only problem is that my plug gets a bunch of carbon deposit after every mowing session, so i need to pull it and clean it with a brush every time. Any suggestions on how to adjust the carburetor.

    • @HomeGaragechannel
      @HomeGaragechannel  Před rokem

      why do want to adjust the carb? Is it because of the carbon? There are 2 ways for the carbon to show up on the plug, first would be an air filter that might be blocking too much air from getting to the engine, and the other would be that the piston rings are worn and allowing just a bit more oil to burn in the combustion chamber.

    • @marcoperez4712
