You really did a lovely job with Simon! The only thing I would do if I were you is to get training tips from trainers who participate in the Mustang Makeover challenges. Considering what you are doing, it would be in your best interest and the best interest of the horses you train to get them trained as quickly as possible without sacrificing any of the quality. You can learn from them how to fast track your training program! They have to have their completely wild untouched mounts in a saddle the first day. And you would be just as delighted with the end results. Ive seen them, they are great horses!
@@originalbadguy9520 I'm honestly not in a rush and there is really no need to fast track results with horses who have a history of abuse and are terrified. I'm perfectly happy with the time this took and personally don't think it is really in any horse's best interest to go from unhandled and terrified to broke in 30 days or less unless they need to be. He is young and had a rough start, speed will sacrifice the quality if there is pressure to meet a deadline. There is no way he could have been saddled the first day without being flooded and overwhelmed, it would just be unnecessary.
@@Milestone-Equestrian What an awesome job you've done. It's obvious that Simon trusts you and that's because of how you have chosen to handle him so keep doing it your way! I am no longer physically able to ride and am envious! Keep up the awesome work!
@@Milestone-Equestrian Some of the best horse trainers (horse whisperers) in the world do it that way! lol, I think it is really funny that you think so much of yourself and YOUR training experience that you would question THEIR knowledge! In so far as doing anything harmful to the horse! (ESPECIALLY when they have about THIRTY YEARS on you of training time!) Also, it is also ridiculous to say, yeah, I dont mind doing something in 10 days that I could easily do in 5. Maybe THAT isnt good for the horse! Maybe if he could talk, he would say, "What do you mean you dont mind taking 10 days! NO THANKS! I prefer to do it in 5!" LMAO (also, you ARE coming along nicely as a trainer! This is evidenced by your very typical attitude of being on the defense *passive/aggressively* if anyone has any advice!)
@@originalbadguy9520 Actually, most animals prefer to go at the pace that they personally need. There is no need to rush a horse who is terrified. That isn't thinking highly of myself. If you were actually a horse person, you would be well aware of the damage pushing a horse too fast can do. Moving slower hurts no one so I'm not really sure why you're feeling the need to condescend me for that but alas, you will not change my opinion on taking time with the horses who need it. They may have more years of training on me, but that doesn't change the fact that flooding a wild animal by rushing to put a saddle on them in their first day being handled would be stressful. I do not do 30 day challenges or cowboy challenges for a reason, I think it is too fast. If there were a way I could do it without causing unnecessary stress, I would, but there is absolutely 0 need to stress traumatized animals further by rushing their training. I train sporthorses and handle a lot of previously abused horses, my ambitions are a lot different than the average person doing the 30 day makeover challenges. I produce well minded and safe horses and stand by that. I'm not going to flood this pony by rushing him and produce what could potentially be a ticking time bomb stress case for a kid to get on. And no, if he could talk he wouldn't say that because having us in the stall with him that first day was panic inducing even when we were far away. There is absolutely no way horse like that would want to be saddled the first day or days later, the only thing that would have achieved for us is a completely fried horse who wants nothing to do with people.
I love your mom's reaction to getting on Simon. It's obvious that she cares fot your horses as much as you do. 😀 She is a great addition to your videos
For*
@@stevejefferson635 seriously did you need to do that
I wish my mom was like that, whenever I go riding and do something new (like jumping for the first time) it seems like she could care less, but her mom is amazing!
smart horses love to learn! He gets what's expected
Aww I know! What a nice reaction. Poor guy came a long way.
Amazing transformation! You did such a great job saving him and training him!
Hello Nicole
Hi Nicole I would love to see more videos of you riding miss seeing your ponies ( I know they’re not actually ponies)
Hey Nicole! I wish u would have more videos of the horses and just fun times with them!
NICOLE SKYES it is you!!!!
Hi I did not think you would comment on this video
I love how enthusiastic your mom is about everything horses
Those 40 dislikes are from people that work at slaughter houses
😂😂😂
Mrs Seavey 🤣🤣🤣
Or trolls
In other words....THEY DON’T HAVE HEARTS OR EMOTIONS
Just seeking Truth,
it’s not funny it’s emotionless

What he said is true
wow!only six months for that big a a transformation? I rescued an abused horse a while back and it has taken me three years to get her to a point where I can ride and work more on myself than on her. You are a miracle worker!
I thought so too, that's really no time at all considering what state he was in!
