  • @gorrdd
    @gorrdd Před 2 lety +1

    Very interesting. With what's coming, I think you will see that Goldfield Hotel be completely refurbished to better than new condition. Both as a hotel and as a tourist attraction.
    Your going to see a tremendous amount of renovation of historic sites. Nevada is a treasure trove of history. The place looks a little rough right now.
    I liked the area where you camped out among the Joshua trees. What were the high temps and elevation there?
    Gord

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  Před 2 lety +1

      Nevada sure is a treasure trove of history, but I'm not certain I agree with you on the Goldfield Hotel. They've made several efforts to revive the place over the past 40 years, none of which has succeeded.
      Elevation was around 4,200. High temps were in the 70s to upper 80s, depending on the day, but overnight lows were quite cool and comfortable.

    • @gorrdd
      @gorrdd Před 2 lety +1

      @@GrandAdventure Thanks Marc. I wasn't sure of your elevation. You seemed comfortable enough which made me suspect you were higher up.
      Under the current financially depressed circumstances, nothing will happen. But if that dynamic changes, then anything is possible. Why do I think that?
      The banking trustees of the trust I am involved with are expecting huge positive liquidity changes coming very soon. I don't take lightly what they say.
      They also indicated that there would be a huge amount of historical renovation development in the future. Historical sites that are falling apart will be saved. This will no doubt be something that you can capitalize on in future Grand Adventures.
      Gord

    As you were walking around town I saw a few artsy type cars. I was like heeeeey.... that has slab city written all over it and then you got to the car forest and it all kind of made sense, I think. The folk just have not yet made it to slab city at time and had creative differences. Well look at it this way... they may be long gone but it gives tourists something to look at while in town so its all good.

    I used to visit Goldfield from time to time with a friend, and we rode dirt bikes and found an abandoned mine that nobody knew about. Several antique trinkets were found.
