The correct way to place the cup is to use a 3:1 sand to cement mix 6 inches wide and deep around the cup and 6 inches of 1/2 to 3/4 rock under the cup for drainage. Also wiggle the cup in your mix as it can then be adjusted when grass is installed. Lower is better than higher when installing putting cup.
A cup through your compacted sub grade is making a weak area when it is stepped on after moisture.
KIDS are the true test as they will certainly jump up and down on the cup or place foreign objects in it loosening and creating a putting surface issue.
Nice job on remainder of installation.

There’s a patio cover gutter downspout that drains on to the level artificial turf. There’s no place for the water to go except to the putting green that’s slightly lower. You should gave added extra drainage pipes to the side yard. Luckily, it doesn’t rain much in California.

I know this is old, but may i make a few suggestions? To get a realistic putting green I'd recommend having a way to set the cups set 1" below putting surface. I know it's just a practice green so it doesn't really matter, but for me it would take that green to the next level. Also I wouldn't want it perfectly level, I'd want a small grade here or there

Question - I would like to have an elevated area on my putting green 34’ x 15’ I notice this did create a couple small wrinkles near the point of elevation. Do you have a video that shows how to remove wrinkles from a putting green? This video shows a few nails on the far side of the putting green that are removed as you position the rough edge by the home with the green edge. Your video offers fantastic detail. Thank you!

I have my artificial turf around my car pad… it’s hold all sorts of maltreatment from getting ran over to the extreme Tampa Bay weather… and it’s as solid and anchored as deep rooted sod, not one budge (including the occasional mole trying to find its way out) I highly recommend artificial turf! -and I installed it myself! Just to note, florida has no real soil, it’s all corse dark sand, I thought that in time the nails would pop out… they haven’t!

Hi, this is the first video I watched about installing this kind of turf. I’ve never done it before but I have been installing carpet over 30 years. Obviously, there’s a big difference, but also a lot of similarities. When you overlap, two pieces of carpet and cut through them, both, you run the risk of cutting the material “short”. In this case, I will call them blades of grass. So if you cut a bunch of them short, when it matches up to the full length blades, it will show a bit of a valley in the seam. Therefore, making it noticeable. FYI 👍🏼
