That's why many of them don't become successful coaches and less famous players often become great coaches. For example, 3 guys from same team : Ancelotti , Van Basten and Gullit. Now, Ancelotti was a good player but not a star like Van Basten or Gullit, however compare what he achieved as a coach with them. Now , if it would be someone like Cruyff talking, that's a different story. Guy was not only a amazing player, but had also great understating of game of football. Only Rijkaard from Dutch trio had a great success as a coach , but it was short-lived and his career overall isn't on same level as Ancelotti

The true story is that prior to the game, he received a number of knee infiltrations, which if not properly injected can cause convulsions. There was a coverup from federation to protect the team doctor and medical staff. Seeing Ronaldo in that state before the gam shocked the entire team and that's why they didn't perform. Also if you watched the previous games, you'd have seen that team was never in great form and struggled hard vs Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, even Scotland.
