@@mansij1107 yeah. It does rain quite heavily. It will be a whole different experience you won't regret actually. Watch our Coorg series where we explored Coorg in July to get a sense of what to expect (Coorg gets even more rain than Munnar). You can also consider Ooty, as it doesn't receive rain in July month.

My only concern with renting a scooty is mobile connectivity for google map to reach right destination! How did that worked out for you? Which sim works and can we rely on gmap?
We downloaded offline maps. Yes there were some places where mobile connectivity was not there but offline maps worked. And routes in munnar is very simple, no turns and all. All the attractions are located along a same route

I am planning to take a Kerala trip- do you have information on the suryanelli sunrise peak? is it the same that you mentioned as kolukkumalai? do we need to book a tour for that? i was thinking to maybe rent a place in munnar on the first day, and visit this peak in the morning in the second day. and then take a stay in munnar local for the second day. (we'll be renting a self drive car, so commute won't be much of a problem - but why stay faraway in local munnar when I have to reach the peak so early?) eager for your thoughts!
Thanks a lot, bro. Yes Suryanelli Sunrise Peak and Kolukkumali are the same. You don't need to prebook it. You can reach the suryenalli (village), from here you will get plenty of jeeps. If you have the car and freedom to move with your luggages, then you can stay in suryenalli on the first day, explore all the attractions on that route, next day complete sunrise tour, checkout and then move to munnar. That will save you a lot of time and travel
I suggest staying in Sterling Munnar, its in suryenalli. Great stay and location. Just check if it falls under the budget you are looking for

We visited in early march. the greenery would be more or less the same throughout the year (as its well maintained tea plantations), but weather wise it will be scorching hot in the day and pleasant in the nights.

There are a lot of one day tours by govt buses ... Very cost effective and the bus employees act as guide too

One day tours by government bus don't cover good places rather they show places where they can get good commissions and waste your time. The best is bike for a single person or cabs for family.
Can't compare it with personal drive , but not all can afford it. ,right ?

Hey Rahul :) It is not easily allowed in tea plantations for photoshoot. Mainly tourist spots not allowed. You can try your luck while driving in remote places. Try Lakshmi tea estates. Otherwise book a good bungalows in middle of tea plantations.

Hi, I don't think you can drive with a US driving license in India. There are regular checks in Munnar, so make sure you have an international driving license in case you want to drive in Munnar

At this time of the year, I recommend Ooty, climate will be really good there.
I will go in this December month (22nd dec) so what to carry for winter?? Means heavy sweaters,jackets or just like sweatshirts type?
Better to carry one thick jacket as temperatures will be cold. plus one light hoodie is also better for travel in general.

Thanks a lot brother. I would suggest you take the coastal route on the way back. Munnar -> Kozhikode -> Mangaluru -> Udupi -> Kundapura -> Gokarna. I have been through Mangaluru to Gokarna route, that's just amazing. Not much sure about Munnar to Mangaluru route, but it must be good

Hey, is this Kolukkumalai sunrise point beyond the Gap road? When I searched the maps, there was also something called "Kolukkumalai tea estate" in the opposite direction of the gap road route. Can you help me with the exact location of the sunrise point, where we can take a jeep and get to the sunrise point? Thank you :)
Yes it's on the same way as gap road.. there is a deviation ... Need to check the exact location bro . Ideally you need to book through the locals as the off-roading is too much

There are govt buses that do sightseeing tours. you get it at the munnar bus stand. They don't cover all the places though.

Hey Sharadha, Munnar is absolutely safe for Solo female travellers. No issues with the auto. I would suggest you to stay in Zostel, it is pretty good for solo travellers
