My dad was huge into the usual dad rock but he LOVED Koyaanisqatsi, I've heard this so many times growing up it's insane. Now I keep coming back to it
Heard this in the big 80's and have never forgotten it, it has stayed with me all this time and the world has gotten to be even more out of balance.
Music to open the floodgates of your eyes and soul. The universe flows within and without of you, all hopes, desires, and pains felt. A piece for the ages.
My gym jam, reading, Christmas, Halloween, meditation, studying, & pretty much anywhere & anytime!
Listening to this at work and I honestly think I had an out of body experience.
You did.
I've loved this movie and the soundtrack and was glad to hear it used at the end of the most recent stranger things season.
It took me nine minutes, and it hit me that the singer was saying Kooyaniqatsi in a Gregorian Chant!
I saw the unforgettable movie when it came out and this composition is something that never leaves your head.
I have terrified countless kids at Halloween by having this playing in the background while handing out candy.
ah those kids clearly lack taste in music!
If that isn't a testament to Philip Glass' musical skills I don't know what is!
Th F was the yyyyygg gf😂f go

I did the same for a haunted basement event my family did each year. I dressed as a plague doctor and the neighborhood kids would explore my lab which was just my parents basement that I decorated with an old table some desks, those fake walls I found to devide the place into a maze, and a lot of fake body parts. Also I was stalking the maze doing mad scientist stuff while they would hid and try to get all the way through without getting caught. It was fun, and my sister got to be the cool kid at school after that. Had this play on all the speakers in there. Also had some other stuff I put all over the place to get that evil laboratory feel. It was fun.
Since I've heard and saw Koyaanisqatsi for the first time, around the early 2000s, I've had the music stuck in my head, every day. I know tomorrow the organ will wake me up.

Yes, love it. A meditation
I saw the haunting but very interesting, beautiful, hypnotic, trippy & atmospheric documentary "Koyaanisqatsi" (1982) itself this past June & I LOVED it allot & have been so obsessed with it! Especially the theme song! I LOVE the sound of Albert de Ruiter's solo bass vocals on the theme song. It's a very haunting, kind of spooky but in a good way voice but also super fabulous voice. I wonder where, when & how Philip Glass got a hold of Albert de Ruiter. Because he's talented & gifted. I also LOVE his musical work he did on Walt Disney's "Beauty & The Beast" (1991) & Walt Disney's "Pocahontas" (1995). Gee I wonder whatever happened to him & what Albert has been doing now in the past 14 years. I also wonder how old he is now & if he's still singing. I hope he's not retired.
I remember absolutely tripping out on mushrooms to this movie. Had to be 1997. I think I even cried lol.
Hallo
@nothing back I didn’t grow the ones from back then. I’ve grown them since however. Turned out to be less powerful and short acting, but they worked.
@nothing back why?
@nothing back a circle?
According to Hopi Dictionary: Hopìikwa Lavàytutuveni, the Hopi word koyaanisqatsi (Hopi pronunciation: [kojɑːnisˈqɑtsi]) is defined as "life of moral corruption and turmoil" or "life out of balance".[
This has got the same vibe as the Interstellar black hole theme but with no need for visuals and it came 30 years earlier
Interstellar theme was inspired by it
They are both Minimalist compositions. Max Richter, Philip Glass, Ludovico Einaudi, Hans Zimmer, Steve Reich, are all Minimalist composers.
Sounds Awesome!! Thank you very much

@Patrick Bennett would it be difficult to edit this without vocals?
I don't know... Do you mean to edit out the parts with vocals, or extract the vocals from the music? The latter may not sound very good.
@@patrickbennettedits I meant to cut out parts with vocals and replacing them with parts with the same melody but without vocals. I tried to do this myself and I think I can do it. Thanks for your answer.

@@patrickbennettedits thanks, man. Great job!
Is there a shorter extended version? This is great but a little too long.
It's a bit like the music for The Shining...staring Jack Nicholson!
В Сиянии звучала музыка Кшиштофа Пендерецкого ( Krzysztof Penderecki 1933 -2020)
And a fairly passing connection to the 'orgy' music to another Kubrick film, Eyes Wide Shut, at least the nature of a building mantra-ic theme with organ and Gregorian tonality.
"last race"
thats my shit thanks

Errm please hope all listening know this is 1970 warning of GLOBAL WARMING
Threat of global warming is uncertain, excess consumerism is.
The climate change was only part of the fear porn. To the Pueblos. Koyaanisqatsi means 'world out of balance'
Philip Glass is a huge Jew.
