This music makes city planning, budgeting and politics feel heroic
It actually is kinda heroic
if you didn't fall for corruption like my city's government people, then yeah its pretty heroic.
this music is one of my inspirations that i chose to learn economics and city planing

If there's something Maxis can be proud of, asides from the earlier SimCity series, that's their music team. Every single SimCity game that came out had awesome soundtracks.
Ironically, the original SimCity lacked an OST, and it was up to Nintendo to make sure that it had one when they made their version of the game. I also kind of wished that there were some hidden OSTs to this game that had those songs on it, but, given the reputations of EA and Nintendo, and the fact that Will Wright is also kind of an egotistical d

Some of the best ambient music in a game right here.
i would say classical
@@OfficialAbass How is this classical
I agree! It's a really pleasant mix of music!
@@bloison it's about as classical as it is ambient to be fair.

I actually sort of liked this game for what it was. The soundtrack especially, gives me huge nostalgia.
If only EA hadn't wasted their time destroying Maxis.
they wasted their time destroying Maxis like I did trying to understand the shopper mechanics of this game. XD
nostalgia is real
In Aldaris Voice: "We require additional medium/high wealth shoppers!"
It wasn't EA who destroyed Maxis... it was the Shadowman. If only he hadn't picked up the Summoning Key the children would have been safe...
Nostalgia? The game was only 4 years old at the time of the comment lol..
It is amazing how the music makes it seem that your city is evolving gracefully
and the graphic too
So true :)
It is.

Still better than other city sims from the Online-basis resource sharing aspect, however. I play online with friends everyday, even now as I'm writing this.

I actually think SimCity 2013 is a pretty darn addictive game. Small maps aside, if the game didn't have a shaky launch (whereby reviewers actually changed scores due to launch issues which are no longer present, like Polygon changing from 9.5 to much much lower), then the game would have probably done a lot better.
Cities skylines
TheCoolKelvin yes!!!
Skylines is great fun and I love the map size and water simulation. Although, I still like SimCity and they're both good at different things. SimCity's UI, graphics, soundtrack and *some* of its tools are superior (Because it had a bigger budget) but Skylines has amazing map sizes, awesome simulation, fun transport options and steam workshop which is phenomenal.
If only they could be combined, to make the true follow up of simcity 4...
Skylines has complete mod support, if you don't like something, change it yourself, win/win.
Listening to this soundtrack makes me want to play Simcity again even despite all of its disadvantages. Especially while listening to 19:33, it’s my favourite part ❤️
SimCity had amazing graphics, OST and my sims telling me as the mayor how happy their lives were. But it has been a long time since this game died and now it's just a game that was the step into creating Cities Skylines and SimCity Buildit. SimCity Buildit is a P2W mobile game but it had features that FIXED SimCity 2013's problems. Expanding map, multiple updates each every few months, the map only belongs to yourself (single player), and no other players needed to grow your city.
Perfect for late night essays, this track has saved my ass 3 times now!
Do you have any other suggestions for soundtracks like this one? It helps me studying.

