The ONE regret everyone has at the end of their lives

- I had heard this many times before. The one thing that becomes precious at the end of life .... is time.
And to waste it for something so meaningless, its hard to put into words, but then this masterpiece of movie magic so eloquently delivered those lines.
"What me worry?" Alfred E Neuman
Enjoy these short clips on this very subject matter.
Tom Hanks: Why aren't you worried
Mark Rylance: Does it help. - Zábava

The story of human society there.
Sometimes the “boss” is a fool you have to smile to and nod to. If we didn’t, would it help? I think not.
But there is a higher power that all answer to

here comes the new boos...... same as the old boss......
There is a difference between planning contingencies and merely worrying.
This comment is so true. If you can't do anything about your current problem, move on. Solve one you can.
The older I get, the more I've come to realise the validity of this: "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
I only worry about things that are within my control. Anything outside my control I just take as it comes. Most people I know seem to be the opposite.
Works well when rock climbing. Don't worry about how high you are or how far you would fall, worry about your holds and your protection.
You are right about the latter and in denial on the former.
I don’t think you’re using “in denial” in the right way. I can’t think what I could be in denial about.
@@8964TS ‘I only worry about things that are in my control’.
Denial: “refusing to admit the truth”.
Easier said than done.
The best advice I ever heard regarding worrying is that “worrying is like praying for what you don’t want… And I resolved to not be a worrier… because I’ll be damned if I’ll pray for what I do NOT want!!!!
Not bad. But we all have the power to make changes and "not worrying" is one of the excuses I hear from too many who are lazy enough to do nothing while evil prevails.
Or more simply "worrying is like praying".
One should pray and include God in your life.
@@suzannesanchez4864 Which one? There are so many of them.
I adopted the Mad Magazine 'What, me worry?' philosophy when I was about twelve. It drove my mother crazy.

Nah, the biggest regret people have in life is always, always, always that they didn't spend enough time with loved ones
What if you have no loved ones?
@@orangewarm1love first, the loved ones will make themselves known
Bull shit........all this hippie gay bullshit of loved ask yourself if those who love you regret not spending enough time with you.FUCKIN Americans you make me sick.
@@orangewarm1 Another regret: not meeting enough people to be able to find loved ones/not being loving enough in general
Unicorns and love have never been found in my life.
One might argue that at the end of one’s life, there isn’t anything left to worry about. One looks back over a road already travelled. From that perspective, I’m sure many worries seem futile, because the outcome worried about is now known. One didn’t know that at the time, of course. Which is the point. Everyone gets a first class degree from the university of hindsight.
Possibly towards the end, the worries about which road to take, get replaced by regrets for the road not travelled - neither are particularly useful.
I keep telling my wife (a born worrier) that worrying is thinking about something you can’t do anything about, because if you could do something about it you would and then you wouldn’t be worried anymore. I’m 62 and when I think back through some of the things I have worried about in the past I realise I’m still here so those things couldn’t have been that bad. Perhaps that’s why generally the older people get the less they seem to worry about stuff.
Am i the only one thinking the greatest regret at the end of my life is gonna be "Damn! It's the end of my life!"
I think you're right. I don't think there's any great revelation(s).
The one regret everyone has at the end of the lives is that the parties always come to an end.
What parties?
These days there are still classic movies made but they're not commercial enough for the wider distribution. Just imagine an action figurine saying: "Would it help?"
They never stood their ground.
If we could all take this attitude into our hearts, we would all have more peaceful hearts.
It's called being stoic.
We would also be hungry if we never worried.
Worry/stress is the number 1 killer
I am reasonably confident that worry did my mom in. I said to a family member that she probably worried herself to an early grave. 😢
Good of you to underline this. Surely it's one of the best lines in the movie history and also from the philosophical point of view.
An excellent movie, and excellent actors.
The older Hanks gets the better his films.
I thought bridge was excellent movie Tom Hank Sir Mark Rylance wet excellent actor have a bless day
How I wish I could take the attitude of "would it help"
You can! You are the creator of your own life.

