It’s a Thursday morning in a hijacked building in Johannesburg’s inner city. A fire breaks out on the first floor and soon sets the dilapidated building ablaze. Trapped inside, dozens of people - men, women, and children - are unable to escape the flames. In the street below, onlookers frantically call for help as people attempt to save themselves by jumping from upper-storey windows. Hours later, as rescue workers pull the dead from the debris, the scale of the disaster becomes clear. Blame is soon shifted to NGOs working in the inner city by officials denying any culpability in the tragedy. But few could argue the victims would not have suffered such excruciating deaths had the warning of at least the past two decades been heeded. The same NGOs as well as the media and several politicians had been warning of the dangers posed by Jo’burg’s hijacked buildings. Yet the problem grew unchecked and now 77 people are dead.

My father was on Carte Blanche in early 90's and he literally said this will become major issues. It was the episode about ANC stealing from the RDP housing funds and screwing over the private businesses (like my father's at the time) who were set to build RDP housing for the people.
He was silenced for speaking out against the ANC (and for appearing on Carte Blanche, anonymously) it completely ruined his livelihood. He was blacklisted by the banks under ANC orders, which made it difficult for him to continue his business... he went under because he had to pay his workers out of his own pocket waiting for the ANC's funds as was promised at the, but that was the early days before people like all South Africans now know how corrupt the ANC would become and the funds were shared with cronies and not the people. These unbelievable stresses eventually got to my dad, which killed him. RIP dad 😢and F the ANC

Eff fought helping these people who didn't want community that helped brothers of these young children. Eff is to be blamed for every mess SA is facing, iyhooo that one is areally Domkop, and he has children who one day might be affected by his poor behavioranddecisions. And our ANC government guilty for being so lenient with these criminals, and too soft to the point that SA is not respected by anyone who comes and never goes away without fearing consequences . Ramaphosa has a mistake of trusting that people coming here are here because of something they are running away from, and don't even want to be documented, fearing they'll be traced. Ramaphosa and his government has totally failed to govern the country, because he's yes sir , yes sir , yes sir, but never no sir and put the foot down and "say , fokof and voetsek all of you, go home ".
I have work to do to this home and that work is not you.
All governments do that daily for the purpose of protecting their nation and country. Ramaphosa is clueless when it comes to protecting the country nation as priority. Firstly, you have to arrest and prosecute the criminal element!!!! One can always set up tents and temporary structures, while a building undergoes reconstruction, and built up to code, then systematically allow previous tenants to lease/rent from the buildings (newly set up) body corporate, that assists whichever municipality that district falls under. That would b a start. But who am I to tell government how to tacle existing housing crisis.
