  • Adrian Rogers: Lordship of Christ (1946)
    Scripture Passage: Romans 14:7-12
    God wants us to live with kingdom authority; but there can be no reigning in this life until we confess these three words: Jesus is Lord.
    Lord means “someone or something having power, authority, or influence.” When we claim to commit to Jesus Christ, we must surrender to His lordship, as Paul explains in Romans, “For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself” (Romans 14:7)
    First, remember the redeeming claim of His lordship: “For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s” (Romans 14:8).
    When Jesus died for us, He purchased our souls with His redeeming blood; we are no longer our own, we belong to Him.
    Adrian Rogers says, “When you gave your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ, that was the last independent decision you ever made.”
    Second, we see the resurrection conquest of His lordship: “For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living” (Romans 14:9). There can be no other king in our lives; no man can serve two masters. (See Matthew 6:24.) Christ requires our submission and absolute ownership of all we possess with unquestioned obedience.
    We shouldn’t be afraid to trust our lives to the One who loved us enough to die for us.
    Finally, there must be a regal confession of His lordship: “...As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God” (Romans 14:11). We will confess Christ as Lord, whether in this world or the next.
    Confessing Christ as Lord seals our salvation and conquers Satan; it also comforts and confirms the saints. The more we assert it to others, the stronger our faith becomes.
    As we confess Christ’s lordship, the things of this world fall away. Our separation from this world convicts those who see the difference in our lives and want to understand the source of our joy.
    And when we claim Christ as Lord, our decisions seem to make themselves, as He guides us in all things.
    Apply it to your life
    Have you surrendered to the lordship of Christ? Is He Lord of all that you have and do, Lord of your thoughts, your tongue, your temper, time, and testimony?

      Was saved? John 10:27-30
      27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”

    This sermon really saddens me. Why? Because Adrian Rogers rejected most of the doctrines of Calvin, but here, he preached "Lordship Salvation." This position adds to grace. The statement, "Jesus Christ is either Lord of all, or is NOT Lord at all," simply contradicted what Dr. Rogers stated earlier when he spoke that Jesus is Lord. The Scriptures truly states that we are not our own, we were bought with a price. We are to honor God with our bodies. Paul was writing specifically about fornication. That we are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are NOT to come together with harlots, uniting with the Holy Spirit in us. Lordship Salvation is a dangerous doctrine!

      I believe the same as you. Dr. Rogers was still a great man of God. I can't help but think he was influenced wrongly on this matter. To make Jesus Lord for salvation is a sneaky way to add works to grace. All I understood when I got saved was I was a sinner on my way to hell and that the Lord had become a man and died in my place on the cross as the Lamb of God. I had no thought of making Him Lord. God did change my life when I got saved because He imparted to me a new nature and gave me the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. I haven't remained under His Lordship all these 44 years since that happened. If you make any other condition for salvation other than placing your faith in the blood of the Lamb of God you would of necessity lose your salvation the very second you fail to keep that extra condition that is added to faith in Christ.
      I believe salvation requires faith in both WHO Jesus Christ is and WHAT He did for us at Calvary. Any change that occurs at salvation is the RESULT of what God has done in you, not your resolve to make Jesus your Lord. The believer still has the "old man" or the sin nature and that nature will fight you on your resolve to make Jesus Lord of your life.

      Is no wrong to make Jesus Lord of your life.
      Adam and Eve didn’t make God Lord, He said if you eat the fruit… you will died.
      They DIED correct.
      Is your decision to stop in red light, if you continue you will paid the consequences.
      After your became Christian, you surrendered all.
      But you decide how to live.
      You are not a robot.
      God predictions is for all to be save, but the chosen are those who wants to be resibe the Gift of life.
      IS A GIFT from GOD.
      That who so ever believes in HIM…..John 3:16
      God’s bless you.
      I love you 🙏♥️

      If Jesus Christ is not the Lord of your life you don't belong to Him, you have another lord an idol, next time you look in the mirror you will see him. So ignorant of Scripture. If you are not willingly submitting to Jesus Christ as Lord, you don't belong to Him. So called Christians who hate Lordship of Christ over their lives are not saved. You should read 1 John, make sure you are truly saved if you say you are a Christian. Slandering a true man of God is stupid and foolish. Pr 10:18. Whoever conceals hatred has lying lips, And one who spreads slander is a fool. Repent from your slander, God has no pleasure in fools.

    • @Jeremiah17910
      @Jeremiah17910 Před 6 měsíci

      @randyd9805 another ignorant so called Christian. You don't make Jesus Lord, He is Lord from Eternity. If Jesus Christ is not the Lord of your life you don't belong to Him, no matter what you say.

    • @Jeremiah17910
      @Jeremiah17910 Před 6 měsíci

      @@rosaurizar9883think before you speak about Jesus Christ. So many people who say they are Christians are so ignorant of God's word. You don't make Jesus Lord. That is a stupid statement, JESUS CHRIST IS LORD FROM ETERNITY PAST. If you are truly saved when you believed in Him He became your Lord, you didn't make Him Lord. And if He is not the Lord of your life you don't belong to Him.
