    I bought a SRI Pro lite off a retailer (im not blaming them at all) but when i received the gun the plastic cup had cracks around where it met the metal gromet. Not something is expect from a higher end gun but an email to DeVilBiss and they sent me a new one for free. Also on first use the smaller cleaning brush handle broke

    Hey Gunman, I just bought this gun after watching a lot of videos. I really appreciate your content, it’s definitely the best spray gun content out there.
    It’s my first gun, going to try and repair my own cracked bumper and paint it. Wish me luck.
    I’m also thinking I’ll paint up some of my other stuff with some cool colours too.

    Awesome stuff, been looking forward to a mini-gun review / comparison. Only thing I could suggest after watching a couple of these is hear how they compare finish wise, off the gun. Or how they atomise the clear. I'm guessing the TE5 air cap must be similar to the T110 air cap on the GTi Pro Lite. How does it compare finish wise.

  • @glytch5
    @glytch5 Před 3 lety

    Here is a question... so small tip sizes are for small jobs... however paint TDS booklets say minimum tip size of x... being something much bigger than the 0.8 or even 1.0. Does that mean you simply can't spray those paints? Or it will just not be a lot of material? I can't imagine spraying 2k primer out of a 1.0 tip... I want a gun that has a very small fan pattern but can handle regular solvent based car paints.

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  Před 3 lety

      These guns definitely can spray anything you put in it, it's more about viscosity, you may find you need to add some reducer. You also may find the smaller tip size lays the metallic slightly different, that's probably why they recommend 1.2 or above, I bet it's more for colour match than whether or not you can physically spray the fluid through it.

    • @glytch5
      @glytch5 Před 3 lety

      @@TheGunmanChannel Thats interesting. The paints i'm referring to are primers and stuff though... but if you can spray metallic through them I guess that means it should be okay. I do not spray cars much.. and when I do it is only my old rust bucket car. Do I need to spring for an SRI? Or should I buy one of the discontinued model detail guns with the blue parts on it? My local dealer is recommending I just get an FLG4 before you can't anymore. It seems like its too much fan for me!

    Does the new Devilbiss SRi Pro Lite have a Low volume cap spray? Spraygunsdirect lists a TE5 high efficiency cap, will that work for my smaller compressor. 2hp 4.6 gallon 6.3cfm at 40 psi. I mostly will use this for woodworking spraying cabinets, doors moulding etc. I already have a Titan airless Ed-655 diaghram pump sprayer it shoots at 2300psi and is my latex gun for water base acrylics. I’m looking for a sprayer that will do smaller jobs and finer finishes. You spelled out the reasons for this gun over the ANI R-150. Interchangeable caps. I was also watching the top 8 mini gun video and the ani seemed to have a little less paint transfer efficiency and the SRI looks like it’s a more consistent fan with better atomization...

  • @bentoa166

    Thanks for the vids dude, very useful but I still can't make a decision. I'm looking for a gun to paint musical instruments (mainly guitars), mostly high quality high gloss clear coats but may want to do sunburst which would require fine atomisation I think. I have a medium sized compressor. I was thinking about a GTI Pro Lite with T110 and 1.3, but watching this I think the SRI may be be better suited. I'm never going to do anything the size of a car, maybe a fence but can get a cheap for that. Interested in your opinion.

    How does this compare with the SATA minijet 440? I'm looking at both these and also still maybe considering saving some money and going for the ANI r150. I will probably only be painting motorbike parts so don't think I will need to invest in a full size gun hence why I am thinking of spending a bit more on a mini gun.

    • @TheGunmanRAW
      @TheGunmanRAW Před 5 lety

      Definitely get a mini gun if that's all you want to paint. SATA is the best of the three but best bang for your buck is easily the ani, I use mine daily and it never misses a beat, the pot is its only let down, but if you don't use it daily then it may not be a big deal.

      To be honest I've always had the luxury of having a big compressor so I don't look into guns required CFM that often but if you look on the DeVilbiss website, all that tech info should be available. If air is an issue then go for LVLP air caps like TE10 or T110, they have smaller air holes so they consume less air.

      I have thought about it but I really am happy where I am, good crew, decent pay, holiday & sick pay, work on nice cars and the hours are great. These days the beaters are a bit behind because a few left so I'm just doing 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM so I have a lot of time on my hands to make vids and just relax. My ex-business partner is doing well which is good but he loves working on the old cars, after a year of it I just craved smashing out the insurance work.

      A lot to be said for time off too. Running a business takes time, more than most people think, along with the responsibility of the bills I guess.

      Julian P. Exactly, I also like being able to switch off, I get to go home without being hassled by customers and stressing out about whatever it may be that day. All in all we did quite well but for now I'm just happy on wages.

    Gunman need advice on which spray guns to get. I'm starting back in the trade after 11 years out and need advice on on guns and set up. I need a primer gun, water base coat gun and a lacquer gun just to get me started thank you. If anyone else could advise it would be much appreciated.

      Whats your budget and what water system you using?

      I was thinking around £600-£700 for the lot but I could stretch that a little they use the standox water base system. I was thinking the devilbiss gti pro lite with a t110 and 1.3 tip for the final coat but stuck with the others.

      Standoblue is the same as the Cromax Pro I used to use, I struggled with it a little on silvers for a while until I started using the TE10 1.3 on my GTI Pro or lite so I would recommend that for your base, I find I don't use the T110 that much unless I want a full glass finish but minimal material.
      If you are using Standox there's a good chance they use HS or VOC clears and they are thick, I find the TE20 1.3 ideal for those clears.
      You'd most likely want another gun for stuff like plastic primer, basecoat blender, 2nd colours etc so I do highly recommend the ANI F150, it's not quite up there with the DeVilbiss but ideal for what I call a "helper gun", not your go to for clear or base but there if you need an extra.
      A good option for a primer gun would be an Airgunsa AZ3 1.8 or 2.0 and they are reasonably cheap.
      That would be about in your budget to get all 4 of them. If you have any change I'd get one of those ANI R150 mini/midi guns in 1.2 for spot repairs etc.
      Another person may give different advice but I think that'd definitely get you back into it.
