Yep, he's like an endless well of ideas (and Carl is a great guy too).
I met Carl IRL back in 2003 (?) when he was going by "Sir Millard Mulch." Trey was in town, and he invited me and Carl to lunch at Tu Lan (famous Vietnamese restaurant on the worst part of Sixth Street). I remember seeing a cockroach on the wall.... And I remember being quietly baffled/intrigued while listening to Mulch voice his appreciation for the likes of Creed and Michelle Branch...
As a younger but long time fan of Trey, this is just priceless! I've met him once or twice and am happy to still occasionally see some of the guys from Secret Chiefs around and in their various groups.. This fills in some gaps in the historical context of this sort of music for me - that I've had for over a decade.. Learning the history of all this and hearing some wonderful name drops of people and bands that I gravitated to over the years is just awesome.
