- Reviewing the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G, with an unboxing of this value smartphone, camera test, gaming, battery life and more. The Samsung A34 5G is just £300 in the UK right now, making it one of the best phones at this price. It's cheaper than the Pixel 7a, Galaxy A54 and other rivals, and I enjoyed testing it this past week.
The Galaxy A34 5G boasts a similar software setup to the S23 flagship smartphones, with OneUI 5 adding all of Samsung's usual mobile services. That camera isn't as good in low light vs the A54, but it's still fine for everyday photos and video. And gamers can also enjoy a bit of Genshin Impact, on low detail settings - but the Mediatek chipset can't keep everything smooth all of the time.
Battery life is a highlight of the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G, giving all day play even with plenty of camera action. And that AMOLED screen is a bit of a stunner, even if it didn't support HDR streaming on Netflix. Visuals are bright and poppy, with a stereo speaker setup (but no headphone jack).

Samsung's budget smartphones have undoubtedly improved. I still recall when the first A-series was introduced, and I purchased one of the initial models. It was truly disappointing back then. However, it's remarkable to witness the significant value they now offer in budget devices.
Eyey, I had the 2016 A5, for the time impeccable for the money.
The A50 after that was a complete disappointment. And ignoring that tech can't get any worse after every generation, the progress on the a5x models have been super bad.
Nothing and Google can offer wireless charging and a metal frame for 500 bucks, why can't Samsung. Especially considering that the a5 from 2016 was built that way.
It all got good when they added an extra 0 to the numbers. Still rocking the A50 after 4 years. No issues besides the shorter battery life but that much is expected.
@dmmpg I have the a32 4g and it lags like crazy but I'm heavily Multitasking. How does yours perform?

I bought the a34 £299 model with 256 gig. I've used it a couple of weeks now and I've grown to like it even though the build quality feels budget in comparison to my old a52.
my A52 is broken and im looking at A34 as well. in my country 256gb is 380$ :((

I bought the a34 256gb in awesome black. I am very satisfied with it all including the performance. I haven't done much gaming though.
I too have this phone. The thing is i am unable to disable video stabilization when recording fhd 60 video. It looks zoomed in. Do you also have this issue?
The reason why it does that is because when you choose UHD, it uses the whole sensor. When you choose FHD, it's a little more cropped in as you changed to a lower resolution which means that less of the 48 MP sensor is used and when you use HD, it's even more cropped in.
@@dylanfortuin4518 no it doesnt do like that. Uhd 30 and fhd 30 is same. They both doesnt get cropped. Its only fhd 60 that gets cropped.

Upgraded to this phone from my a71 3 weeks ago. It's an amazing all rounder phone. To those who says that the notch is ugly and outdated, you won't even notice it much after a while unlike the huge notch iphone! Personally it's a better deal than the a54 if you want to save some bucks.

A good mid-range Samsung phone to have for the price. Fast internet, good camera, quality sound system, good battery. It is also very smooth when playing heavy games even with high settings. It provides value satisfaction when using it
Just upgraded from the Redmi note 10 to the A34 128GB Lime model. Feeling great
I've just bought an A34 5G. In many ways it's better than my Pixel 6a. Better display, 120 Hz refresh, bigger battery and charges a little faster. And it's also got face ID. No wireless charging, but the A devices never do.
The Pixel feels and looks more premium and has better, fuller sounding audio though. And of course, the Pixel has the awesum call screen feature. Excellent value the A34.

The Pixel is also wayyy smoother and wayy more powerfull. My a34 5g is a mess. Its buggy, it lags a lot and it lags in picture in picture mode, wich is really annoying. The Pixel have no problems whatsoever with any multitasking, picture in picture, games, and so on. Im sorry but for me, having the Samsung a34 5g, id say its no match for the pixel 6a. And especially not in pictures and videos.

Man, back in the day Samsung Pay was the best. My Galaxy S10 had MST and I loved watching the people at the store’s faces when they said they didn’t have any of the NFC based payment systems and I paid with my phone anyways
The only thing this phone won't use Samsung Pay but I bet the A54 does. I have the A34 and tried to install Samsung Wallet aka Pay, and said phone doesn't support Samsung Pay.
I just use Google Pay.

