"Live It Up" - The Sound Collaboration in Tribute to Greedy Smith (Mental As Anything)

- This week I was on a TV show on the ABC in Australia, singing one of Greedy’s songs as part of a tribute to him. He’s been gone for a little while now. I’ve known Greedy for almost 40 years. We toured the US together in 1982. We also toured Australia together in 2017. I got to know him better then. He would come into my dressing room and talk about people and things I hadn’t thought about for years. We would drink tea. Occasionally we would get teary. He remembered everything, and everyone.
Everyone will remember him for a long time, he is well worth remembering, he brought pure joy into the world, and made it a better place.
Since that tour, he would text me periodically, seemingly always on the way to a gig in Penrith, or leaving it, heading down the hill. I was unprepared for his passing, for how much I think of him, and how much I miss him. Lovely man.

It's sort of the feel-good song of all time. I saw the Mentals perform many times in Australian pubs and am very sad that they have gone forever.
Every Mentals gig was like a party that we were lucky enough to be invited to. My fave was early 80s at Castle Hill RSL, (north west Sydney) they did multiple encores and the last was after the house lights came on and we had begun to file out. People jumped on stage to dance with them, but it wasn’t chaotic, it was pure fun and happiness. What an era in Aussie pub rock. Thank you for this.

@@48tilt I'm an Aussie, I get that the Kiwi inferiority complex is slightly annoying sometimes (as I'm sure we Aussies are annoying to Kiwi's) but for effs sake, give the guy a break? He was expressing his connection to the band in order to express his condolences. I am proud of our Anzac tradition and connection, and I am proud of the Kiwi's when they do well. Good on them. Thanks for contributing the Doherty bros to Mental as Anything. Just like we contributed half of Crowded House and gestated them in Melbourne. Still an NZ band.

Cats and Dogs vs Buisness as Usual. It was a very good year for Oz music. The rest of the world did not know what hit them when MAW finally broke through internationally and then Mentals followed a couple of years later with this Greedy classic. Touching tribute. Thank you

This should be a single release, at least for the other streaming services so that everyone can hear how great this song is and what also be nice for Greedy’s memory. Nice one Collin Hay . Mentals were such a great band .. I worked hard on getting the lighting right for them ** LIVE IT UP TOUR** . Greedy used to get a ride in the the crew car a lot when we were in Sidney as he just wanted to get to the gig first and set his key board up some where until the crew were ready for him to come on stage ..
