- Clash Royale is adding level 15 and elite cards with elite wild cards, and while the elite cards are actually really cool, level 15 is not cool. It seems the community was very mislead by them happily saying there would be no gold cost, but the actual cost of level 15 is much worse than some gold.
Do not send any hate to Supercell, that is not the point of this video. I am just showing the community's feedback about level 15, along with giving my own opinion and some reasons as to why level 15 is objectively a bad idea, with how they want to operate it. If level 15 had no cost or a much lower cost, it would be fine.

I think this is like 10x worse then the backlash Brawl received lol. But the brawl team is good and actually learns from their mistakes
level 11 was not even close to "killing the game" or something. you can extremely easily get any brawler to level 9 nowadays

9:14 Slight mistake, that is not the Elite Level, but the Evolution for the Royal Giant. Elite Levels are just a stat increase, whereas Evolutions give different perks to cards every few cycles. Anyway, it was a surprise to see you speak about that issue and I really appreciate that you brought it up. Personally, I play Clash Royale, Clash of Clans and Brawl Stars, sometimes in different timeframes and I can say… Clash Royale feels like it is owned by a different company.
The carrot thing is so good because if your f2p the carrot is getting further away you will never be maxed if they keep releasing new levels
I’m glad you mentioned the stuff with overwatch 2 since the amount of hope I loss in ow 2 is almost equivalent to clash (I use to play these games when I was way younger and it Sucks to see how they have basically gone down hill idk)
And the worst part about is that it would have been one thing for upgrading from lvl 14 to lvl 15 was the same as upgrading a card to any other level but for reference is takes 43 legendary cards to get one legendary card from level 9 to level 14, and from level 14 to 15 the conversion rate would amount to needing 250 legendary cards, which is more than 5 times the amount of cards required to get a card from level 9 to 14, JUST LET THAT SINK IN
8:41 -> For those of you who are from brawl stars and don't understand, in Clash Royale there are these things called 'king levels' and at each one you have some rewards (usually just chests and a new feature being unlocked). It used to be that there were 14 king levels and each level increased the strength of your defending towers. A while ago they changed it so that there are 50 king levels and split the power of your towers into a new section (called 'tower power') (there still are still only 14/15 tower power levels). Now with the addition of lvl15, they are adding 20 more (70 total) so that you can progress to 'tower power' (or the level of your defensive towers) to 15. The point in the table was that they are treating this level both as something new, and the same as the others, making it confusing. This also causes issues because F2P players constantly get stuck at arenas because their level isn't high enough to progress (and they don't have enough gold/cards to get more levels).

Levels 10 and 11 were in no means a bad thing since the, provided gears which made them distinguishable from previous levels and the devs also introduced Club League which was a huge boost to progression to compensate.
The whole people like leveling up cards, I think Gratz explains it pretty well. That being Supercell think everyone wanted to level up to level 14, when the reason people were leveling up was to keep up and because Champions released. So essentially, because of Champions, Supercell think people like leveling up cards because it was a side effect of Champions
As a big overwatch fan playing since 2016 its so sad seeing non blizzard/overwatch content creator talk about the state and the comunication of the Actibilzz developers...

I think that the fact that leveling up is recursive just makes new levels worse. At least with Brawl Stars, 1 or 2 levels don’t change too many interactions, and gears aren’t crazy influential or anything. It still was a problem, but at least it was solvable with some progression buffs. But CR has so many issues with ladder and progression, that I can’t think of any ways to solve it myself, apart from giving away levels for practically free or something, due to the current state of the game.

Well brawlstars learned from their mistake and made things a lot better.....lets see if clash royale can do the same. I did intend on returning to the game eventually, but in at the state its in now. Yea no. Card evolutions is a good step in the right direction.....but the thing is they might mistake lvl15 as being the reason anyone comes back to the game, like what happened with lvl14 and champions.

