I had to play with it a little before it finally worked but it works now. I think I had to disconnect from my wifi signal>reconnect to wifi> Then activate aka turn on WIFI 3.0. And bam it was working.. Thumbs up to the guy who suggested this.
Works perfectly on Windows 7 & 8... Note: You can use a WiFi USB Modem on the laptop/PC to access the Internet it doesn't have to be a hard wired connection to share & make the HOTSPOT.

Well I had the same problem. The solution is - Don't set up the adhoc network with WPA-2 authentication(which was the default setting in my case) . Use WEP security as Iphone can detect only that. And further if you are using a proxy server for yout internet on your laptop give those details on your mobile or tablet. Also remember to share the internet connection over "Wireless Connection"
Dear All, For desktop & laptop if u want to turn as a hotspot u shud use connectify installer software then u can connect mobile phones & lappy as much as u wanna connect & if u want to use ur mobile phone internet in laptop so in ur mobile phone u shud have hotspot option ( check in setting > wireless option ). Set it up on my windows 7 and then when I try to connect via wifi on my phone it says the network is not in range yet I am sitting right next to laptop. I am however using a laptop which has built in wifi and I am trying to use a USB superpass high gain antenna for my input from a local free wifi service. The connection on my laptop with my antenna is way better than I had with my $50/month cable internet.
