I know nothing about lures and airbrushing. I found this video by accident. I really enjoyed watching your video!

Great video Frank. Fantastic paint job as usual, and some helpfull tips. I like the scratch sticks for helping with the distressed look, good idea

Hi Frank, this is a pretty delayed comment for this video but Vallejo makes a product called “chipping medium” especially for the effect your doing by scratching the paint. I’m new to lure painting and learning so much watching all your videos. Have a great day.

Killer bait and great video explaining your techniques. Years ago Ken from Badger Airbrush helped me pronounce their primer when I met him at the model train expo. He explained it’s a combination of the surfaces styrene, vinyl, and resin. Sty-nyl-rez. Looking at the name still hurts my brain.
    Keep putting out awesome content!

@@customlurepainter I’ve been using Stynylrez Primer on WWII miniatures and love it. I just purchased a few of the auto bourne sealers for painting lures. I’m still a rookie and your videos are a huge help!

Try the dry rust from the special effects box. It works great with the rust you already have.

I do like the pattern on the baits, I haven’t tried one, but it’s on my list! Have you ever caught a fish on one of these?

Hey Mark, I use a PS 290 Creos trigger gun .5, very easy to spray thick sealers with.

I must not be using the same sealer, my paint has a tremendous amount of metal flakes in it, for my base coats, I use a Paasche type H, with a bowl, with a #3 nozzle, .66mm, the paint I have can plug the airbrush, now I use a #5 nozzle, it’s a 1mm nozzle and works great. The 2nd issue is the metal flakes fall out of solution really fast, if you put paint in the bowl you better use it up fast, if you set it down the metal flakes will settle out and throw slugs of metal out.
My paint will plug a .5mm in a heartbeat!

    • @customlurepainter

It’s a small detail brush, you can get at hobby lobby, if your not comfortable painting your dots with your airbrush, the little brush will come in handy.