This soundtrack compared to the Sim City 4 soundtrack is so different! In Sim City 4 you have a mixed variety of music that ranges from Bohemian to Electronic to Orchestrated that made you feel that your city was majestic but also had culture in a sense. In this soundtrack all you have is beautifully majestic Orchestrated music that reminds you of a peaceful thriving city.
I plan to run this in the background while I play Cities Skylines.
Samuel Schueller There is actually a mod for Cities: Skylines that you can actually put the music in-game so it is dynamic like the songs from SimCity where as if you have a small city, then it plays this music, or if you have a large city then it would play that music instead. It is called the CSL Music Mod.
Playing hours of the game with this soundtrack, never get bored.
It’s the only game where you feel like a proud parent and friends with the city
The nostalgia hit is insane
The music EA makes for their games is pretty damn good, but the Sim City tracks and Sims tracks have always been absolutely outstanding. :D
LOVE YOU, EA ORCHESTRAS!
So its official...
this game is 10 years old, same goes to simcity 4 that is 20 years old, and simcity 2000 which is 30 years old.
But memories for Simcity 2013 i have very great, it was my first computer game that i played because i was before playing only on playstation, but thanks to this game... it made me PC gamer.
This game made me like so much city building games that i will never forget how much it changed me.
Now i will be 21 years old and still someday i come back, to play this game...
yeah it wasn't perfect, but i enjoy it a lot. Mainly i enjoy Cities of tommorow dlc..
This game series changed a lot of city building games. Sadly this king of this genre has falled.... but it has succesor, and that is cities skylines.
Now after announcement of cities skylines 2, i hope workers from Maxis and Will Wright will join to this studio.
For me, the track 04 ''The Long Construction'' got the spirit of simcity, the essence of what simcity was and could be, Its part of my and the nostalgia that envolves it's magic and inspiring, just like this song, just like simcity :'{
Simcity has better soundtracks in my opinion ,comapred to Cites Skylines :).
***** that is true, and the SteamWorkshop just made it better.downloading tons of mods until my computer processor cant handle it haha.
+Conspiracy04 Listening to This soundtrack while playing skylines ! :D
+Conspiracy04 Skylines has garbage music but awesome gameplay. It's the polar opposite of this game in both regards.
Your picture of you is really good. The combination of colors is very clear, and easy on the eyes.
Nice job.
well yes, in general art content of simcity is better because is made by bigger team of artists with AAA budget, however in other hand we have small team of dedicated and enthusiastic people who crafted one of the best city simulation gameplay and they delivered right (Skyline).
But yes, If we had art and graphic of SC5 and gamplay of Skylines in one game, I would call that game masterpiece.
There's something very spectacular about the skyline of a city. This music perfectly draws that image. I could listen to this for hours.
Man 8 years time flies without notice
The game is not bad, I enjoy it very much
So say the game is good. When you say the game is "not bad" it has somewhat of a negative connotation to it.
i agree, it's not bad. sim city isn't my cup of tea but the music, surprisingly, will do.
The music is really good. I have always been a fan of the music.
eh, I like simcity 4 music. Or 2000
I agree, the graphics, music, and overall feeling of the game is great. There are some things though, that could be improved
I think all of us should go back and replay the game, I bought it in 2014 after I had confirmation that the game was no longer plagued with problems, and I was actually impressed, then I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and I turned the graphics up and the game is just beautiful.
Love the game or hate it, this game has some of the most inspiring scores I've ever heard, period.
The entire soundtrack is a tribute to Koyaanisqatsi by Philip Glass.
SimCity was released on Windows from March 6 to March 8 2013.
It uses a modified Spore engine, using RenderWare as a backend for drawing, and a custom engine called GlassBox for city simulation. It uses Javascript as a scripting language. The servers run on Amazon S3, and are still running today.
The game is most famous for its disastrous launch, as it required a stable connection to the servers, which were only load tested to a fraction of the player base at launch.
The last update posted to the SimCity blog was on August 5th, 2014, titled "THE SIMCITY FREE TRIAL IS NOW AVAILABLE."
This game directly led to EA closing Maxis's primary location in Emeryville, California, on March 4, 2015.
One of the best Video Game Sountracks ever created.

"there isn't a piano solo"

Track 6 is the zombie track
The perfect thing about the music from every Sims and Sim City game is just, how neutral it is. A lot of it is modal, and doesn't really have the chord progressions that we tend to associate with "sad" or "happy" music. And it's theme doesn't really imply anything other than "This city has potential". This soundtrack would be perfect for a utopia and a dystopia. It really takes true skill to compose for plotless, creativity games, and this soundtrack does it the best.
Exactly
I love that feeling when you are building your city and the music fits from what you are doing, since beginning until you get a prospering city. Very dramatic and epic. I liked this game even with those bad critics, it was one of the first games I played of this genre. I think it is a very good one to begin with. The OST it is its best part.
1:42:58 incredible...
Things i miss when playing cities skylines was this music, exports imports between regions, selling unused utilities service, building upgrades, great work, and most importantly there once was a multiplayer
haven't played the game but i love the soundtrack!!
The game is so much better than at release so don't believe what people say about it

