    You know I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game double back on its art style like this. It’s actually quite. Refreshing. To see aesthetics being taken so seriously. Especially after the comically cartoony look the game had before

    Thanks for taking the time to build all of these comparisons.
    I like what they did with unit lighting and explosion effects. I'm sure it is less realistic the way it makes vehicles appear to be drawn in black borders and then filled in with color (if that makes sense) than the style at launch where the vehicle details and lines were harder to distinguish but truer to life. And who doesn't like nice Hollywood explosion effects even if they aren't true to life either.

    Fantastic coverage as always.
    I feel like this should have been Coh3 1.0. Game was so half baked on release and it caused serious damage to the franchize. Heck, I'm finally ready to purchase the game, I'm glad they followed through

      Think I might pick the game up now too. Never have I tracked a game for so long post release before deciding to buy. Just couldn't put myself through the obvious teething pains

    This update is pretty good there is a lot of good changes. Let's hope they will give some love to the placeholder icons from CoH2 as well.

    It would be one thing if I had seen Relic say it would impact performance, but I cannot fathom why the Tacmap isn't larger after all of these years.

    thanks for your video!there is one more important bug is for the soldiers who are holding automatic weapons(bars and mg 42 light machine guns)there is no aim and shoot steps, all I can see is that they fire to some random directions while they are moving. Also the guns are also firing while the soldiers get cross the fence . The maps looks so beautiful and it doesn’t looks like a battlefield.

    Weapons show up on the unit card now and can be hovered over to see what it is.
    Speaking of, some weapons got a new silhouette like the M1918 Johnson LMG and the Panzerusche AT rifle.

    I wish they added the following:
    When you have 2 or more units selected, and in the bottom right corner, there will be the unit cards in one group. When you double click on the card, the camera doesn't budge. Only if you double click on the unit profile avatar or on the card in the top corner (or bottom, depends where you have it in options), will the camera teleport to the unit.
    So basically. You double click on a unit card inside the selected group of units, the camera centers on that unit. A huge QoL problem.

    Thanks for your Input beforehand and for the great comprehension! Still a lot of work to do for CoH3, especially and overhaul of the sound effects which need to sound massive and brutal - also the unit speech (german factions) need to be reworked… but i think they are on a good way- looking forward to play it again 👍

    All of this should have been done for launch originally. COH2 has nearly all of these already. I'll possibly buy COH3 in March, assuming they continue working on bringing it up to standard until then.

    Liking that new announcement filter effect. The tanks muzzle flashes are a nice addition. Agreed on the lighting duration; seems too long. Did we lose some particles effect on the tank flash? At the same time, I wasn't too much of a fan on how low-res/pixelated the flash looked anyway.

      The spark looking effects that are part of a lot of explosions do look low-res I agree

    Thanks so much for making this! It does seem like there are some solid small improvements. As a huge fan of the Back to Basics mod for CoH1 (that's all I play pretty much now), my fingers are crossed that someone will be able to mod the general color scheme of CoH3, it's just still too pastel in nature to my eyes (I don't associate salmon pink and baby blue with war). Was hoping this would be the mod that did that but it doesn't look like they touched the colors much.

    Did you see any improvement to the delay when ordering units to do an action ? Like ordering an infantry unit to the right and then tellin them to go left a short while later. Great video :)

    Tac map changes are great and the visual improvements amazing. If just the new sim city arty fest commanders werent here.
    Also, one thing that annoys me about the new tac map, the numbers for unit hotkeys don't show up. So I get confused if I already did bind that to 1,2,3 or if I forgot. Would be nice to get some sort of customization for this.

    I was watching some CoH3 cast and noticed they ruined the explosion effects... what happened to the cool blast wave effect that was a selling point in one of the gameplay trailers if I remeber correctly...?

    Speaking about the returning to menus: who's idea was to make the top main menu button "continue the last campaign mission" on the same height, where multiplayer used to be in the old menu? Returning to main menu after each match it is a matter of time when you missclick the "continue" button, and it just sends you loading the mission without any questions. Then you have to watch the unskippable mission cut scene too. Even Alt+F4 is not working during the intro. You have to watch it all and only then can call the menu to exit back. Owch.

    I liked the smoke from the barrel, why get rid of that? It was a very cool visual albeit a bit heavy. Why get rid of it altogether? :(

    Great video as Always, didnt press the button yet to buy coh3 since so many bad reviews and everyone says that coh2 its still better..
    I have all dlcs for coh2 and you think its a good guy coh3 or should I wait for more fixes ?

    I couldn't agree more in terms of sound. It is definately my main concern right now. As you alluded to the volume of specific sound effects is simply too low and some sound effects are also just really bland (M1 garand..). On top of that the music has zero variety in matches. Its just one repetitive track that plays during calm sitations and one track that plays during engagements.
    I really hope Relic address, but I'm a little worried that they haven't acknowledged it at all so far.

    The suppression flashing is going to be very distracting and if people are photosensitive probably not terribly good either. I liked your bucket filling system but had no problem with the old suppression icons.

      Having the unit card fill as it gets suppressed would be amazing. I think the flashing would be harder to distinguish, especially with multiple units affected.