I swear ponies are so good at overcoming things. They seem to turn around a lot faster than horses. My pony is completely different from when I got him, showed 4 months after nearly killing me 😂lady before him let him get away with near murder
An excellent result! Many years ago I rescued a Welsh type pony from the local pound, the only other bidder was the dogger (abattoir worker). She was skinny, had a matted and felted coat and bit anybody or anything that came near her. The ground work put in with her was similar to what you have done with Simon, only Possum was too small for my weight so I had a local lad back her. No fuss whatever. She turned out to be around four years old and a very pretty dapple grey. She was sold to a show family as 'green broke'. Within a couple of months Possum was showing up on photographs from local shows with her lovely boy rider. She was a very good all rounder. Happy endings :)
Lynda Painter so awesome!!!!!
Good job!
I see a lot of people are sad that Shelby will eventually have to sell Simon, and although I’d love to see her and her mom ride him forever just the thought of him going to a family with a little girl (or girls!) to spoil him and love him and give him endless attention makes it all so worth it!☺️💕
Ps. He’ll be a superstar at shows for sure!! Definitely see him as a cute lil hunter!
Plus the reality is if they keep the horses they rescue then they won't be able to rescue more. You can only keep so many horses.
Your mom is the real national treasure
Is no one gonna talk about how absolutely gorgeous he is???
He is a very gorgeous boy. Any horse that is rescued from the kill pen have a tendency to be very good horses, i don't agree with the slaughter auctions. If your horse needs the last act of kindness and their quality of life is compromised then let them go.
The clip where Simon lays Dow in the snow is too cute 😂😍 it’s like he’s thinking “yeah soft... oh no too cold” and than he stands up again
12:35 ummm wow! Especially compared to the first clip! I think you don't give yourself enough credit 👍🏻
Its so nice to See your Mom still in Love With Simon....😍😍
I have 2 rescues and one of them is a pony and he had the same temper as Simon when u started him bit with work, he's getting there now and the other is the most amazing horse I could EVER ask for.
Lucky...I have lessons once a week
You should be so proud of yourself. This is honestly touching. When you first got him I admit I wasn't picturing him coming out nearly as well as he did. I expected a much more shy guy, but he's amazing. Truly phenomenal work.
he's become such an amazing lil squidge 😍 i wish i was about a foot shorter lol
I can't believe this sweet baby was gonna get slaughtered. Breaks my heart to know that millions of others like him get killed every day.. You did an amazing job with him. I wish you both he best ❤️
Simon won the Lottery for real💕You’re great Shelby!
Aw he’s gonna make a kid so so happy one day.
WHOEVER DISLIKES THIS VIDEO I HATE YOU!!!
I love what you guys did for Simon 🥰 so sweet
His smile after taking a treat made my day
What a lovely transformation. I don't understand why anyone would thumbs down this video. You did a fine job with this pony and thank goodness you saved his life in the process. You're a great horsewoman. Can't wait to see more from Simon in the future!
Some people just hate everything Shelby stands for-primarily, respect for horses and their natural wants and desires. Rather than change their own ways, they shame her to make it seem like she’s in the wrong and make themselves feel better for how they treat their horses.
I love how much you care for your horses, first of all. Second, you obviously have a way with horses because every video of yours I see you are patient, kind, and amazing with all of the horses that you cross paths with. I love watching you work with horses and I hope I can be half as talented as you someday.
I wish Simon was bigger so he could be your mom's horse. I love them together so much
I want to tell you guys thanks for your care, compassion and love you showed to Simon. ( in this video).
I sometimes think I care for animals more than people.
I know I do. Not think I do
It just shows how much a bid can change a ponies life! Good work on simon💞
Simon is one smart and handsome little fella. I’m so glad you rescued him and he’s living a good life now. Good for you!! 💙
You are a patient angel, and I feel Simon eventually realized this as well. Thank you for your determination, and thank Simon for me for his bravery.
What a beautiful change you've done. Hard work can go a long way for such a beautiful pony. Starting off scared and aggressive to just the sweetest pony I've ever seen. Kindness can go such a long way if you just try and don't give up on them.
That was great we the dog was next to him! He didn’t spook. He’s so lucky to have you!
Beautiful job with Simon. I think if he could talk he would say, “Thank you Shelby, I love you too!”
Simon is soo happy and I think he will always love you for what you did to him..💓
okay real talk though, why does simon calmly canter a pole better than my jumper lmao
Look at Simon. I don't know much about horses, I know I love them but, you have done a magnificent work with him. What a beauty. I'm fixin to watch his next video. I know he's happy that you got him, I know I am.
