I was a size 5, and was so excited that pregnancy elongated my feet to a size 5.5 or 6, which is much easier to find! But now I’m much older, and we lose the fat cushion on the ball of your foot, which makes heals really uncomfortable. But what I didn’t expect was that I’d also lose the fat/protrusion on back of my heel, which means pumps won’t stay on anymore! It’s like a kid wearing Mom’s shoes. I’m definitely going to try those heel pads!

It can be so hard to find good shoes! I find either the fit is bad, they fall apart after a month or two, or they don’t offer enough support. The “supportive” brands are often not very fashionable. I want to go back to the days where a cobbler would make quality shoes to fit each individual..

Great explanation of the use of the word “nude!” I’ve had the most success with Zappos. Regardless of my constraints, they generally have at least at least a few pair that meet my needs. I’ve been known to order 8 pair of almost identical shoes from different brands with the hopes that one pair fits. Free returns! It’s not an eco-efficient way to shop, but if I had to drive to as many stores as I’d need to in order to try on such a variety (if it were possible, which it is not) it would be considerably worse. It’s amazing how people who wear size 6 and up think our little feet are so great - they have no idea...

Thanks for this video! I never seem to find people who can understand what a struggle it is to walk in flats when you have small, narrow feet. I'm a size 5.5 or 6, which isn't THAT small, but I'm a narrow AA with a AAAA heel. Those are basically impossible to find. I opt for boot, booties, shoes with straps across the ankle, or strappy sandals, since I just can't walk in flats or low-vamp anything. I also like the stick-on Dr. Scholl's For Her Ball Of Foot Cushions, which I find help make heels walkable for shorter distances.

One of my great-aunts was tiny, under 5 feet tall, and wore UK size 2 shoes (her nickname was 'Dot'). I had some of her shoes and was the only kid I knew who could play dress-up in beautiful high heels that actually fit. I didn't take after her and have exactly the opposite problem. Only last week I had to order shoes online because the largest size that the store carried was too small for me.

I’m 5’1” and I wear about a 6-6 1/2 depending on the shoe. I’d love to wear heels, but I’ve had back surgery and it just hurts me too much to wear them. I’m also chunkier than I want to, and should be, so it makes it even tougher. Those shoes are all cute.

Actually, Size 6 or 6 1/2 is not really that small.
I wear size 5 or sometimes 5 1/2 if it is a boot and therefore wear socks with boots. I ALWAYS see Size 6 and 6 1/2 shoes all the time, be it Macy's or Target or Kohl's. I do see Size 5 sometimes, but choices are a lot less then if you wear a Size 6 or 6 1/2.

  • @carlsenlifeafter60carlsen11

If you order men's toupe tape on amazon and put the put in the center of the shoe, the heels will not slide off in the back. You need a few stands but it does work. It must be toupe tape since it is very strong.

  • @Off_the_clock_astrophysicist

Wow, and I thought I had problems with my small feet. I am going to try the heel grip. I did get the kind that only has the back of the heel piece, but they don't help a lot. I have an impressive library of shoe inserts to make my shoes stay on my feet better. The downside of shopping online is that once does not get to walk around in the shoes before purchase. Every shoe is built differently. Some work, some don't. I do take advantage of free returns on Amazon, and when I find a pair that fits well, I do go back for more! I keep a shoe pantry stocked, because my shoe shopping is "whenever I find a pair that fits" not "whenever I need a new pair of shoes". The former can take weeks and months and so it's dangerous to wait until I need a new pair of shoes before I go shoe shopping.

My problem is that I have a narrow heel and a wide forefoot and need tons of toe space. Edit - Further into the video, those heel grips may actually help me! I could get an 8 and wear the grips, or I may need those for my kids. Sometimes you buy the next size up, but it's TOO big, they will grow into it, but for the mean time? We've tried the just in the heel thing and they don't stay. I may try these!

I love shoes and have the same problem. I have tried the heel grips but found they lifted 'the sock' up from the shoe - has anyone overcome this problem?

Someone suggested for sliding shoes is... fashion tape! Under your heels. Clever.

Even with a size 6 I often run into the fit being a smidge too loose.

I have the same trouble. And besides my feet are thin. They swim inside shoes. I use blisters for toe.

I got these from Amazon US but I presume they also have a UK Amazon for similar products? Or you could check on UK ebay- sometimes you can find similar products there.

I once purchased flats with gartered back and shoes gave me blisters at the back of my feet because they rubbed on the skin. After wearing them only 3 times I ended up donating them, better than hurting myself. By the way, do you suggest petite wearing platform shoes? Well not the ugly looking lug sole but the more decent looking platform shoes which would make wearing heesl more bearable?

Is there any magic trick for cut off shoes at front. They always give me nasty blisters on my big toe. I glued one of those foamy rubber supposed to be placed at back of show to prevent feet slipping
placed them on bottom of front and it did save me from a bigger blister but still got some rubbing there almost to develop another nasty painful blister yet. Just glad didn’t have to walk much during my niece and nephew graduation. Ouch! Help?!
