We Irish need to go back to our roots, language, history, traditions, heritage and culture, such as we did with The Voice by Eimear Quinn or Casey Smith’s Heartbeat - I have both of these songs as ringtones on my phone here in Manchester U.K. and yes, having an entry As Gaelige - I’m trying to learn Irish myself at age 52 after 21 years living in the U.K. and every time I come home on the ferry from Holyhead, I try to connect with my home country’s history, heritage and culture as much as possible, having grown up in Dunshaughlin Co Meath where I have extended family and friends - our Irish history, heritage, language, traditions and culture is a precious legacy that we must ensure is passed on to future generations which we must never lose sight of
No matter what people say, Ireland deserved the final this year. It’s sick how much Brooke improved for Turin since her NF. She gave it all. It was in my top 5. For me, it’s the best Irish entry for the last 15 years. She owned that stage, and was almost a public qualifier. I’m so proud of her. I wanna thank Ireland for giving this icon to us. She was the only right choice from the NF either way. Ireland, please be proud of Brooke 🥺 Good luck next year, can’t wait to hear your entry 🇧🇬❤️🇮🇪

Nah I was born in 1994 and I still prefer some our 80s and 90s song over some today's songs. Still I have some favourites from this century from our songs... But 2008 ?! What was that???
I sincerely don't get why Ireland had qualified so few times. Their music is nearly always on point, deserving at least being in the final. Last several years, I can each time easily name several countries that qualified but didn't really deserve it, while Ireland was thrown overboard despite being better. I mean, Brooke's was legit my favourite song this year, narrowly surpassing the Czechia's We Are Domi for me) People will say politics, of course, but I really don't believe politics can get you THAT far as to continuosly deny awesome songs at least being in the final... Guess the world just loves extravagant music now, instead of, you know, old school quality.
It was easier for Ireland back in the days when there weren't semifinals and the participating countries HAD to sing in their native languages(i.e.: the Greek participant sung in Greek, the Israeli sung in Hebrew, etc.), also stuff like bloc voting.
I am so sad that 85% of the Irish entries from 2001 until today were roobed. Especially Brooke, Lesley and Molly were unbelievably underrated only because they represented Ireland: THE COUNTRY WITH THE MOST (7) WINS AT EUROVISION.
@@ufuksnmez98 i liked Lesley's live performance at Eurovision .she deserved to be in the final..we love lipstick but not waterline . lipstick should have been top 3
Maybe it's intentional. The Streak must have taken its toll on the Irish broadcaster. Winning and hosting several times in a row (almost) would bankrupt any broadcasting company, I'm honestly surprised they survived that
Ireland have had some fantastic songs and singers over the years. Colm Wilkinson went on to be the first (and best) British Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. Bring him home was written for him. Johnny Logan holds the record for most wins both as a singer and songwriter. I love Hold me now.

Ireland was my winner five times. In 1970, 1980, 1984, 1987 and 1996. I think Ireland went from being overrated to being underrated in ESC. Their 2008, 2009, 2015 and 2021 entries deserved to qualify.

We may have lost in the Eurovision Song Contest but we are still the country in Europe with the most wins. @@MustiiForTheWin Here's what I think. In essence yes, you are right. That is the main reason Ireland isn't winning. But there are a whole litany of other reasons. Circa 2000 Eurovision changed beyond all recognition. Gone was the live orchestra in favour of backing tracks, total freedom in terms of choice of language used and this also coincided with the addition of new countries particularly from eastern Europe.
