From Call to Assistance, How 911 Dispatch System Works
Vložit
- čas přidán 23. 05. 2019
- In the United States, you can summon emergency help from police, firefighters or an ambulance by dialing 911. The first such call was made in 1968 in Haleyville, Alabama. In 1999 Congress directed officials to make 911 the universal emergency number for the United States. Since then, emergency operators have answered more than 240 million calls a year. Lesia Bakalets spent a day with 911 dispatchers to learn about the job's rewards and stresses. Anna Rice narrates her story.

Thanks for your service !!!
So a call center where their employees actually matter.
Tough Job.
Yeah, yeesh. That story of the car fire was haunting.
"It looks like an ordinary office building". Right. Lady has SEVEN screens. That looks TOTALLY normal.
😂😂😂😁
No pressure. Jeez. Thank you dispatch. 🙏🏼
If someone's breaking into my home my 911 is under my bed in a case
Preach!
FUCK YEAH COME AND TAKE EM
*scrolls through CZcams itching to let strangers know about how cool and tough I imagine myself being for owning a firearm in America* An informational video on 911 dispatch? I can make this work...

Ya'll think life is Call of Duty in the USA damn
My call center, we take the calls AND dispatch them. 3 dispatchers, covering 35,000 people in 375 square miles. One person on city police, one person on county police, one person on EMS, and any of the three cover fire. We also will cover for each other if someone is on 911.
How did you become a dispatcher and how long was the process to become one?
I worked in a similar setup - One person on calls, one on fire, one on police, though any of us could take over another's tasks at any time. I wanted to love that job, but man alive, I HATED it. Hopefully you enjoy it.
Timmy K - our training process was 6 months.
I love your comment I respect your profession thank you for your service
Timmy K where I am, it’s a “smaller” country city, so to speak. I’m in Tennessee, and our process was a lot less difficult than many other dispatch centers I’ve seen. With ours, it was a general test that covered your typical subjects from school. Then, an interview with 3 different supervisors, and instead of just covering things like “what did you do in real life in _____ scenario?” It was more of a test to see your personality, because I’m one of only 13 employees, it’s a small group and we all have to get along. Especially since it’s a high-stress environment. The process was maybe a week, because we didn’t have to wait for the background check, since dispatch can do it themselves, no outside company was involved. The process to get *more* confident and decently efficient took about 3 months. However, it took about 7 months before I got good. To be perfectly honest, I’m still not great at dispatching fire! We deal with it so infrequently, I’ve only dispatched fire 3 times in the 9 months I’ve been working.
@@AnonDrewT Thanks so much, im looking forward to becoming one.
In my life time . I have did hospital dispatcher. But was not as complicated. As 911 dispatcher. But I really enjoyed hospital dispatcher and a being a Security Officer for the Mental health services.
Wow! I never knew this is how it all worked 😮
Breaking: Mount Everest to initiate 911 service for the popular travel destination. Hikers will be able to use call boxes installed all along popular routes to the summit to summon assistance in the event of an emergency. Officials said average time for sherpas to respond will be approximately 3 weeks.

1:41 bruh y she got dat lil smirk on ha face talm bout dat crazy s**t ???😭😭🤣
Who do you report these people to?!
We seldom get to see the success stories, but some of the bad ones really annoy me. What is with 911 operators always asking callers to repeat everything?
I'm an indian how can I apply for this post because I have 2 years experience
i need urgent help
Well Oregon needs to screen their 911 operators a lot better because I know for a fact they have a major druggie working for them. I was shocked to hear she was hired. I feel bad for the people that will call her for help.
I hope she gets clean and in the meantime I hope she continues to do a good job.
Potheads as well.
Keyboard warriors + DND players = 911 operator
It’s called the fire department this is America not London
Try hey should do away with the typing and allow the dispatcher to confrence in the operator on mute so they can hear what’s going on for thenselves
911 can I help you? Yeah, my CZcams won’t work and I need assistance! Haha
0:42 dude, what??
Hmm. I wonder if Snyder knows who these non transparent employees work for ? - I would like to post that the people should not touch any free money give away from Community Bank, as today a barcode shipment of chemicals made it through a non transparent OSHA DOT hazmat placard loop hole, from a warehouse...not from Tony Robins off shore post office...uh does anyone even know who their postal workers are ? - We still have missing Fentynal, and theres no EBS warning of pandemic. Does anyone know whats being sprayed without identification to the Argon barrier membrane of Noble emissions ? - I bet no one even knows what I'm talking about since the Surgeon Attorney General lost his job back in 82. Its all perfectly ' legal '. Stay vigilant, this is a set up, please know your neighbors and warn them to not withdraw any stimulus until those chemicals have been varified by someone with a name tag identifiable to the windshield registration of a DOT fold out diamond placard. Thank you.
Are we talking about *Building 7* ?

The 911 dispatch where I live asks stupid questions and makes you repeat youself many times over, they try to make you answer in a ridiculous way so they can have something to laugh about at their yearly party. I give them the address where an accident is and they want my name and address where I live so they can get confused and send the paramedics to my house. You would think that someone could get the information like "accident" "where" "injuries" as long as help is on the way you really don't need my personal information I'll give that to the police if they ask.
I'm driving and see a house on fire with a ton of smoke, they insist that I need to know if someone is in the house "well how the hell am I supposed to know I was just driving by like I said in the first place. Did you want me to break the door down and play peek a Boo pussycat, Just send lots of help.
They get your personal information incase they need to contact you for more information at a later date.. they *shouldn't* get your info confused with where the accident takes place.. just because you cant get multiple addresses without getting confused does not mean they cant.. also, they're usually typing down all the info as you are saying it..
Clarrisa Rogers birmingham operater 911 ems squad out

Marijuana's legal throughout America you stupid fucking asshole third-world weenie washer maggot
Well, that escalated quickly. Why would you think this Denver Broncos fan is a third worlder?

Your deductive skills place me in Colorado due to a thumbnail. You must have done well in school.
I called them a few months ago when MSNBCannibals sent one of their hitmen after me from my trolling of MSNBC youtube channel
Worse people ever. They need to be trained on how to deal with traumatic events. It seems like they all have attitudes and impatient.
I knew a 911 operator she was great in bed. And on her job every time a homosexual would call for help she would put them on hold and then hang up on him I laugh to think how many homosexuals died in Los Angeles
@ LOL sounds like her cousin. And she still working in Los Angeles and still hanging up on homosexuals LOL
911 is soo slow. If it's for police they respond in 20 minutes until the situation has played out. Don't continue talking to 911 until the perp is dead.
Arm yourself defend yourself and family.
