Sadly, jails and prisons are so over-crowded that prosecuting DUI's that didn't result in injury or death is lower on the priority list. It's unfortunate that injury has to occur first in most cases, when you'd think that's something judges would want to prevent:P Also, court is hesitant to yank someone's drivers license because then it causes larger problems with having citizens who can't get a job due to not having transportation.

Workmates daughter and her friend in car, just left classes at college. Sitting at a light, the driver, her daughter calls, says they will be by soon.
Two seconds after she hangs up, a drunk guy slams into the back of the car.
My friends daughter dies instantly 😢 her chest now part of the steering wheel. The passenger in the back seat. Both wearing seat belts. The friend dies the next day. Both 19 years old.
My workmate was 300 pounds. I go visit to console the fam. She is down 100 pounds in 2 months. She hasn't been the same since. I saw her where I work now and she is doing better. Her husband did 2 tours in Nam. They didn't deserve this. The guy got life.
All Dui even the first: Life. If that guy was in prison my friends daughter and her friend would still be here 😢

That’s the reason so many women stay in an abusing relationship. Their man verbally and physically abuses them when he’s drunk or high then apologizes when he’s sober. Promises to never do it again so they stay.

I lived in Henderson NV for several years. I have never committed a crime in my life. I had received a traffic ticket and not known about so I was arrested for failure to appear and brought down to ccdc. The staff were very professional. The blond supervisor was very nice and helpful.

I have so much respect for people who have to deal with both those situations, medical professionals & the people in our policing other EMS services.
It blows my mind the way some of these people act.
I'm a career retail worker, though I spent 10 years also working as an independent individual provider for disabled & elderly. Sometimes while also doing a retail job.
I've unfortunately gone through too much loss through that field so I left it after I found my best friend deceased in her apartment.
I lost my brother 6 years prior who I worked as a caregiver for part time. It just got to be too much hurt.

Why dont police in USA use breathalyser tests like most other developed countries?
They do, but if the person refuses they are automatically arrested and taken to jail for a blood test.
Only if someone is killed do you have to give blood in many states if you refuse a test you loose your license automatically for a year
The breathalyzer is at the station. The person gets a field sobriety test to see if they are indeed drunk.
In most states, the blood test is required.

Sgt Warren - I cannot comprehend how anyone coming from the Netherlands would prefer becoming a US citizen - and most of all working as a corrections officer in the states? Is it because in most European countries it's actually a 3 year long academic education becoming a cop - In the US in most states it's a 3 month non academic training becoming a correstions officer (which tells a lot in regards to how corrections officers many times come to fault due to ignorance) And most of all - you do have to pass senior high with a degree in Europe. So how can the USA provide anything for you? As a comparision I mean - I am not being disrespectful towards you or the country you have chosen I just can't grasp why you make the decision when you have a very privileged situation in the Netherlands getting all education including a university degree for free. If you just study to get accaptable grades in school.
