  • Hello again. This video will show you how the change the key battery in this 2019 VW Golf proximity key. This type of key is also used on the Seat Cupra and will be used on other models also.
    The key battery you need is a CR2032
    Be careful when removing the cover simply because when we did, a piece of the spring arrangement on the 2019 VW Golf key was loose and fell out! This problem is explained in detail in case it happens to you.

    So helpful, thank you. I had my Octavia serviced yesterday at a dealership and they weren't able to repair the key. Claimed only option was using sticky tape or paying £400 for a new key. Ridiculous.

    Super helpful video. My rental car in Ireland had a warning to replace the key fob battery soon. Not only did the video teach me how to open the fob, but also how to put the spring that went flying out of the fob back into place.

    Hello and thank you for your valuable videos.
    Just a question: is it possible to turn off these kinds of keys (with a switch or a special sequence) so that they do not emit RF?
    This might be a good solution to avoid key cloning around and constant dependency on these useless Faraday pouches on the market.
    Thank you in advance.

    An issue I've found with these fobs is that when the battery has been changed, the cover never clips snugly back into place, so there is always a slight gap at one end, so it just comes off again far too easily. VW have thought about an interesting shape for the fob, but they should've put the same amount of thought into the construction and the quality. Cutting costs, but still increasing the price of their cars.

    any chance of showing how to change a dacia fixed key into a flip key?

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Brian
      Sorry I don't do this, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the fixed blade keys are pretty good, even if the blades do stick out a bit.
      The other thing is that Dacia don't sell a kit to convert these, and if you can get one it will need to be off eBay.
      Some of these kits are truly terrible. I'm called out regularly to a customer who has prevuously converted a key into a folding case, only for it to fall to pieces and the chip get lost.
      So my advice is just leave it as it is.
