The idea, layout, colour wheel are all great and look great. BUT, not seeing Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Mystic Quest, Illusion of Time and Equinox together will always hurt my childhood. What a lineup that was. Almost made me regret selling my collection that.

I love the way the megadrive looks but, given the chance I would be moving those snes shelves in a way that the games can be displayed the right way up..even though less would fit on each shelf-but then the shelves could move up to add at least another row in : the way they are often hurts my eyes when trying to see what the obscure titles are.
The idea of setting them in colour order is very interesting though!
Cool video...ultimately a great job and it's great to see individuals setting up game collections/rooms the way they want!

I’ll be honest, I didn’t think it would come across onto the video, thought it would look great to you, maybe not from a camera, but I was very wrong. It looks great. Good effort.
The be honest I’m always changing my games room around so I get the ocd nature of it all lol. Looks good though. I do wonder how you are gonna manage with space if you’re going for full sets of collections.
To me, white is at the start (left) as it is the lack of colour. Black is at the end (right) as it is all colour together or a solid block of colour so much that it is no longer colour.

Always good for the mind to change stuff around and does look good. I am still a bit of a A to Z guy myself , but stuff gets mixed up anyway 😂. Nerd fact B&W don’t appear on the colour tree as they are technically not colours but shades , I think ? Keep up the great work

At the start i thought nooooooo, but tbh it looks good. Personally it would be a wall of my favorites. As you say it will be a developing design over the next few years as you get closer to the full set. Can always switch it up again when you fancy a change.

That’s very easy on the eye, I think after a few weeks you’ll get a feel for where certain games are even though they’re not alphabetised so wouldn’t worry too much!

Love the color way you did that and how you go against the grain with your collection. Thats the way i do mine alphabetical is overhyped in my opinion. You should know whats in your collection, and if that takes a few more seconds to scroll through your vast stock of games, then so be it. Good job, man 💪🏾

with the spines being predominantly black, would it be possible to do the colour wheel justice through the writing on the spine rather than the box itself? also watching your vids has inspired me to start collecting for myself but I don't know where to start with something thats relatively affordable, have you got any pointers/advice for that?
I'd just recommend looking at a system that has plenty of games you'd like to play. Machines with lots of great affordable games include PS2, Original Xbox, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Switch.
Main thing is you are happy buddy, me ? I'd be sitting in a corner twitching having games from a series all over the place 🤣😂 Everything is A-Z for me.

It’s an interesting idea and aesthetically fun but I couldn’t be doing with having games all out of order. Especially with series that have multiple games been apart from each other.
Yeah I understand that, just something I've wanted to do for months now, happy with end result, but it will be modified in then future for sure

The bottom shelf with the spines on show. Could you colour code the titles of the games as they differ. You have yellow /reds /blues you could put together under the colour of the rest on show.
Yeah that was something I considered, but it became a question of opinion very quickly, as some titles were multiple colours / none description and from a short distance they were largely indistinguishable

Yeah, I have alphabetical with all my games, except those that are forward facing, they face forwards for the art / display

This how I've always organised shelves, by spine colour. Cones from the megadrive games I had when I was a kid as they look awful in alphabetical order

I don't want to sound like a dick, but I much preferred how it was before. The titles on show were more of a showcase of your favourite titles. It was more individual to you as a gamer/collector. Now it just looks like a generic rainbow. Not everything has to be in order I guess.
I get that, it's definitely an individual things I prefer the look now, but it will definitely continue ti evolve going forwards
