I know that this game probably has much more serious issues, but... I finally figured out why I find this game (and "My Hero Academia: One's Justice") so ugly to look at: it's how combos are animated on the ground and in the air. On the ground, the characters slide around as if they were floating. In the air, the characters hang stiffly, as if they were standing on solid ground. The final result is this uncanny look as if the characters are constantly "walking on air". I think the Storm series was smart to make air combos much shorter than grounded combos and give each hit a slight upward motion. This isn't about realism (I know that Storm air combos also defy gravity), it's about game feel. It just looks incredibly awkward to have a character be perfectly still mid-air, with their feet positioned as if they're supposed to be standing.
To be honest, that’s my main issue with the game. I like it for most aspects but that is one thing I can’t overlook.
