    People who aren't into figure skating have no idea how physically demanding it is and most people would not have the discipline and perseverance to excel at it. In physical demands it is right up there with the track and field decathlon, in that you have to have explosive power to jump yet you also need tremendous endurance. On top of that you also need balance and flexibility. Then you're pushing yourself to the limits to try to do skills that the body wasn't designed to do, but you do it anyway. It is certainly not a sport for wimps. I think people seem to have a stigma against men doing anything that is artistic, but there is absolutely no reasoning behind that and people with that attitude are idiots.

    Aw that's mean. I'm going through somewhat the same thing, but I'm a girl and everyone's always saying figure skating's not a sport and that it's "dancing around like an idiot on ice". But I'm Canadian so everyone's a hockey fan except me.

      +Lizzie Manchester Next time, challenge them to get on the ice in a pair of figure skates and to give what you do a try. If they aren't "man enough" to try it then you are the better person. :)

    And I told them your in a sweaty locker room full of guys and I am in a ice rink with gorgeous girls in short skirts , sequence and tight pants do the math
