- Note: The feature demonstrated in this video is only available on debugging/testing kits. Not working on retail consoles.
Thanks dickibow@AssemblerGames/ObscureGamers who found the key combination(L1+R1+L2+R2) to activate this hidden region setting feature. I believe it may have been mentioned by official sony manual for debugging tools. But sadly I don't have it. So it's really a surprise to get this feature working.
* This feature may not work on earlier models. DTL-H75000A and DTL-H90000A are the only confirmed working models.

I have a PS2 test system and didn't know about the region change option.
1:00 OMG I miss the first startup so much. I would give everything to replay it again on my TV.
I think there's homebrew that lets you do it again.

I've never seen it, I bought from the store an already-modded ps2 at the time, with a 64mb memory card and 2 games (and yes, that store sold modded ps2 at a reasonable price, what can I say, Welcome to Naples bro) I've only seen that start-up on YT and thought it was fake. 😂😂😂

At startup ps2, press r2 and l2 hold it till menu appears.. thats 100 bucks please for the info..

Was hoping this would work on my fat TEST PS2... it plays NTSC PS1 games in 50hz but otherwise almost the perfect PS2.

PAL(EU) is the normal one that has all the Languages(from English till,German,Dutch,French,Italian,Spanish and Portoguese). on PAL(RU) btw.if im not wrong..
it has only English and Russians .

Sorry, this feature does not exist on retail console. Only working on test kit (DTL-H Model). For retail console, you don't have to own a Swap Magic disc. FMCB or fortuna exploit are better choices to boot homebrew.

No. Works on DTL-75000A and later models only.

I believe it works on Deckard PS2s, but they have to be set up as TEST units. (This is because Deckards have standardised ROMs, with region settings in rewritable memory)
Mechapwn won't do it out of the box, because it's set up to mimic a QA unit, not a debug one.

It only works on Dev kits, SCPH consoles dont have this compatibility unless you mod the bios somehow idk

@@jeffersonlangfeld1271 It works for DTL-H75000 and DTL-H90000 only. Confirm your console model, if it's a retail SCPH-XXXXX then it won't work. But I heard there are people working on homebrew program to do the similar job (modifing the EEPROM) on retail consoles to make it region switchable like DTL-H model.

My playstation after connecting to my tv is showing system configuration and browser and my controller is not responding to any function apart from shifting from browser to configuration only

Why on the bios you don't have the animation of the spinning balls?
Besides, I don't know why but on my PS2, I no longer have the animation of the balls that move but since today I just have a big point that remains frozen, (like on your video) I don't know not why ... That menú is changing region on EEPROM.
When that happens, the EEPROM checksum does not match anymore, resulting on the welcome screen happening again

You don't need to do what you seen in the video, you have a retail unit.
Just install a modchip if you want your console to become region-free.