Aw your mums reaction to her riding Simon for the first time oh my heart its so adorable, Simon has come so far be proud :)
I remember when you first got him and he was so scared I can’t believe he’s so confident now
I love how his first time taking a treat went like:
“Eat the treat”
“No”
“Try it”
“NO”
“Come on its apple flavored”
“Ugh *munch*”
“See?”
“You got anymore?”
He’s so gorgeous. It’s really a testament to your approach and hard work and how you treated him right.
Do you feel he was mistreated being as he was so aggressive at times?
I used to ride when I was a child and I miss it so much.
It’s so amazing you could teach him what the legs mean from the ground. Your clearly doing an amazing job. Way to go.
when I'm older I want to rescue a horse
Me too
Lily and the grey Yea me too
Me too, I really love horses but I can't get one bc they are too expensive for my family right now 😢
@@laurenequestrian3358 - The same on my side. But one never knows, one day it may be possible 🙂.
Find a group, and find several mentors. Doesn't matter if you love them to death, you need to engage in tough love, and you need advice from people who have done it before. Keep in mind that what you are doing is for the animal's long term benefit.
I used to do dog rescue - I was willing to make a dog despise me to make them adoptable and honestly, I'd prefer them to hate me because when they went to a new home, they were the best dogs ever.
I know very little about horses, so you probably would have to have a different approach. My job was to make certain the dog wasn't violent, didn't eliminate in the home, and trusted all people with the possible exception of me. Given more time, they would heel, be able to walk off leash, and obey orders. You're a teacher not a buddy or a friend.
Once they were trained, could be trusted with strangers, I was the absolute best buddy and friend.
Simon has the prettiest face with those markings, he seems like a very smart boy and very willing.
I am so glad that you safed this super cute boy he looks so much better at the end I am glad there are still people who do this
Well done with him! From what you have shown us, kids will be incredibly happy to have him in the future. But in the meanwhile, be sure to enjoy every bit of the process :-)
Well done and thank you for all you do for rescue horses and to show the world how amazing they can be!
your giving Simon a great home , I’m so glad you were able to save him from slaughter💕
I cried watching this. I have transformed horses that were throw away horses. I retrained them and they were bought by loving riders/owners. My life goal will be to have a horse rescue full time...it was what I was created to do. Thank you and God bless you 💗
Both of my rescues are the greatest things to have ever happened to me. Thank you for championing for rescued horses
I can't stop seeing a heart shape on his head ❤ this is just a work of love and patience, time and healing.
Ty so much
I am scared of horses and we dont understand each other but I SO appreciate your knowlegde and professionalism! (And courage:)) Amazing
You did a great job training him, and it’s really awesome that you rescued him
You've done a fine job saving and training this horse. Makes me miss riding my quarter horse snort bareback for hours on trail rides. I would come back a new new man and 15 hands 2 and 1200 pounds he loved the exercise. Pretty much bombproof. You can guess why they called him snort. Yes a lot as a foal.
Six months of amazing training and love have paid off, he has become such an amazing little pony!!
U deffinatly made the right decision getting Simon because look at him now
I’m so glad you did the first rides rather introduce a stranger before he is ready.
I have a similar gelding who was aggressive when I got him from the feedlot. Now, almost 4 years later, I trust him to carry my very nervous little sister with ease. It's been a long journey, but I also haven't had the slightest clue as to what I'm doing. So I feel proud of my journey too. I love Simon. Handsome and smart.
Wow what fantastic work withSimon so happy he has had a positive experience with people as they cannot speak we never know what they have endured at the hands of people that they become so great full well done the care and love and kindness works for us all including animals ❤
I almost wish you would consider keeping Simon for your mom. It's obvious that she is so so SO attached to him and I don't blame her one bit. What a job well done with him, Shelby. I'm blown away by your talent. Keep up the hard work.
He needs a kid as his main rider regardless so in the future will definitely at least be leased. My mom loves him but we both know it isn't in his best interest to essentially be a companion pony
@@Milestone-Equestrian I agree with you whole heartedly! He will be such a rockstar pony for a kid. Just seeing that clip of your mom riding him and crying happy, crocodile tears really tugged at my heartstrings for her. Please pass along my kindest regards to her. And again, keep up the amazing work that you do, Shelby!
