    Wish S&W would put a true 3" barrel on this model with the round butt frame. In a belt holster it would be no more difficult to conceal. Thanks for the video.

      At one time they may have made the model 351 in a 3 inch Kit Gun configuration. Don`t remember for sure. Right now I think they just make it in the 351PD and 351C configurations.

    They are lightweight but cost quite a bit too! I do own one and like it, but some folks may not be willing to shell out the hefty price for a 22 wmr. Nice video!

      I lucked out on this one. Local shop was trying to keep inventory and cash flow moving last year. Got this one and a new model 317 below dealer cost.

    It looks like it may have recessed chambers like the old guns. If so, that’s a nice feature

      @1957Shep Před měsícem +1

      All S&W rimfires have recessed chambers. Back in the early 80s they did away with recessed chambers on centerfire revolvers, but they kept that feature on the rimfires.

    You don't realize how difficult it is to find a snub-nosed .22 Magnum revolver at your LGS until you're in the market for one. I found my 351PD at Bud's in their used handgun section. I hate how expensive this revolver is and I don't understand why it cost as much as it does. I got tired of trying to find one so I bought it anyway to end my exhaustive search. It is now my new hiking carry gun. I can't believe how light weight it is. Thanks for the video!

    What is made out of aluminum and what is made out of steel? The barrel is obviously made out of steel but is the barrel steel, aluminum, scandium or titanium?

    • @1957Shep
      @1957Shep Před měsícem +2

      Barrel liner is steel, barrel shroud is aluminum alloy. The contact moving parts like the hammer, trigger, sear, hand, locking lug and cylinder star are steel. Just about everything else is an aluminum alloy including the cylinder.

    22 magnum it's not allowed here in handguns,but I think you can fell it's magnum. Have never tried one,have had a s&w model m48 but only in 22LR .

      22 Magnum has a little more than twice the power of 22LR in a rifle length barrel. But the difference is a lot less pronounced in a short barrel.

      @1957Shep Před měsícem

      @@kimpedersen7100 The model 48 is identical to the model 17 and 18 except in 22 magnum instead of 22LR.
      The model 53 is similar to the model 17, but chambered in 22 Remington Jet. Some had extra 22LR cylinders and/or inserts for 22LR. Also had a shrouded ejector rod which the 17, 18, and 48 did not.
      It had 2 frame mounted firing pins, one for rimfire, one for centerfire. There is a pivot on the face of the hammer to select which firing pin is struck by the hammer.
      The little model 51 is built on the J Frame in 22 Magnum. Some had extra cylinders for 22LR. Pretty much the same gun as the model 34 Kit Gun, but most had a 3 1/2 inch barrel instead of the 2 or 4 inch barrel you see on the model 34.
      The models 48, 51, and 53 were never made in large numbers.

    • @1957Shep
      @1957Shep Před 25 dny +1

      No. I assume you mean having fired brass stuck in the chamber. If you have that problem in a rimfire the most likely cause is either it is badly fouled and needs the chambers cleaned or the chamber/chambers are rough or damaged.
      Or it can be a sign that the ammo you are using is too high pressure for the gun.

    They can make THIS but cannot seem to grasp why a 5" J-Frame adjustable sight seven shot .22 magnum revolver would make a dandy woods and field gun that actually maximizes the .22 Mag potential in a lightweight handgun. But go on S&W. Keep making clones of Kel-Tecs. Doh.
