  • After finding out our roof needed to be resealed, we figured it'd be the perfect time to make some upgrades on the roof. In this video, we install a MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent 7000K which is remote controlled and has an internal thermostat to help regulate the temperature of RV. This upgrade will give us peace of mind as we RV with pets knowing the rig won't get too hot. Hope you enjoy the video!

    One of my all time favorite tools is the multi-tool. I had a 12 volt one first, world ok but heavy use, not great. Got 18 volt Ridgid, works great, but if you push it long, it overheats/ shuts down.. for heavy use, I use the Ridgid electric multi-tool. I buy them for the lifetime service and it works. A little trouble at times but I’ve gotten $1,400.00 in free batteries over 15-20 years.

    It looks like you were pulling out a utility knife to cut the tip of the Dicor tube, though you didn't show it. That caulk gun ( and most you now find in the stores) has a hole in the side of the grip that you can stick the tip into and squeeze the trigger hard and it will cut the tip off.

    We bought this fan from etrailer also except we did not get the redmote control which was a huge mistake. The previous fan had the opening knob in a location where I could reach it above the cabover. The new fan has the opening knob in the far corner, so I can't reach it. It is a pain to ask hubby open and close it for me. Lesson learned...spring some extra cash for the remote control model. Hubby said he would replace ith but he sealed it in with eternabond tape and lap sealant. It would probably tear the roof to remove it.

    • @EatSeeRV
      @EatSeeRV  Před 4 lety

      Greg, the rubber roof membrane is vacuum sealed to a ¼ piece of plywood decking that is then layered on top of the insulation foam.
      When you mount an accessory like the Maxxfan I installed in this video you will be screwing directly into the roof decking.
      To speak to your build quality question.. I'm not necessarily disappointed in Fleetwood's build quality specifically. The factory build issues I'm finding could be found in any coach built by any manufacturer.
      With that said, be patient if you're buying a brand new unit & make sure to go with a manufacturer that has a good warranty program. I can vouch for Grand Design & we have friends that are happy with Winnebago. Other than that we don't have any experience with other manufacturers warranty programs.
      I really hope this helps! - Dennis ✌️

    • @EatSeeRV
      @EatSeeRV  Před 4 lety

      Mark, thank you so much!
      Check with the manufacturer of the trailer you're planning to buy regarding their build process & roof construction. Most of the manufacturers are pretty transparent when it comes to that sort of thing.
      If the trailer you're buying has a roof vent installed already, like our fleetwood did, you will just be replacing the factory vent with the maxfann. The roof vent holes should be standard 14" x 14", so any modern roof vent should fit without issue.
      Hope this helps! - Dennis ✌️

    Keep am eye on Amazon, it's not great as it once it used to be. They are really picky on returns now. It used to be free returns on anything for any reason, not any more. If you say your returning somethings because you don't like it, they charge you for shipping back the item. And if your returning a third party item, they won't take it back anymore until the selling company approves the return, which can take days because the selling company is in China. Recently web had to return something that turned out from from a third party, the discussion to return so long that we passed the return period (the seller took a long time to respond) and then Amazon refused to take it back. We called and talked to a manager and really fought back about it. They finally gave our money back. It's not a easy company to work with anymore. Buyer be ware.