I often hear people say that they would only regret the things that they didn’t get to do. If only it was that simple. Many of the things we would like to get to do cost money, the kind of money most simply do not have. I would like to visit many places around the world, but i can’t afford it. I would like a big house, and a nice new car, but i can’t afford it. The list goes on. It is acceptable to regret not doing things you wanted, if finance and time allowed you to. But i could never regret not doing something i could not afford, or had too little time to.
I know a chap went to Morocco on a moped , it's doable. You don't need half of the stuff you want you just want it .Rich people get just as depressed as the rest of us , wheras the poor people of Morocco for example as super happy.
If i hadn't seen such riches i could live with being poor, rings more true today than ever
The world is in your backyard.
Worry means you suffer twice. First you suffer worrying, then what you were worried about. If nothing happens you worried needlessly, and keep suffering until something does. Those that do not worry suffer only once at most, and then for only a moment, living joyfully until the next time✌️💚🖖
worry is the by product of thought
“Cowards die many times before their death, the valiant taste it only once"
Shakespeare
Worrying about something often ends up providing either and answer and reducing the impact of the problem. Throughout my life I’ve found worrying is extremely useful in addressing problems. It does help.
Only up to a point ,many people worry when worrying cannot supply an answer or solution ,knowing the difference is key .
Worrying is like paying a debt that you don't owe.
Worrying about something rarely helps. Even if the thing we worry about comes true, you just gave away your peace and let it take more from you.
Sometimes the worry of the thing is even worse than the thing itsef.
When I had to take family leave from my job I talked to quite a few people about it, especially more senior employees. The number one thing everyone said was if they could go back in time they would spend more time with their family. One person even took it a little farther and asked me if I knew what the one thing people never say was. That was I wish I spent more time at work. FLY NAVY!!!
The main regret I hear people say at the end is. I wish I had traveled more. I wish I hadn't worried so much. They apologize alot. They wish they would've given more.
You can worry too much, and you can worry too little.
Great movie. I remember something about he tells Hanks that he could tell whether they were going to shoot him by the way his handlers greeted him. I think they indicated he was going to live.
.....a pure Stoic
Great movie! Great story!
One of my favourite films, two wonderful actors ❤
Excellent, under appreciated movie, “Bridge of Spies”. I remember Frances Gary Powers getting shot down over Russia and the eventual swap with a Russian spy. It was a big deal and the attorney took a lot of crap for defending the spy. But it was a necessary part of the process
Personally, I don't really care about what ever comes up because I have to deal with it so just do what you gotta do.
I have cheated the grim reaper a couple of times in my life. When I have time to think about it, there are many things that I wish that I done differently in my life. When time is short and the end seems very near, I do not regret things that I have done, only those things that I will never get the chance to do.
I only regret wronging people I've known.

Unless you believe in the afterlife, regrets never leave this place we call Earth. So why travel with them during our lives. Acknowledge them and learn from them but don't travel with them. There are enough people out there willing to spend time with regrets. So regrets are never lonely.
Great movie
Too true, but how do I stop?

Ah to be able to choose not to. Worry is often like breathing.
I don't know what this film is.
These clips are from the 2015 movie BRIDGE OF SPIES, starring Tom Hanks and Mark Ryland, who won the Oscar as Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance. Directed by Steven Spielberg, it tells the story of Gary Powers, the American spy-plane pilot shot down over Russia, who was exchanged for a convicted Soviet spy (Ryland) and the American lawyer (Hanks) tasked with defending Ryland's character. It's a very good movie, and you should check it out!
It’s United States citizen, not American citizen.
I have always been a worrier - and it made me good at my job.
I was always thinking of what could go wrong and how it could go wrong - so - if it did - I'd thought of that.
The thing there though - is that I also learned not to worry about things I could do nothing about.
If I could do something about it - I did - if I couldn't I ceased to care.
.
So, in your case, it helped. In his case the forces were so big and reached so far, it wouldn't have helped.
Time wasted?
Is it living in the first place😂😂😂😂
