A perfect example of how sometimes less is more when it comes to cool riffs and basslines
Sixx aint technical but his shit always works 🤙🏻
Awesome job !
i never relabeled how simple his bass lines are
still giving me a hard time lol
Nikki's bass lines started off pretty simple with catchy hooks, but, once he changed his focus to playing bass instead of playing with needles his playing started to get really interesting. Listen to the bass lines in SixxAM's Life is Beautiful or a recent live version of any old Motley classic. He changed the bass parts on a lot of the old songs to match how his playing style has changed, a little more complicated, musically interesting, but most importantly cool to hear.
a good example of what I'm talking about and what I always tell the "Nikki can't play bass" crowd is to listen to the original version of Home Sweet Home followed by Home Sweet Home '91, Home Sweet Home (with Chester Beddington sharing lead vocals and done for Hurricane Katrina benefit), and end it with Home Sweet Home "live from cruefest"...you'll hear Nikki's progression as a player and the band's as well. Mick Mars' playing on the Katrina version is pure ear candy! Sadly, Chester Beddington was probably the only singer who could have taken over from Vince and they'd still be able to call themselves MC. Listen to him and decide for yourself.
Anybody can play bass
@@brandonvandelden7972 Oh really? Try playing some Victor Wooten and lets see how well you do.
Its only simple in its structure. Nikki Sixx is not a Bass protégée by any standards, but his Bass lines are very instinctual on how it punctuates the right moments in a song, in time with Tommy Lee (especially Tommy's heavy signature foot work). I can't tell if that is because Nikki has good instincts as a bass player/song writer, or that he was aided by Mick Mars. But its a well written Bass line for what it does compared to other stuff you'd hear from other bands of that Genre. By itself, its nothing special. When you hear it in the final mix, you'll see how it punctuates the song at just the right moments.
I'm a guitar player and I love playing along to your covers! Keep rockin'
Just joined a Motley Crue tribute band and leaned a lot from this channel! Great playing very accurate and very solid! Thank you! Keep kicking them in the ass bro!!!
Tributes and covers are totally different animals in a tribute you have to be "Nikki Sixx" and that means an on stage presence like he's got. In a cover band you just have to play the notes. Honestly I would not take a gig with a tribute band. It seems like a lot of fun but I don't know if I could be someone else? In a cover you can screw up but in a tribute you better get it all right because you don't get gigs for your own band... you are getting gigs for whatever band you are emulating. One Motley Ctue tribute band on You Tube is The Crue. But perfection... Mick is too tall. People notice.
My fiancé is also in a Motley Crue tribute band! What’s yalls band’s name? Ours is Mötley Krüe - A Tribute To The World’s Most Notorious Band
Niki bass playing style ...its really cool laid back grooves!!!!
I'm obsessed with this song and I love this cover❤️ Rock n roll 🤟
Great job. glad you made some great learning videos, doing Rock songs from the 80's is the perfect example of rhythm, with out super over complicated fills.
thank you. If you wanna support give us a follow on Instagram. Thanks for stopping by.
Nikki was simple.
The brain .
Bass lines r just what's needed .. n pretty thumping. .
No Steve Harris or Geddy Lee stuff here... Thank u nikki for that..
And thank u for putting the tabs in der. . Realllllllly appreciate it
Bass playing is about the song. It is a question of what band you are in. We say, the bass is king and like a king he acts. Motley was a four piece band, where guitar and bass were linked together. It is commonly told that Mick's guitar is the most recognizable ingredient to their music. That is wrong! It is actually Vince Neil's voice! Nikki and Mick are underlining his vocals, with Tommy driving the thing in typicall 1,2,3,4, manner. When you listen to Queen, you will find that John Deacon's playing is very much linked to Mercury's vocal and piano parts. When it comes to guitar solos, Deacon switches to support May, before he returns to basics. With Rush, it is a whole different story. Same with Maiden. You cannot put Motley, Rush and Maiden in comparision, man. That is pure ignorance!
That tuning!
Man you rock! Great job
Great cover. I learn alot of songs from your channel and thank you for doing motley crue now. There isnt much out there to learn those songs so I was happy to see you doing them. Hope to see more
Cheers. If you want to support give us a follow on Instagram. Thanks for stopping by
Absolutely solid playing
More crue!!! Awesome dude
I love having the bass louder than anything else, especially when its really good. So when I like a bass line I look these up and listen that way.
SOLID BRO! SOLID! thanks for the lessons!
Kick Start my Heart!
Awesome. Beautiful
me encanta ese sonido del jazz bass y con esa cancion suena increible
I know I’m asking in all your videos but I really wanna know how to play Goin Blind!
Very glad I found your channel, this is frickin well put together x
Paul plays very well😊
Tremendo espectacular felicitaciones
Sos un ídolo por subir las tablaturas al tiempo en vivo de la canción
Great bassline and great cover! Thanks for tabs man! ✌
To get the max of both worlds..
See these awesome videos and songsterr...
Songsterr is spot on but use both tabs for a fuller experience... It will help you as a bass player..
Play both parts n keep switching in between...
Keeps the mind and fingers busy...
My 9 month old nephew plays this flawlessly 😅
Thank god he was a decent song writer.
I see what you did there....lol
Thanks for this mate, it’s great. I used it to play this tune at a show last night. You keep it simple but effective so well done! 😊👍
😈🤘🍻🤘😈 Muy buen trabajo...
Good job man !!
excelente
Sos un genio!!!
me, watching this bass cover even tho i don't have bass, only guitar lmao. hope i get it one day
🤩🤩
It's probably just me but whenever I hear a song I can never pick up the bass but this sounds cool
Ya, because he's that bad of a player that they essentially mute him
I did that on guitar
Seems petty simple. Ty
the main riff is played wrong. it's not chromatic
Feel like those F and Bb’s shouldn’t be there
Shane Sperling For sure
Good cover, but i don't think they hit the 1st fret of E/A string in the verse riff
What type of pick do you use?
Good job, I covered this one on my channel as well. We interpret it differently but I enjoyed yours.
What tuning ?
Hola qué modelo y marca es el bajo saludos
In this video I'm playing a 2001 US fender jazz!
Paul Del Bello active or pasive nice bass !!! 👍👍

@@PaulDelBelloYT you on FB?
Yes links in the description
What bass do you use
This is a 2001 US Fender Jazz. Thanks for stopping by.
D tuning or E tuning??????? At first you say D but on the whole song it says E tuning
I know right, hes playing d standard but staff says E standard?
That represents the strings he's playing on, not the tuning.
Good thing about Motley Crue bass lines is that they are all ez bc Nikki wasn’t the best lol. Hell of a songwriter.
Dont forget they made songs in 80's
tuned a snitch too high
Doesn't a bass sound so sweet ... when it's actually tuned to the proper dropped D - sounds like a dog's breakfast in standard E AD G tuning
Kezza73 based on the tab, the bass isn’t tuned to dropped D, the tab is showing standard tuning.
@@bentleymurphree216 Um not quite - it's D tuning at the start of the vid. The Crue played most of their songs tuned down a full step. EADG refers to the strings
Kezza73 my mistake, I must of missed the very beginning of the video, where it clearly stated tuning was in D.
@@bentleymurphree216 All good. I downloaded the Fender tuning app on my phone - life instantly made easier.
so boring ;D
Sanoo stratomies :D
me feo se escucha tu bajo
Man you rock! Great job