it was already enough when they changed the battle pass and did whatever with shop points. doing things like removing crowns and chests from casual modes cuz "it would've been confusing". pol being draft only got tedious and annoying rq. all these changes were super fast in retrospect like wth
4:26 The dev teams at Supercell all seem to be fairly independent, based on the podcasts and an interview with Frank like a month ago. If a dev team is making good or bad decisions, it has nothing to do with the other dev teams

i agree with these kind of changes being outrageous but what I find interesting is how no-one bats an eye when clash of clans adds a new town hall with each wall costing like 5 million gold and there being like 400 walls :D
At least with BS upgrading a brawler feels rewarding with gears but in clash upgrading feels like you almost get nothing
just a +10% prev stat buff... could change interactions but not all the time, not even every card should be upgraded like skellies which are literally 1 hit by almost everything distractors with little damage or tornado which gets an advantage when low lvl to pull fragile units to king without it ded
It is not even comparable to the brawl star's mistake. There was a purpose for level 10 and 11 i.e. you could unlock gears after upgrading. Also, they added club league at the same update which massively boosts your progression. Even after all these good things, the update was not good.
At clash royale's case, what does the game do to increase progression to compensate for the new level? Nothing. Sure they increased the gold but gold is not even required for level 15. And what even is the point of the new level??? It doesn't change any interactions or gameplay. I seriously don't understand who is making these decisions at the team and how they are missing the obvious flaws in the update.

My classmates were playing CR like crazy. However, since the update came, they have all left the game. I played CR a bit (quitted at 4k cups) and lvl 14 was already hard and now 15?! Nah man. They killed game really fast.
and a few weeks after update for losers was announced, my classmate from an old school asked me if I have cr lmaoo... told him I haven't played for weeks... he prob heard of the update since we were playin' the game a lot back in 2016 and 2017 and he was the first to get a legendary in our group... last time I played with one of them was 2021 when I came back (I had an offensive name but it got changed to flying balloon lmaoo) in a new acc and got a hella lotta legendaries after a few weeks of playin'... then flexed it to the same guy who asked me if I still have it in late 2022
7:02 the data and demand is coming from the higher ups at supercell. Daily player count is down, most active players are near max or don’t rush progression so they don’t spend money like they used too. Instead of trying to find ways to get new people to play the game, they are focusing on milking their current player base.

Global Launch player here. I went back to Clash of Clans and uninstalled after the Update for Losers and haven't come back since.
CR is irredeemable at this point. A once great game turned it into a mishandled mess.
Clash royale is a good game honestly. I was in the cash tournaments scene a few years back and it was fun. I didn't need max cards to actually play those tournaments. I did more than losing at the very first match, but i didn't win any money either.

I don't play Clash Royale, but I do Brawl Stars, and I remember how expensive it was at first to go from level 10 to 11, so I can't imagine 14 to 15 in Clash Royale. Hopefully Supercell changes this, good luck guys.

I feel like comparing brawl stars's lvl 11 and clash royale's lvl 15 is not even fair. Sure it was a nightmare to get brawlers from lvl 9 to lvl 11 WITH the terrible gear drop rates, but clash royale's lvl 15 is actually terrible in every way possible, with like 2-3 back to back updates which worsened the experience and made me never come back to the game ever again. I hope they fix this, and rework the progression in clash royale, cuz the progression feels so BAD and slow and in my opinion, has felt bad ever since lvl 14. They kept adding new ways to get rewards in brawl stars and even reworked how you get gears etc etc. So I hope clash also looks at the glaringly obvious bad updates they've been putting out and try to fix it/rework the progression entirely.

Amazing a billion dollar company has a dev team that's utterly oblivious of their own game. They do not even know how to make the game better 🤦. It should easily still be a top 10 game with 10 times the playerbase generating 10 times the revenue. Its unbelievable how bad of a job they have done with the game. And now they have it in hyperdrive straight into the gutter.
Played since day 1, clan leader, have 5 accounts, 1 max 14. Done with it. They will never improve the game...they dont even know how to.

Honestly brawl needed level 11 for gears(lvl 7 gajets lvl 9 star powers lvl 10/11 gears), it was never a problem gears were problem but here is whole other story
Nah, the problem was dropping level 10 AND 11 at once, if it was only level 10 it would have been a fine update at the end of the day
the issue was how expensive gear scrap was and that gear tokens were gacha. Also power 10 and 11 at the same time was dumb.
The brawl stars level 11 update made me quit playing the game for the most part, time to rarely play clash royale for the same reason, it's very annoying when the few maxed brawlers / cards magically become not maxed just because they need their whales to buy stuff cause they are uncreative pieces of sh- aka 'people' that work on CR.
I don't think brawl stars really made a mistake wirh lvls 10 and 11 since wqxh onw of them unlcoks a gear whoch changes the gameplay. They also made it way easier to progres with Club League to compensate and only made it better and better with new updates.
For Clash royale however, level 14 to lvl 15 is just luke any other level up. Purely stats increase and no more.
