  • Kluane National Park is one of the largest National Parks in Canada. If you are driving the Alaska Highway, you are almost certainly going to pass through Kluane and it is well worth a stop!
The best day hike to do in Kluane is Sheep Creek!

Regarding bears: and you have a dog! That’s probably a big deterrent as well. Stunning landscape. These videos make me want to visit Canada soon.

I was trying to do a bit of research ahead of time about whether dogs made bear encounters more or less dangerous but what I found was inconclusive :( You live out in MA right? A trip across the border for you probably isn't too far!

@@ElsbethWeeks pretty close - Rhode Island. Yeah not too far to Canada. There are some lovely mountains past Quebec.

@@RhodySeth If you want to experience epic Canadian mountain trails, glacial lakes, etc. go to the Icefields Parkway in Alberta or Mt Assiniboine/ Mt Robson in BC. Blows Kluane away. The best way to experience Kluane is through a "flightseeing" trip over the Kaskawulsh glacier and St Elias mountains which I'm planning on doing this summer. As far as Eastern Canada is concerned check out the Torngat mountains(Labrador), but you have polar bears to contend with and they're more dangerous than grizzly bears. @Elsbeth bear encounters are rare but the only thing that will stop a determined bear is a 454 casull; or 45-70. Bear spray or dogs will merely delay the duration of the encounter.

@@alphacentauri8083 we're heading to Glacier National Park in August and plan to cross into Canada for a couple days. Not going deep into the mountains or anything but looking forward to it!

@@RhodySeth Awesome! Have fun. Remember that glacier requires reservations for 2023 - it's probably the most scenic park in the contiguous 48 states!

How do dogs do with grizzly bears? Does Yeager know how to use the mace?

Better safe than sorry, bear spray is always important is bear country.
