The Delco oil filter is my top choice. The nylon cage is stronger that the metal ones, and when I took apart the Delco, it had more pleats than even the Wix XP!

Cold start peak oil pressure can expand a weak canister, causing catastrophic failure, total oil leakage. My 50 year import car experience has taught me that the ignored oil filter is the most important part that means life or death for an engine.
Your reasoning is based on nothing but lack of lnowledge the cannister will only burst if the bypass valve fails and the bypass valves are designed to open long before the cannister would burst and to be clear the cannister is going to burst if the oil is so thick and frozen it is a solid and no longer a liguid which means regardless of the cannister bursting or not no oil is going to be flowing in the engine regardless. If you are in this situation (Arctic/Alaska) and do not have a block heater / oil pan heater installed and working you are not going anywhere regardless of whether or not the oil filter is made of glass or 1/4 steel. Some things are designed simply to be good enough and no need to over engineer it any further. Wix is the superior filter here and always has been. But to be clear all 3 of these filters are perfectly adequate and not made by fram any of them is perfectly fine to use but once again the wix is superior. You might wanna watch the engine masters episode where they did a shoot out filtration is the key here

Some other good brand is Mahle btw.
New Chevy 2500hd and the dealer used STP blue oil filter on oil change yesterday! I glanced when there and seen blue so thought AC Delco. Got home to see if greased and was pissed to see STP. They said meets spec. Truck has 18k miles

the new K&N select, ac delco professional, SuperTech and SuperTech Maximum protection, the new STP XL (sold at autozone) and the Fram Drive (sold at advance) and I'm sure there are others are all identical, made by the same manufacturer with a different paint scheme . one or two of them, the ac delco pro and basic supertech, don't have the silcone anti drain back valve. All the filters I mention are one that I looked at for a nissan vehicle and are all the 7317..

How about the Ford filter. I have had a Fram spring have a leak right at the rim below the top of the filter and spray out the side Didn't have to gaskets left on the motor
When I owned Ford’s I always bought Ford Motorcraft filters over Fram just because The Motorcraft stuff said made in USA on the box and the Fram filters were made in China. They’re probably all made in China now.

WIX filter's current employees can not make decisions unless approved by Mann+Hummel superiors as you have seen both Purolator and WIX websites have been modified under Mann+Hummel's orders. They no longer put up sensitive informations like micron rating and etc... freely on their websites unlike before when both companies were still independent.
The "BEST" oil filter is the one which fits your engine. The cheapest Fram has been protecting double all others combined for the past 50 years with very, very few provable issues. The ONLY reason companies make expensive filters is because "you" the consumer is willing to buy them. That's it.
No. The BEST you can say about fram is they work ok and good enough to not damage the engine. They most certainly do not improve or increase anything. And if anything they DO lead to worse performance and engine damage either sooner or just overall. That's the "BEST" you can say. And no kidding it has to be one that fits your engine???
They make can openers for filters. They are great for inspecting the filter after using them to check for metal contaminates. Wring out the filter in a vise.
You are correct ! There is nothing scientific about cutting a filter open and observing the individual contents. A filter works as a UNIT with all the pieces working together. A true evaluation would have to be done after the recommended miles of service and an analysis of the used oil. Just my opinion.
Bottom line folks even if you're using a toilet paper oil filter the most critical part of your lubrication system in a internal combustion motor is to change it on a regular basis end of story but yeah don't buy the orange oil filter of engine death.

When the warranty is still good its the one that the dealer can't blame for any problems. (ACDelco) After the warranty is up.. WIX!!
The Magnuson moss warranty act prevents manufacturers from voiding your warranty without proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
Wix is good quality and there are others but it depends on the situation, Mileage, climate, oil etc........

In 50yrs i have always replaced the filter with my oil (every 3,000mi). My Toyota PU has 170,000mi.
196000 on my 06 tundra with 4.7 v8 , i run 5 or 10w30 royal purple synthetic and a wix filter.

I quit using wix a few months ago. They have changed something and I've had 3 filters have the anti drain material come apart.

Ive been using fram tough guard filters for my ram since 2004 and its still running good.
