The Abisko northern light that changed everything - an aurora borealis story from the Arctic.

  • 10 years ago, in January 2012, Chad Blakely took a day off as a host at Abisko Sky Station, and together with his every first guests got to experience an epic northern lights display. It all happened in Abisko, Swedish Lapland, and was the seed that grew into his company, Lights over Lapland.
    The group of eight visitors, experience an amazing aurora borealis down by the lake Torneträsk and Chad captured a marvellous timelapse of the heavenly display, that ended up on National Geographic’s website - making that night forever part of establishing of Abisko as one of the best places in the world for viewing northern lights.
    That night Chad also made a pledge: if Lights over Lapland is still here in 10 years, I’ll bring you back for an anniversary.
    In this cinematic mini documentary, you get to follow Chad as he honours that pledge and taking the original eight back to where it all began - and reliving the past 10 years.
