The surface imperfections of poured bars make great identifiers in case of theft. If you photograph these then you can use it for insurance identification. Just like a serial number but you can't scrape off the contours of a poured bar.

Poured bars have that more rustic look of silver. I liked both types of silver bars. Both are different.

Poured has an artisan quality attached to them.
I especially like bars with heavy pour lines and are of correct weight because it takes an awful lot of skill to accomplish.
That all being said, I’m predominantly a stacker as opposed to being a collector. So it has to be something pretty special too me, for me to pay an exorbitant amount over spot.

What do you think about buying hand poured silver bars from eBay sellers? I took a chance and won a 58.5 g silver homemade hand poured bar. The seller has an Excellent selling record, so this was his first pour. I just don’t know if there any Impurities in there, I won it about 6 under spot. I think I only won it because the auction ended in the middle of the night , so I think my Competition were sleeping. Lol

However you have to say star wars has come to town with the new induction cast bars and low vacuum provides a high quality product. Both old and new provide joy to the community of stackers investors alike

Thanks for the insight Sal, very interesting. Epiphany for me is that the bars / coins show the accuracy of the metal in them (999, 9999, 99999), but there is a lot of inconsistancy on the actual amount of metal in them, they just stamp them with 1oz, 5oz, 10oz ... but if you weight them they could actually be off by a decimal or two: 9.99 oz, 10.01 oz (realizing that stamping to that level would be near on impossible). Also, I've seen a few folks in here pouring their metal, but how do they know they actually have the right amount ... I know when I pour the last little bit of milk into my tea in the morning from the carton, emptying it, there's always trace amounts still left in the jug. Thoughts? I ran out of milk this morning, and going to use that opportunity to go buy a few coins while picking up a jug of milk (the bullion dealer is right across the street from my local market).
