  • There are some kits out there offering a quiter ride with a lower rpm clutch set up. Todd breaks down why this is not a good thing in some cases. Check it out.

    I just got a 24 rzr xp4 1000 and every now and then from a dead stop I hear a pop that sounds like it’s coming from the clutch area. Do you have any idea what that might be

    • @Hunterworks
      @Hunterworks  Před 5 měsíci

      Yes and it is normal, just the roller swapping sides in the secondary before you start. some do it some don't. It is not hurting anything

      @@Hunterworksfor some reason I didn’t get a notification but thanks for the timely response unlike me 😂. Mine runs about 6200 cruising and I think the exhaust is the biggest noise problem for me. I heard a GGB Trail exhaust on a new xp and the tone isn’t as high pitched sounding and made the noise in the cabin a lot better in my opinion

  • @JamesJ7851
    @JamesJ7851 Před 7 měsíci

    I understand, what these machine really need is a cruise mode or a multi gear transmission. I recently purchased a new 2024 Can Am Defender. The cab noise is high, engine screams all the time. I'm at 18 mph and the engine is already at 4000 RPM. Damn thing gives me a headache. I'm seriously thinking about getting rid of it. I hate it more, each time I drive it.

      That’s very quiet. I have the same these xpedition are crazy loud.

  • @surethatsok
    @surethatsok Před 9 měsíci +1

    Why can't manufacturers put a standard transmission in these things? Then you can cruise at the rpm you want, instead of revving 10,000 rpm just to traverse flat ground at slow speed.

    • @Hunterworks
      @Hunterworks  Před 9 měsíci

      They do, honda, yamaha and now can am plus polaris does on the new Ranger XP 1500 but the main reason is cost.

    Your belt lowers RPM? How so?

    • @Hunterworks
      @Hunterworks  Před 8 měsíci +2

      We use our Turbo belt that we have had for a long time that is a hybrid of dimensions plus our own spin on dimensions and this 24 model simply uses the 2016 Turbo RZR belt, so with the dimension changes it alters rpm per the video for the better everywhere.

    Polaris has just released a clutch kit fix for this *Jan 30 2024) - parts and labour are covered- the fix is new weights in the primary= they say that a new helix and springs are not necessary and have minimal impact on the revs and performance - contact your dealer - I would love to hear from someone that has this fix installed

    • @Hunterworks
      @Hunterworks  Před 6 měsíci

      I can assure you, that is not a "fix" that is a band aid and this video explains why that is not a good idea and why we didn't do it. The issue is gearing, high range is geared too low and this is a bad band aid fix for the real problem

    • @captainstk001
      @captainstk001 Před 6 měsíci

      So I guess we are stuck with it . A gear reduction would be prohibitive.@@Hunterworks

    • @captainstk001
      @captainstk001 Před 6 měsíci

      Here is what Polaris sent me - this is apparently from their engineering group. FYI -I apologize for the delay. The Polaris XPEDITION was designed to bring an elevated level of adaptability, comfort, and
      capability while still providing a high level of performance. However, we understand that not
      everyone requires this level of performance and may appreciate reduced engine noise in trade. In
      response to your valuable feedback, Polaris is releasing an optional clutch weight kit to address
      your concerns. The clutch kit includes three 81-gram clutch weights that will provide two benefits:
      1) Clutch engagement at a lower engine speed, and 2) Reduce engine speed at a given ground
      speed, resulting in less noise experienced throughout most of the speed range of the vehicle. Our
      testing has shown that durability requirements and noise reduction improvements could be met
      with a weight change only, and that changing the spring or helix did not provide additional
      notable improvement.

      @@captainstk001 I understand that completely, I still stand by what I say in this video. That will work just like I mentioned in the video "if" you "ONLY" cruise around. If you floor it with heavy weights, it will slow acceleration, put the clutches in a bog and heat up the belt. So again "if" and "only" this works, otherwise as mentioned it is in fact a gearing issue. Polaris engineers are very hit and miss so take what they say with a grain of salt. General clutching is correct, XP general has been wrong for years, all 21 and newer turbo's are still wrong and this is just a couple examples. Wait, in 2016 RZR XP 1000 had a rev limiter hitting problem, mid year they put heavier weights, in 2017 they totally changed it all. So what your getting from them is just what they do, band aids that just do not work!!

      Thanks for your reply - so I think I am through with Polaris - spending that kind of money on a machine - pretty disappointing - any idea what is involved in changing the gearing?? PS _ I am running a Hunterworks belt @@Hunterworks
