In today's video I am speaking to homeless Liberians in Ghana who have live in Ghana for more than 25 years. #westafrica #monrovia #africatravels #africa #Ghana Refugees #Buduburam
As a Liberian this makes me so angry at ourselves. You migrated 2 countries away from home, it’s not the government’s job to get you back home. Nothing is stopping them from going back except complacency and laziness
@@Gyahkebbeh how are they being treated? I don't see any mistreatment, I see a people left alone and instead of working to integrate into Ghanaian society they choose to wait on dirty mattresses for the Liberian government. The president is not accountable for everyone's actions, they clearly don't want much for themselves.
Thank you so much for making this video, Emmanuel. I hope Liberian can see how Ghanaian treat Liberian in Ghana. Where-by, Ghanaians are living a free and happy life in Liberia. I hope this can be a wake up call for every Liberian.
What the hell this guy saying in the red shirt? Who's stopping Liberians from integrating into the Ghanaian system. Your life, your discovery. That's why those who been on that camp over 20 years are still there and blaming others. Sad but this pisss me off at the same time.
There are so many unanswered questions concerning these Liberians still living in the refugee camp? The last gentleman raised some valid points. After 34 years many Liberians were settled around the world on resettlement programs: some Liberians went back to Liberia by choice and through repatriation.. However, Liberians who are asked to leave the camp, what are the provisions made for legal integration into Ghanaian society like resident status, citizenship, because many of these Liberian children were born in Ghana, and their parents left Liberia during the war when they were young. Some do not have relatives nor place to live or money to start new life in Liberia. Liberia was once a place of refuge for Ghanaians during their difficult times in the 70s and 80s, and many West African citizens that fled military regimes and landed safely in Liberia. As an observer who once lived in both countries in the 70s, the political situation many African countries is unpredictable. Treat your fellow African with respect and dignity because it may be your turn tomorrow. This is a humanitarian crisis that both Liberian and Ghanaian government have to work out diplomatically before it gets worse between two friendly countries.
Ungrateful Liberians, after 36yrs of free housing and more, you were ask to integrate and start working like any other person in Ghana, but you said no, you still want to be treated like a refugee to always receive free things. What else should Ghana do for you? GOD BLESS MOTHER GHANA
What such deplorable conditions our citizens are enduring in Ghana! Most of these people weee traumatized during the war and traumatized again in Ghana? Majority of those people will need extensive therapy to rejoin normal society to restart the normalcy of life again! Mercy! There’s hope for them but both Liberia and Ghana need to come to their rescue and The Almighty God will do the rest! United Nations probably gave both Ghana and Liberia funds to care for our displaced citizens and these corrupt governments stole those funds for themselves and abandoned our people!
The war in Liberia over 20years ago and I believe people were offered to back home but some chose to remind on their own and I it very disgusting that some Liberians are blaming Ghanaians for the plight of their fellow Liberians and the Ghanaians have been nothing but good to the Liberians for keeping them over 30yrs ,stop blaming other people for your government shortcomings and some of you are ungrateful.
The last guy just spoke jargons without sense. The police on integration in ECOWAS Nations is very simple and direct. Obtain your country's passport through your embassy, and Obtain a residence permit. Or just the residence permits is okay 👍
Why most people in Africa prefer Ghana for refuge.Liberia ended their war many years ago, so what is the government of liberia waiting for? The living arrangement is deplorable.
The government of liberia needs to work together to raise funds for these people to leave Ghana... The government needs to put a full package together so that when they arrive, they will need to restart their life all over. Hopefully, the government can pitch in changing these Liberian citizens' livelihoods
Liberians on the camp are being treated very inhumanely! Liberia government you owe it to your citizens to seek and give your children/citizens the outmost care of return home! Both Liberia and Ghana can be sued or tried for injustice of humanity in Geneva! Liberia, if this is true what the outside world is seeing, both Liberia and Ghana must take action swiftly to resolve this inhumane conditions of our abandoned and deserted citizens!
Liberians, please stop taking this in the negative way. My partner have been on that camp from 2009 to 2022. He said UN took people from there to Canada and US and gave some of them money to leave but they use the money to ball others invested the money and moved out of there
This is an utter embarrassment to Liberian people. We are the most neediest people on the planet. You’ve been in Ghana for 35 years and you asked for 50 CDs which equals $3.46usd which equals to $188,916 if you had saved it. And that’s just one person. You guys could’ve gather your resources and purchase land in Ghana. Instead of relying on someone to bring you food start a garden. Grow your own food. Collect water, dig well. These are elders that have the knowledge on how to do things and young people that have the strength. There is no reason we should be living like this. These people have opened up their homes to Liberian for 35 years. We’re ungrateful as if we’re owed something. The help hand you’re looking for is always and only at the end of your other hand.. This is pitiful. Always a sorrowful story always a begging story. We must learn to help ourselves. 🤦🏽😒
This is really sad. I hope our people finally decide to return home. I lived on camp for about 6 years, and i know what it is like. It's terrible!!
Very sad, some of these people left Liberia about 34 years ago, to gather the courage to go back is not an easy thing...
@emmanuelykortu exactly its a situation where its easier said than done!!!!!@
It’s so sad bro let them go back home
As a Liberian this makes me so angry at ourselves. You migrated 2 countries away from home, it’s not the government’s job to get you back home. Nothing is stopping them from going back except complacency and laziness
Ur 💯 correct
If Kwame Nkumah was the president you think he would treat Liberians like that.

Why are you guys misunderstanding these whole things

Ungrateful people, imagine if they started life normally like any Ghanaian after 2012 they will have been better.
They do not have a plan to move forward. They need to go home.
think is better to suffer in your own country than to suffer in somebody country the goverment have to do something this is very bad and sad 😔 😔
You are right but some of those people left Liberia about 34 years ago under a very hash condition

Liberia deserves so much support, you don't even understand how the world treated us. Liberians have to be strong.
Home will always be home. Even you left your country for decades, you need to go back home.
When was this video recorded?
Mr. President, please 🙏 try and bring our people home .
They need to go home and build houses.
This is disheartening to see - especially in that hard Ghana economy.
Lies lies and more lies!
The last guy just spoke jargons without sense. The police on integration in ECOWAS Nations is very simple and direct. Obtain your country's passport through your embassy, and Obtain a residence permit. Or just the residence permits is okay 👍
There needs to be accountability from Liberia and Ghana for these deplorable and inhumane conditions of our people on the camp!
Let them go home
This is soooo sad !
This is sad why can’t our people go back home?
Pls let our government try to do something about our people in Ghana. So sad.
Why most people in Africa prefer Ghana for refuge.Liberia ended their war many years ago, so what is the government of liberia waiting for? The living arrangement is deplorable.
Hmm 🤔
Liberia is so sad.

Yes indeed is heart breaking story
Why don't they come home ?
Where in Ghana are these people located?
Buduburam
The man in the red shirt interesting 😂😂😂😂
Please don't blame the Ghana government, blame the liberian government for abandoning their citizens.

You know our people Oh😂😂😢😭this all started because of Tubman open door policy, our mindset before then was strong and independent people.
Why is Ghana treating their fellow African neighbors in these horrible conditions? Ghanaians living in Liberia are treated with honor and dignity!
The Ghanaians living in liberia are not displaced. They did not go to liberia because of war..........
What is your government doing to take its citizens back to Liberia? Point your fingers at your government.
resentment would be my first guess. blaming Ghanaians is only going to breed more resentment.
It's a multi front battle, on the individual level you have to empower yourself, sitting around for government aid is disempowering.