Maybe turn your location on and try to download it cause at first I couldn't use the Samsung Store cause it thought I was in another country until I turned my location on and updated my phone. Now I can use the galaxy store and NFC payments.

@@idk-yq4bf I am really satisfied with the purchase. If you want all rounded smartphone with average camera, great battery life and display and you are not a huge gamer then go for it. I bought it in discount, at that moment it is a no brainer. I bought it mainly for the software support, I but I am little bit skeptical about that.

how many hours does it last (screen time)?
that's my phoneeee, i got in lime green and i love it. i use to have a really old phone ( galaxy j8) so for me the notch was great, it was after watching youtubers that i realized this is an old notch type, still i don't mind i saw the a14 and a25 and those are really massive notch compare to mine. i saw many spanish comparisons about the a54 and a34 ( that one from isa marcial specifically) and it was great to realize i got the best option. i wish big english channels like markes brownlee saw this phone but i guess is low budget for them
btw there's some things that can help a34 users.
you can turn off the fingerprint animation and it will work faster.
You can run between apps faster by sliding your finger to the side below where you switch apps
Using a34 5g for a year ... still great sturdy body, good battery life and screen is perfect mostly thanks to guerrilla glass ... gaming is silky smooth still

Can you please try taking some photos with flash in low light/dark room? I have the A34 and I'm so annoyed by the fact that the flash seems out of sync with the shutter - the flash fires a few milliseconds before the shutter and almost all flash photos turn out dark (some even darker than without the flash!). I'm seriously considering returning this phone.
I miss the a7x series this year from samsung, it offered a big screen and reasonable specs for the price (still high compared to competitors), however, it seems m54 is like a replacement for the a7x series this year. It offers a notcheless display, and a big screen. enough for my media consumption (i do 12+ hours screen on time)

Seeking a new phone after my Samsung A71 last month give me this white line... what a time it also already end their softwarr for this model... I guess getting A34 would be a good move since Im only watching video and blasting music.. while gaming I prefer those idle, strategy game.. i guess this is a good phone for someone who not really into working with high digital tech

Watching this on my A34 5G and i must say this is really a bang for your buck phone! Only the lack of adaptive refresh rate and slower charging speeds are the downside. But for the price and the 4 Android updates and 5 yrs of security patches, you can squeeze everything you can and then some more out of this phone. Black and purple are the only colors in my country so I took the purple instead and slapped a case on.

I just ordered myself one in awesome lime as an upgrade to my moto g82. I just wish phones these days have the amazing rage of colours of the Nokia lumias. I had a Nokia Lumia 1520 for 7 years in white. And my friend had the 🟡 one. I love the 🔵 🔴🟢 colours. They were so vibrant. Hopefully I'll like the awesome lime.
Yes camera shutter speed is slow. Don't like the fact it hasn't got a notification light which I had on my previous couple of Galaxy Notes and I find it hard to pull down from the top of the screen to see notifications. Often opens up apps instead. Maybe because I'm using a Cygnet clear case which has a raised edge to protect the screen if dropped. Apart from that I'm very happy with it and love the screen size that's why I chose the A34 over the A54.

Samsung should have also slapped the Dimensity 1080 in the A54. It could have been a better mid-ranger.
Agree, I have samsung, but it is not exynos. But based on so many people who are aware and intolerant about the performance, they have pretty bad experiences with it. Which is a downgrade. A54 5g's chipsit, which is exynos, is the only one bad.
is the 1080 better than the exynos1380?
@Daniel don't be confused about which number is higher. Exynos and dimensity have pretty far in common.

But if the a54 is slower it's not because of the cpu, its the lack of optimization.
@@Daniel-dj7fhthey are basically the same. Due to past experience, I think the exynos one would probably drain battery faster. Mediatek has a small edge in the single core benchmark scores and exynos has a small edge over the mediatek in multicore benchmark score. You won't notice a difference between the two in a real life scenario though.