    The US soldier in the updated main menu has the same unit patch as me. (34th ID) I'm a huge fan of the Company of Heroes series, and playing it helps me in my military career in a way.

    Why did they removed the smoke from the muzzle flash of tanks etc.? I don't understand it. It was so immersive and now it is like nothing is there. Feels off to me.

    All good in all. But did they add basic functions like AI difficulty in auto match vs AI, or filters? And also unit stances would be neat.
    But its improvement. Maybe ill reinstall it in about a year or so.

    I'll wait another 6 months, i dont want to sink my teeth in to be burnt out by unpolished and frustrating things in the game. Its heading in the right direction, but still a long way to go.

    Look at the P IV shooting. What is that ? Same with the Wespe arty rounds. They look like bad mortar explosions. Compare it to CoH 1 explosions, and you will scratch your head and ask : Why ?

    I hope they still work on the graphics and audio going forward, but most of what they did is good. One change I dislike is the mortar though; the new explosion looks cheap.

    I love direction COH3 is going now. Love the new visual changes. There's more contrast and the colors do pop out now and it's amazing! Can't wait for the game to be fully fleshed out though. I really hope this game to succeed. This franchise has too much potential to fail. It has too much depth to be taken for granted.

    This seems so amazing too bad I got to wait until Spring of 2024 because I'm a console player 😭 but I'm still excited for the update it'll definitely be worth the wait

    The huge thing that I actually wanted was just something simple. I wanted dropped weapons to be labeled as was standard in COH2. I can't for the life of me understand how this was not there on day 1 or the first patch. I'm still waiting for the mini map flags to be added back in. You know those confirmations you used to get when you selected rally here for each of your production buildings. I don't understand why this was removed. Was there a large mob dead set against this being in COH3????

    In my opinion the background background art should be tied to the last faction you selected, not just played, like how it was it CoH 1. If i recall correctly the loadingscreen art when booting up the game was also tied to the last faction/campaign you selected.

    Me who loves playing COOP vs AI needs three level of AI's to fight against. The current static level is easy to overcome after some practice, so right now I'd love if I could search for games with harder AI

    amazing video. Tightrope never fails to deliver. also im glad theyre working hard on making coh3 playable. it was a horrible game at release especially the UI/UX, Sound and visuals. great to see theyre working on all these things. Will jump back into COH3 this weekend and test the new game out.

    Having only played the Tech Tests early on and choosing to not purchase the game, I decided to purchase yesterday and play. I gotta say, I had a fucking blast. The game isn't perfect. The new doctrines are strong to say the least, but I had a good time and that's what I want from CoH3 - a fun game.
    Is the game perfect? Absolutely not. Does it provide many hours of RTS fun? I believe so. Compared to CoH2, I thoroughly enjoy the difference in how the game is played. For example, a single house doesn't control a fuel point. Cut off plays and resource point control is much more versatile.
    Call downs felt far better than when I last played with them. So much feels improved and it gave me some hope tbh. CoH3 might have a future.
    If you've been hesitant to buy or return, I say give it a shot. It was fun :)

    Im glad they are finally working on the UI in a meaningful way.
    Although, I think its rather questionable with the amount of new buffs/debuffs added by the new BG's, that there is no single possibility to check the effects of each buff while ingame, unless you are the one triggering said buffs/debuffs.
    This means you have to either own the new BG's, test them and learn by heart every single effect or you have to go externally to read upabout them.
    This is still very unacceptable for an RTS which supports its Multiplayer imo. I hope slap a lot more UI changes to the game in the next patch.
    My wish would be a Glossary of all things concerning in-game: Units, Buildings, effects etc.

    For me, they should’ve add more faction (Italy should have their own faction, and don’t forget to add Japanese faction and their Asia campaign) Fixed some bugs, remake sound effects, remake voice acting (i mean, VA in coh2 is just iconic af)
    It’s too bad to they won’t see my opinion

    Adding more Hollywood fireballs to explosions kinda sucks tbh. I liked it more when there was just dust and smoke instead, like ya know, because this is not a Michael Bay movie.
    One thing they could improve with tac map is icon stacking. If icons are close enough to overlap each other - just stack them. And perhaps group them too, from left to right your units and then enemy units. And maybe an option to have the current overlap system instead, for those who wouldn’t like the icon stacking

      At first I liked the more realistic approach but in watching hectic replays my eyes would find it hard to see the explosions, vs the way it was in Coh1/2. I guess I'm getting too old. :)

    Good UI changes, terrible homepage artwork image still, and the rendering changes….didn’t notice in the game. Your own recommendations are excellent. I play and thoroughly enjoy COH3, but it feels like it’s succeeding despite it’s best efforts not to. I think the art director on the project, or the quality of the some of the artists used, just isn’t up to the standard of previous Relic games. At its core though, it’s still great fun.

    The fact that the menu bg has been changed ***now*** is hillarious to me as on of the original names on the og BG is not spelled correctly.
    Quite the miss for a big title.

    they should bring back the victory strikes. Just fading to victory screen is boring.