42:14 - A very fitting piece to these monuments of human engineering, skyscrapers. These steel products of modern capitalism have brought us closer to the gods than any temple or church before them ever could. May they stand forever, like a great artificial mountain chain, for our children to marvel at. And when they stand there gazing in awe as we look upon the Andes, their parents will be able to say…
“We made that…”
The only good thing about Simcity 5
+Dominik Spilka I would say not even this is that good. It does not live up to sim city 4 or any of the really good soundtracks out there.
THR333Sync it was really just a relative scale, if you were to order all things in Simcity 5 based on how good they were, this would be close to the top.
+THR333Sync I have to say I don't like all the other music of SimCity (3,4) but 5 was... wow.
I guess sind people just say that the sc4 music was better because they played it that much and heard the Musik for months xD
+TimTube Nah, I love Simcity 4's music. It is a really nice jazzy-electronic music that just works so well IMO. I wish I knew some other bands or DJs (or whatever you'd call them) that make similar music to Simcity 4's.
I think that is unfair. There was a lot of good there. A good art style. The road system was definitely a huge evolution for city builders. The agent system was a good concept that they didn't have enough time to actually make work. I really think EA might have ruined it by demanding a bullshit progression system and a multiplayer function. As a result, the game was poorly optimized (small city sizes) and they didn't refine the systems. It's a real shame. And it makes it burn even more. Wasted potential. There was a lot of good talent working on this game.
The game was really deep and that's the good part of it, now if you just take that, make a bigger map, and add new buildings (things get too repetitive) then you've got a great game.
Excellent soundtrack, it plays indeed a great part in the game experience. My favorite is "A Tale of Sim Cities", the first part of that song reminds me of Philip Glass. Many thanks for upload!
SimCity music truly epitomizes how powerful music can be.
When the music changes when you get a high population is when the music is just epic. I love it.
When you get serious about creating music for a game, you have to go full orchestral score. Bravo.
Super Mario Sunshine would like to have a word
This song is the sound of progress, the sound of all human achievement up to this point.
But it is also the sound of what could yet be; the hum and bustle of a city of dreams being fulfilled.
This comment is SO inspiring
But it is true

TheSammy58 What do you think... it's EA, it's technically still a DRM, and it's got 1 DLC that you pretty much have to have or else you can't play with anybody any more. T_T
Kyle Flounder i play with friends. They all have the DLC and I don't. It has never affected my game, there are control net features and things like this that you can access in the DLC but they are not necessary or game breaking for people in the region who don't have them. This game is by no means perfect and maybe even a little broken sometimes but there are SO many moving parts that its hard to tell and to be honest, I really enjoy the game and have sank many, many hours into it. I've yet to express my own interest in the DLC because I've yet to figure out the finer details of everything available to me in the vanilla. I think maybe this game gets un-due hate. Its fine now and there are much worse culprits out there in the bigger mainstream making fools of us all. Destiny being the prime example

Timeless...
And the soundtrack was the best...a perfect fit to the gaming experience ❤
the BEST soundtrack to get work done. Not too intrusive, with the right balance of repetition and development, and inspiring tunes.
The only thing this game did wrong was have small cities, the gameplay was very good.
the city cize is to make players trade with other cities/mayors, kinda like a city specialization thing. EA wanted to push games as service multiplayer bullshit back in 2015. it still a City Management Simulator though, some thick people say that cities is better but cities is a City Building Simulator, you don't manage much...
@@nieildilsonsouza4747 they could have made that happen while STILL allowing players to build in a much bigger map. the map was so small that when you look at other player's cities it was immersive breaking to just see their cities look like squares. cities skylines is a shit city building simulator carried by mods and overpriced DLCs but it's still preferable than simcity 2013 if you want a game where your city actually feels like a city
playing cities skylines and listening to this soundtrack is perfect ^^

15:18 In my opinion, the best SimCity soundtrack I listen to and think about everything I've done in my life and achievements
For some reason when I listen to these songs.. I feel like crying
My problem with SimCity was how task-based it was. The game forced you to set mini-goals, most of which are not necessarily conducive to the goals you might have. SimCity 4 did nothing but respond to your city design with its complex and spot on calculations. The result was a vast, believable, and breathing city. That's what SimCity should be!
What I hate is the small city sizes
Ernesto Ramirez Each region has a certain city size, for example, Cape Trinity has the "small" city size while Rumbling Badlands has the "large" city size, so the larger the region, the larger the city.
skykid i hate the traffic calculations and no Metro