Your other horse also probably helped a lot with the training process. Because other horses learn from each other! Great job and keep up the wonderful work and keep following your heart ❤️
Your mom crying is the most beautiful part of this video. I too would be a proud sloppy mess looking at how far this pony has come. I can no longer ride and must live my horse interactions through others, like you. Thank you for sharing your life. What about the other horse?
Videos like these are almost always so beautiful! I'm impressed with how good you are at handling horses and ponies! Seeing the difference from the beginning to now is... It's just so amazing! The bond you have with your horses are amazing!
Simon and the dog look similar😂😂 and Simon is adorable
He's come so far & he's a cute pony! You done a terrific job. Thank you for rescuing him.
You have done an extremely good job on Simon, keeping it simple and allowing him to learn steadily. Well done!
Simon is beautiful ,and you did a great job with him. When I was 10 I had a pony who looked so similar.🐎❤️ Thank you for sharing!
Simon is a cracking little pony. I also adore your mum's love for Simon.
So glad you bought Simon. You saved his life! He's so sweet. So smart. He is beautiful. You are the best thing that happened to him . Thank you so much!
She is a very pretty little girl. So happy you were able to rescue her
Shelby, you and your Mom did so well helping him become a wonderful, personable riding horse and human friend. So gratifying to witness! He is such a looker too! I love his unique and fetching facial markings especially. Who could kill such a beautiful, young gelding with such potential? Big applause to you!!!!
Shelby, you are an absolute inspiration! Not only are you fearless! But you make for an amazing and adventurous individual. Watching your videos I feel so close to nature and it's amazing all that you've had the courage to go for and successfully do! That says a lot about a person.
Thank you!
Majority of my moms side of the family comes from (and even still live in) Dawson Creek. You definitely know what you're doing and Simon is lucky to have been saved by you.
What a great job you've done with SImon. He's so pretty and willing to work!
I really like the way you worked with Simon. That you gave him time and built up the trust with him. But I don´t think he was really agressive, I think he was scared and therefore he striked out. Good work and your mom is wonderful. I also started to get emotional as she did when she road Simon. Just wonderful and heart warming
Such a wonderful story. Simon is such a handsome horse. Thank you for being patient with him. God bless.
You have done the most wonderful job with your pony Simon, I love him he is a very cute little fellow. Also SIMON is my brothers’ name. He truly is going to make a great little show pony, with his super markings he really will stand out.
What a lucky little pony to have ended up being yours.
Congratulations! Your work with gaining Simon's trust and teaching him was completely AWESOME!
Give yourself real relaxing spa day that horse is unrecognizable wonderful job everyone of you who takes care of the horses
WOW IM IN LOVE WITHTHIS LITTLE GUY IM SO HAPPY YOU SAVED HIS LIFE THANK YOU
Those ponies are so pretty!! Thank you for saving them
He is. A pretty pony. Now I know how I looked on our pony of that size. I am 5’3” and also light. Congratulations on making him happy and well behaved.
I wish I had your training talents, however I do appreciate what you are doing for these horses. I love the way you narrated Simon's story, and wish you and all your horses the very best. Thank you for sharing this experience and his transformation in this video.
I love how your mom is so excited about Simon
Simons not short on the groceries, chuckle chuckle.. what a cutie.
Thank you Shelby for rescuing him and with your care and training he has actually become worth his weight in gold
Aw this makes me so happy! Simon has turned out to be such an awesome pony. And your mom's reaction was the cutest thing ever :)
Love seeing your transformations. So fantastic.
I am so happy for Simon to get into your hands becuse his transformation is so amazing and all that he has learned is amazing. What you are doing is so amazing good luck with him in the future!
You should be so very proud of yourself it's amazing what you and your mom have done, from someone who owns a horse who was previously badly abused and a pony who was semi wild I know how hard this must have been, he's one hell of a pony and I got so emotional watching the video, well done !!
I'm happy I'm not the only one that did this in BC
such an amazing transformation!💞
Way to go you have done really well with Simon from the day you got him OMG he has come along with flying colours well done 😊😊😊😊
Great job Shelby!!!
REALLY AWESOME! You are truly inspiring:) keep it up!
AMAZING!!!!😍😍

Love you. You are awsome and keep making great content
He looks absolutely phenomenal! Fantastic job 👏🏼
Amazing job Shelby!
Wonderful video! Your narration is great. I just loved this video.
Fabulous! Well done!

He’s the most adorable little boy 😍 beautiful what you managed with him!
